How cool are these! They were created out of clay and glazed with crystallized over glazes. If you make them be sure to make the holes big enough and free of glaze as they will fill over. TC is the artist and she is the one that added the textures and special messages for her friend's birthday gift. Love the added cord and glass beads. Just a super project for one of your advanced middle schoolers as she works on passion of art in her own direction. Yes, they were a hit as a birthday gift! TC is really using the TAB (Teaching for Artistic Behavior) method of art during her Independent Study. I like to tell people that I began teaching this way in an effort to survive with difficult working conditions--960 students per week, small room, few supplies, no time between classes and so on. It does NOT require a fancy private school to work--quite the contrary. Stunning hand built ceramic mug on white stoneware clay with dragon scale texture featuring a dragon on the front. Hand painted with glazes to create an iron grey on the scales and shimmering red glaze on the inside. The glaze breaks over the dragon scales making it look as though the mug is about to breathe fire! Mug can hold 16 ounces and is 4.5 inches tall. Each mug is hand crafted by me using the slab building technique. I take great care in shaping and sizing of every mug. After bisque firing, each mug has its own unique glaze combination applied by hand with natural fan brushes. This process, which I thoroughly enjoy, takes time and results in a one-of-a-kind handmade ceramic mug made just for you! This mug is made with durable stoneware clay and glazes. Even though it is dishwasher/microwave safe I would recommend hand washing and avoiding the microwave just to be safe and increase the longevity of your mug. Each piece will have small imperfections because of the hand building process. We celebrate and embrace the individuality and uniqueness of each mug!
