Space These past couple of weeks have been manic. Crazy bonkers......and not really in the nicest way. Half term went by in a flash. I did enjoy not having to get up and rush about on the school run, but the week was not a relaxing one by any means. A half term week with half a week of gorgeous weather. Walking in sunshine without a coat and still in flip flops has been a complete joy. The other half of the week being grey and wet, but hey, I'm not complaining. Cosy evenings of soft light and candles sort of make up for chillier, and greyer days. (Yes, Mr Moon has still not left my kitchen and migrated to Baby Bear's room. Shame. On. Me.) It was a week of birthdays, mine included......and, as a woman who has entered her forties, I reserve the right to be a complete child if I want to be and not care, hence cake and sparkly crown. I had had this cake pinned for like EVER on my pinterest board (from this gorgeous blog). I had always wanted to make one, but perhaps a little put off by the fact that it was clearly a childs' cake and I only have bears who would NOT be impressed if I made it for them. Then seeing it made on this talented lady's blog, I thought, why the heck not make one for myself. My birthday was looming, the obligatory cake I make at every birthday was utterly fitting for this kind of dressing, and I had the animals. So I did, and it was lovely, and I don't care the others were made for a 4 year old and a two year old and I was in my forties. With a cake like that, it was only fitting the sparkly crown was worn too. I seriously think the older I am getting the more I am regressing in mental age. The cake was eaten within minutes, no surprises there with my lot (and Baby Bear did declare that I could make one just like it with transformers in party hats sat around a party table....so you never know), but other birthdays meant more cake was made. Same cake, just more nautical. It was also a week of coughs and colds, sickness, seeing people and sorting stuff out. Not as relaxing as I had hoped. In truth I had a vision of lazy mornings and relaxing crochet. Puh.....as if. I did get to visit my most favourite shop. I could be in there for hours at a time. It was without the Bears and it was just the treat I needed to boost my depleted energy levels. So.......I just wanted to pop by and say hello. My big aim this year was to get a post out once a week. To keep up the blogging momentum and not be as sporadic as I was last year. Real life has other plans for me.....and real life utterly takes priority. With so much going on, I am craving space though. All I can think about at the moment is getting rid of clutter to create space......which in turn will give me that nice feeling in my head (you know that feeling you get when you've just blitzed your house?). I also think there's also an element of being able to have a feeling of control about something. In the very brief moments I am having to myself, I am battling with whether I do the million mundane jobs I have to get done to keep my little family unit functioning.......whether I forget all about it and sit for 5 minutes in utter quiet with a favourite drink and a mag......or whether I try and articulate a blog post. Boringly, mundane wins. I'm craving a good mag full of wonderful inspiration and a decent chai latte (for 'tis the season for chai lattes now). I also have a little post lined up with a lovely little creative make. I have been desperate to get it finished, but it will have to wait for when I have the time to make the best out of the days lighting, to get it photographed. Uh, it feels nice to sit and get a post out. Five minutes of quiet and clearing the head (a little space created today then). Now back to the mundane. I am wincing at the piles of stuff screaming for my attention. Have a super rest of a week all xxx
