Art review: Adam Silverman's 'Clay and Space' is vessel for inquiry
I am a crazy lady when it comes to my kiln. I like it running well and keeping it clean. This is a laminated sign I have up in my kiln room. This helps me to remember certain facts such as how many hours each speed of firing takes or what to fire Greenware and and Bisque ware at. It also helps my coworker and I with scheduling firings. If anyone else is firing for some reason, there is helpful notes such as giving clay at least 5 days or more to dry. Finally, you will see a cleaning schedule. I like to have the kiln vacuumed once a quarter or when ever something blows up. Maybe this could be helpful in your room.

Gestating, trying all sorts of new/old/new again approaches, bringing them along to the fullest expression and then, having learned all I was interested in learning, dropping them cold. Sometimes that’s called iterating, sometimes it’s called a major dry spell, spinning […]

Help! I'm Afraid of My Kiln! Physical Space % %
Want to know what you're missing by not being on facebook? Here are some photos from the last few days. I think all these are via my iphone, so mediocre quality. I was invited to participate in the Carbondale Clay Center cup auction, I'm third from the right. Hanging out next to Val Cushing. Sometimes it's hard to remember that when you make 52 pots, you have to slip and decorate 52 pots. Hoban and Kaylee. I was amused by their symmetry. My mother has good taste in pots. I snapped this when I was at their home for Thanksgiving. 3 potters from 2 states here, know who they are? Remember that I was born and raised in Minnesota... The showroom before the first weekend of the homesale. Cold and dreary doesn't make for good crowds. Supposed to be colder and drearier this weekend. Damn. Sometimes my students are...well...dense. Let's go with that. Laying down the law with my ceramics 1 students. Cheers!
