As usual, I have been inspired by things on Pinterest. Here are a few things I've been working on this summer: I decided it was time to prettify my binders. Here's my first one: I saw this 3-Star Coloring Rubric on Pinterest: Pinterest via laura-armstrong-martinez.blogspot.com What a great visual for those who need reminders :) Here's my version: Lots of bloggers are getting organized with fantastic lesson overviews, so I had to get on that bandwagon too: Have you noticed all of the Welcome Bunting too? I just had to make my own: I used turquoise, pink, and brown pennant pieces, mounted on black, and tied it together with white ribbon.
Yup, I just used the G-word. Did you cringe just now, when you read it? To be honest, I still cringe a little too. As the mother of a profoundly gifted and twice-exceptional child, I think that gifted is a terrible label; it brings to mind images of beautifully-wrapped packages with neatly tied bows. Our gifted reality is sometimes beautiful but complicated and challenging and anything but neat. When folks hear the word gifted, they tend to make assumptions.

Get your kids engaged with Ninja Kickin' Contractions! Love QR? I do and I know my kids do too! Get your students active, motivated, and involved with these QR code task cards. So much fun to play especially with the integration of iPods. QR's are great! Simply read the question, decide on your answer, and scan the QR to see if you got it right. Don't have an iPod? No problem! Just use them as task cards! This set includes 60 cards with a colored background. There is an answer key, recording sheet, and credits. I have chosen to not put cut lines on these cards. I know the cutter at MY school hardly ever cuts on the line that I want. Just cut between the cards...they are close enough together that a simple "eyeballing" will be good. Did you know that you can earn TpT credit that can be used to go toward future purchases?! It's true! Just leave feedback and the credits go into your account. Like this lesson but not ready to buy it? Put it on your wishlist or Pin It so you don't lose it! Make sure to click the red star at the top of my page to be able to follow me. You'll be first to know when I've added new things to my store. Tiny Toes Note to Buyers: Sometimes a QR app will give previous answers as the current one. If this happens to you, please keep trying the code until it works. None of the codes are defective.

Are you looking to decorate your classroom with fun, hand-drawn anchor charts/posters? Do you find it difficult to find the time to create, draw, outline and color? Don't fret. Give me the markers. Hi, I'm the Chart Lady! I love making engaging, eye catching and educational anchor charts. I also can draw/create any other topic you would like, just contact me directly and ask! My students absolutely love these posters and we use them daily. Many students are visual learners, so the colorful images really help them connect, recall and digest what we have learned. I call this anchor chart: "Plant Adaptations" Adaptations is always one of the favorite concepts for students. Being able to see different ways that plants can adapt to their environment is very helpful to master the content. **All non-laminated anchor charts are currently hand drawn and colored on 25x30, anchor chart paper. Once ordered, it will take a 2-3 days to draw, outline, color and ship. If you would like it laminated, it will cost $5.00 more for lamination and the size will shrink by 2-3 inches of width. I ship these out ASAP after being ordered and completed, however, keep in mind that once shipped, it is out of my control. Therefore, if shipping does not meet your expectations, I encourage customers to reach out to me first, and we can work something out to make up for anything that might have occurred that was outside of our control.** Enjoy, The Chart Lady

This resource does an amazing job of pairing visual aids with interactive activities in bite-sized portions. While I say "bite-sized", each bite is so on-point with the topic and message. I love and appreciate so much the care and attention that is so clearly poured into these resources!" "Oh My God! what a beautiful, timeless, highly useful resource. This is one of the best resources I've purchased - i would want to give it 10 stars for content, ease of use & visuals!" "Holy cow, this is an exceptional resource. I am usually the toughest critic when it comes to TPT purchases since it's my personal money. But this resource is a stand out resource. Everything about it is phenomenal. The clipart, the layouts, the questions, all of it. I've been using them as warm ups with my fourth graders the last few weeks in place of our vocabulary. We've had some amazing conversations so far. I can't wait to implement these as part of my morning meeting and SEL lessons next year!" COMMON QUESTIONS and ANSWERS Can Families Use This SEL Journal At Home? Yes! Doodlebugs Teaching is taking a break from Five for Friday until August. So to tide us over, I'm linking up with First Grade Parade for Favorite Pins Friday! This should be fun! I love pinning! If you are interested in linking up, click on the adorable image below! So here are my favorite pins from this week. I've been pinning this Giveaway that I am also participating in! There are so many great items you can win! I saw this AMAZING idea recently! I really want to try this next year! I plan on creating and using lots of Anchor Charts in my classroom next year. I've used a few in the past, but really like all the great ideas I've seen from other teachers. I've created a board specifically for Anchor Charts just so I have some references! I'm always on the lookout for ways to organize around the house! I purchased and pinned these books this week. So excited to finish them both before school! That's it for this week! I'm going to Pinterest now to get ready for next Friday! :-) If you would like to see what else I've been pinning, check out my boards!

I am a list person that loves to color code, so why couldn’t I bring that into my classroom? First, we reviewed how to summarize using our two methods. Using the summary story mountain, we used post-it notes to supplement our learning. This REALLY helped my kids that needed a distinct break between the story elements. We also had wonderful conversations as to why a specific action belonged in the climax Post-It note. When they were give the post-it notes it really helped them “get the gist” of the story. I modeled it first with them, then they completed this activity in partners, THEN they did it alone. Our team doesn’t use a basal, but we needed passages that wouldn’t be too difficult as they were in learning mode. We pulled […]
