A Ration of Puns to Satiate Those Wordplay Cravings - The internet has generated a huge amount of laughs from cats and FAILS. And we all out of cats.
The light, crumbly texture of this shortbread from Dorie Greenspan, owes to a clever technique: freezing the dough and grating it.
Team Yotam have done it again – this ruffled filo pie cleverly treads the line between sweet and savoury, with a top note of zingy heat thanks to a scattering of pickled chillies. Adding sugar to the filo might seem counter-intuitive, but it really helps to caramelise the pastry and is balanced out by the salty feta and pickled chillies. This is a handy one to have in the freezer, ready for any last-minute guests. Find all our make-ahead Christmas recipes here. Some of the best Australian Christmas desserts feature tangy, tropical fruits and cooling custard. And, this easy crinkle pie with passionfruit, lemon and store-bought custard is a breeze to make (thanks to some clever shortcuts!). While everyone loves crispy filo pastry, brushing butter between each sheet of pastry can be a bit of a drag. But we have found the perfect hack to get around this tedious task (and this luscious crinkle pie is the key)! Simply gather the sheets, line the dish with pastry and pour over the melted better. Because of all the folds, the butter seeps all the way to the base. Using ready-made custard means this crinkle pie is a cinch to make. It adds creaminess and sweetness in one hit without taking way too much time. The lemon and the passionfruit add a divine tang to the pie. They cut straight through the richness of the butter and custard! Just remember, this recipe requires 1 hour of cooling, so prep ahead and enjoy the fruity flavours of this passionfruit and lemon custard crinkle pie. We love custard and we have all the recipes! Sweet and creamy, custard makes a luscious addition to so many desserts. Whether you prefer it to be the star of the dish, like with these lemon custard tarts, or perhaps you prefer custard to be an addition, as it is in this recipe for baklava pears with saffron custard. No matter what your favourite way to eat this favourite dessert accompaniment, there’s no denying how versatile it is.

A sweet, crunchy biscuit that's always popular.
Inspired by Saveur. Notes: To make Cinnamon Snails: Roll out pie dough scraps into a rectangle. Spread with a layer of butter. Sprinkle generously with cinnamon and sugar. Roll into a spiral. Cut crosswise into slices. Bake at 375º for 10 to 15 minutes — just keep an eye on them; they brown quickly at the end. If you have extra frangipane, broil a slice of brioche, flip it over, broil it now spread with extra frangipane topped with apple slices sprinkled with sugar until it's golden and delicious. Yum. While the apricot glaze gives the final tart a nice sheen, I prefer it without it.
