Let's discuss a little bit how you can easily transform your doll pattern to include lovely shoulders, and add that sweet extra to your doll's appearance. Let's jump right in.
Recently i bought some dollhouse dolls, because of one Caco-couple i was interested in. All the other dolls in the parcel (I guess the most are vintage Ari dolls) were dolls someone liked and played with a lot. And this someone made some cute tiny clothes for them - or maybe it was a Granny or Mummy?! All these cute little clothes reminded me of a book i once bought on a fleamarket. It's a sewing book for children and it´s lovely! It explanes everything you need to craft: sewing, embroidery, knitting and crocheting. Illustrated with masses of cute pictures and drawings, like this instruction to sew tiny dollhouse dolls clothes: Look at all the sweet details - there's real water in the bathtub :) Your doll needs little panties or a dress?! here they are: I have some little naked Ari babies i played with as a child and i think i´ll make them some of these tiny clothes someday... So, will you sew with me?! *Nicola

One of the simplest way to add a little “extra” to your natural handmade cloth doll, is the addition of a pot belly. Wether is in the design of your pattern, or the way you stuff your doll, taking care to create the shape of a rounded belly makes your doll ultra special. It adds a certain charm an

As mentioned in my last post, I've had the idea of creating a Bleuette doll in crochet for a long time. Bleuette is a doll with quite a history, and an even more amazing wardrobe :-) She started life in 1905 as a give-away (thats right!) promotion to little French girls to subscribe to a girl's magazine...La Semaine De Suzette, which translates as 'Suzette's week.' The magazine's publishers were devout Catholics, and they were worried that the secularization of French public education would be detrimental to the development of young French womanhood. Thus the magazine, and its aim to help promote their (the publisher's) ideals of what a young Frenchwoman's accomplishments should be. One of these things was a proficiency with needlework and hand sewing, and Bleuette is the perfect little companion to sew for! La Semaine De Suzette published hundreds of patterns, from 1905 thru 1960, for their little Frenchwoman, Bleuette. There is a lot more to Bleuette's history, and her now incredible popularity. In 1905, 20,000 Bleuettes were initially produced by the French company SFBJ, but 60,000 subscriptions were received before the first issue was even published! Bleuette continued to be produced until 1960. Now, many talented doll artist create reproduction Bleuettes. The doll in the middle of the picture above is one such reproduction, by Jackie Chimpky. Here is the pattern to create you own Bleuette in the medium of crochet. I used a size D crochet hook and both Vanna's Choice and Red Heart Super Saver to make these dolls ;the Super Saver worked up slightly larger (and was harder on my hands!) than the Vanna's Choice. This is a very tight gauge for worsted weight yarn; 5 single crochet to 1 inch; but it creates a very firm fabric for stuffing and jointing. Crochet Bleuette is 11 1/2 to 11 3/4 inches tall with her wig. Crochet Bleuette She is jointed using strong craft thread; two strands doubled (so you are passing four strands through the body...you need this strength). Other supplies you will need are a three inch dollmaking needle, 9mm acrylic eyes, and a plastic lid from a yogurt or cottage cheese carton to stiffen the bottom of her feet. I used purchased wigs for this doll, in size 7, which is the head circumference. Here are a couple of sources for wigs: http://dollsupply.com/shop/ http://www.dollspart.com/ There are a number of online sources of information and patterns for Bleuette; a Google search will turn up many. Here is one of my favorites: The Bleu Door a free repository of many of the patterns published by La Semaine De Suzette, and maintained by Janie Hile Grab a hook and some yarn, and make your very own little piece of doll history; enjoy the day, and enjoy the crochet :-)
I added a center part later for this doll, but did it before attaching on the blond doll. You sew the yarn down the middles of unfolded strips.
Little People Patterns Peg Doll Mama Spring or Autumn Shawl Crochet Pattern If your Little People like playing with Peg Dolls, they will love this sweet spring or autumn shawl for Mama from our Peg Doll Accessories Collection. Make them in neutral or bold colours, from soft cotton or silk yarn to match the rest of Mama’s wardrobe. The idea for this shawl for Mama came about after a friend had asked me to create hats and a sling in different sizes for her Peg Dolls. She was planning to sell them with her handmade timber houses at one of upcoming the Waldorf/Steiner school festivals and needed them done quickly. In all honesty, I got into a bit of a frenzy making hats in all kinds of colour variations. I really do like how simply using different kinds of colour combinations additional to using stripes or just a rim for the hats can change the look and feel of the Peg Dolls. However, I wanted to create something even more… After all, if Peg Dolls wear hats and nothing else, won’t they get a bit cold around the body? By the way, if you would like a pattern for making those hats in all different sizes, you can find a tutorial here and a downloadable pdf in either US or UK terms here. Anyhoo, I felt some sort of clothing was needed for balance, so I designed a Mama shawl. If you prefer a download for the shawl pattern, there is a pdf version available in the shop for a tiny contribution towards the Black Sheep Project. The download is available in US or UK terms. Each version contains a printable version (without pictures) and a photo tutorial with step-by-step written and visual instructions. Get the Pattern (US Terms) …

Knitting patterns for dolls clothes - simple, timeless elegance in grey and white
18-inch Doll Winter Set (Fleece Hat & Poncho) This outfit was made to fit dolls such as the American Girl Doll. The pattern was designed for the children's sewing classes that I teach. It's another easy peezy favorite of theirs. Fleece Hat Tutorial Supply List Fleece Chalk Wheel Freezer paper, wrapping paper or newspaper to draw your pattern on Sewing supplies Seam Allowance = 1/2 inch Step 1 - Make The Pattern Draw an 8 x 14 inch rectangle on a piece of paper and cut it out Label the pattern “fleece hat cut 1” Step 2 – Cut the Fabric Pin the pattern on the fleece making sure the long side of the rectangle is placed in the direction that the fleece stretches so it will stretch around the doll's head later. Cut out your fabric. Cut a scrap of fleece that is 1/2 x 7 inches. Step 3 - Sew the Hem Turn up one long edge 1-inch and pin. Set your machine for a zigzag stitch and sew along the pinned edge. Step 4 - Sew Side Seam Fold the hat in half with pretty sides touching. Make the edge even and pin. Set your machine back to straight stitch. Sew the side seam using a 1/2 inch seam. Step 4 - Make the Fringe Use a chalk wheel to mark a line 2 inches down from the top of the hat. Cut fringe strips approx. 1/2 inch wide from the end of the fabric to the chalk line you made. Turn hat pretty side out and center the seam facing you. Gather up the fringe and tie the 1/2 inch fleece strip around the hat in a knot. Trim the tie to match the length of your fringe. Enjoy your hat! Fleece Poncho Tutorial Supply List Fleece Chalk Wheel 2 Buttons Freezer paper, wrapping paper or newspaper to draw your pattern on Sewing supplies Step 1 - Make The Pattern Draw a 15 x 15 inch square on a piece of paper. Label the pattern "fleece poncho cut 1" Step 2 - Cut the Fabric Pin the pattern to the fleece and cut it out. Step 3 - Make the Neck Opening One the back of the fabric use your chalk wheel to draw an X from corner to corner. Measure 2 inches from the center of the X and make a mark. Do this on three edges of the X. It will look like a T shape in the center of the poncho. Carefully cut along the chalk lines between the 3 dots your made. This will cut out a T shape in the center of your poncho. Step 4 - Make the Collar Fold the flaps you just cut down to the front of the poncho and pin forming a collar. Sew a button to each flap. Step 5 - Fringe the Poncho Use the chalk wheel and a large ruler to draw a line 1 1/2 inches from all sides of the poncho. Cut the square off each corner along the chalk line. Carefully cut 1/2 wide fringe around the poncho from the edge to the chalk line you made. Enjoy your poncho! © 2011 Carol Steely All rights reserved http://funthreads.blogspot.com/
