I have seen so many great ideas for review games out there. I thought I would compile a list of my favorites to have as a resource. I figure if I could come up with 6 great games that work, I only have to use the same game 4 times in a year! 1. Zap! - This is my favorite game so far simply because the smartest group doesn't always win. It's kind of like Jeopardy, but with a curve ball - if you get the "Zapped" card, you lose all your points! Thanks for sharing, Mathtastrophe! Game instructions and printable here. Another take on this game is Bazinga by Simplifying Radicals. 2. Nerf Gun - Love this idea! Draw a bullseye on the board. Divide the kids into teams. Ask a team a review question. If they get the answer correct, they get to shoot at the board to see how many points they earn. So fun! 3. Jenga - I really like how Living Out His Love blog does this one. She writes with a sharpie marker directly onto the Jenga piece. And, she write a subject and week on both sides of each piece. Though, if done this way, it seems like you could only do this at the end of the semester (because if you have Sciene, week 7 written in sharpie and you're only at week 3, that wouldn't work!). Another idea is to tape the subject and week with clear packing tape and then re-do it as your progress along in the year. 4. Power Tower - Similar to Jenga, but with paper cups. Write the question on the cup. If the class answers correctly, they get to stack the cups. If the tower falls, they have to start over. via Mrs. Lewis' Learning Library 5. Mr Potato Head - For every question the class gets correct, they get to add a body part to Mr. Potato. I also like the idea on 2nd Grade Rocks! blog. She uses it as a behavior incentive. Every time the class has good behavior, they get to add a body part. When Mr. Potato is completely put together, they get to have an ice cream party! 6. Snowball Fight - Love this idea for Texas as this may be the only snow the children ever see. Write the review questions on a piece of paper. Divide the kids into 2 teams. If the kids get it correct, they get to crumble it up into a ball. After all the questions have been answered, they get to have a snowball fight using the paper balls! 7. Chair Tic-Tac-Toe - Put nine chairs in 3 rows of 3 to make a square. Divide the class into 2 teams. Ask a team a question. If they get it correctly, one of their players gets to sit in one of the chairs. The first team to have 3 players sitting in a row wins. 8. Memory Mogul - Awesome (and free!) printable game from Sola Gratia Mom blog. This one seems like it could take some time printing out the cards and possibly creating a game board. But, the game board and cards could last all year. Click here for instructions and printables. 9. Stinky Feet - My 7 year old son would love this one. Very simple with little prep time. Idea and instructions can be found here at Teaching in the Fast Lane blog. 10. Classroom Board Game - This game may require a little adapting, but it looks like fun. Turn the classroom into a life size game board. Great ideas for how to do this game here at Blessings for Bible School Teachers.

{Blank sheet} {Fill-in-the-blank sheet} (Here is the same spiel from last week, in case you came right to this post from elsewhere. :) . . . . . I'm putting together review sheets to help my girls with their memory work for Classical Conversations. I put these in page protectors and let them go at it with a dry erase marker. I use them with both girls (2nd/4th) and they are written on every day. (The page protector helps me on my paper usage.) I will have them look up the information and copy it in on the "help" sheet the first couple of days. The two days before CC, I give them the blank one and they fill it in. This lets me know if there is anything we need to work on before proofing. If you want a copy, you should just be able to click and save??? Let me know if there are problems. Hope this helps you too! Oh...the answers are in your foundations guide! ;) (Don't want to mess with copy write issues!)

Are you tired of the tin whistle? You are not alone! This adaptation was created in order to use the Classical Conversations Foundations Fall music portion (Cycle 1, Weeks 7-12) using a piano/keyboard instead of the tin whistle. This curriculum was written to be used as a supplementary aid for Classical Conversations families . This product parallels the Foundations curriculum but adapts the musical theory portion for the piano rather than the tin whistle. CC families and communities using this material should follow and teach the Foundations curriculum as written but adapt the for the use of a different instrument. **Please note that this adaptation changes the cycle song to the key of C for easy keyboard use. If you would like to use this material in the same key as a tin whistle, please see this same material marked for the key of D!** About Homemaking Music Mom (Me!): I am very excited to be able to share what I love and have experienced. I am currently a stay-at-home-mom (hence the name), and I adore it. I have 10+ years experience teaching music and a Masters degree in Music Education. This material is actually a product created through my final masters thesis where I analyzed CC's wonderful curriculum with other homeschooling materials. This material is just the beginning of what I have been working on, so keep your eyes open for more that I am looking to release!

A list of our family's favorite Classical Conversations CC Cycle 1 books. Family read aloud selections organized by history topic with descriptions.
Have you ever read through the weekly History sentences and wish you have some additional information to use with your kiddos? These sheets will help! I have created a cycle 1 complement to the 5th edition Classical Conversations Foundations Guide. You can simply print these out and use them for a "deeper dive" into the History section of the guide. Note: You will need a purchased Foundations Guide in order to utilize these sheets as the sentences are blocked out and you will need to guide to help you fill them in! (Also another idea for kids to practice learning them!) Please see the example page to understand more about what is included) All 24 weeks are in this one set. Thank you for your purchase!!! P.S. I have scoured each sheet but if you see something that needs corrected, please let me know!! <3
