Arduino Controlled Flight Simulator - "The Viper": My Maker Faire project for 2012 is "The Viper" -- an Arduino controlled flight simulator inspired by the ship of the same name from the SyFy Channel's TV Series Battlestar Galactica. It rotates 360 degrees along two axes, meaning that yes, you can g…

A control panel that is, for our spaceship cockpit. All from cardboard as is the norm in the studio. And if you look real close you can see...
I've uploaded this pic mainly to show the construction of the opening mechanism of the canopy. I really like how it came out. It opens just as if there were tiny hinges on top, though the mechanism is on the inside behind the driver. Also, when closed the two thin robot arm hinges don't obscure the view through the rear window. The connection part for the "battle droid" body was tricky though. It has to be supported from above or it will come off every time. The tile right above the clip also serve as support for the "fixed" position for the rear window.
When you're a systems administrator, you don't just have one job; you have ALL the jobs, and often each one is on-demand with little to no warning. Unless you do a task every day, you may not always have all the commands and options you need in mind when you need them. And that's why I love cheat sheets. Cheat sheets help you avoid silly mistakes, they keep you from having to look through pages of documentation, and they keep you moving efficiently through your tasks. I've selected my favorite 10 cheat sheets for any sysadmin, regardless of experience level.
Hi all, I've recently completed my Hornet pit project. Took some flights with DCS Suppercarrier module. The fuselage is full aluminum, All the inputs and outputs are functional. I've built all the electronics and done all the programming myself. Seat is also full metal with all ...
For us fans of PC flight simulation, the ultimate goal has always been a realistic home cockpit with tons of switches, knobs, buttons, and levers to give us that extra edge and forever do away with having to use a keyboard. The biggest question when approaching your home cockpit should first and foremost be:
Students are introduced to the art of designing airplanes through paper airplane constructions. The goal is for students to learn important aircraft design considerations and how engineers must iterate their designs to achieve success. They learn about the basic parts that can be found on most airplanes, and their functions. They also learn how engineers make small-scale models to test ideas and improve early designs. This prepares students for the associated activity in which they first make and test several provided paper airplane designs, after which they design and test their own paper airplane designs.
