RARE SUBSTANTIAL ANCIENT INDUS VALLEY HARAPPAN TERRACOTTA FERTILITY FIGURINE Good details, large size Dimensions: Weight - 56.8 grams Size - 10 cm The Indus Valley Civilisation extended from what today is north east Afghanistan to Pakistan and north west India. It was one of three early and widespread cradles of civilisation along with Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia. Aridification of the region during the 3rd millennium BCE may have been the initial spur for the urbanisation associated with the civilisation, but it eventually reduced the water supply to such an extent as to cause the civilisation’s demise, and to scatter its population eastward. At its peak, the Indus Valley Civilisation, which included such sites as Harappa and Mohenjo-daro, may have had a population of over five million, who developed new techniques in pottery, seal carving, and metallurgy. Age: 2200-1800 B.C. Previously in a large British collection of an expert based in central London, formed prior to 2000
# A seal found in the Indus Valley Civilization (IVC) in the Indian-Subcontinent (in present day Pakistan) # The IVC people traded till places as far as Sumer and Egypt (from the Indian-Subcontinent) and even had martime trade (trade through ships and sea ports). # Unfortunately, we know very little of the IVC people as their script (which you can see in the seals) are not yet deciphered (decoded) by experts. This is due to the lack of a bilingual.

It reflects the continuation of the traditions of art and craft of Harappan Civilization. The archaeologist Gregory Possehl described this statue as, "the most captivating piece of art from an Indus site" and believed that while "we may not be certain that she was a dancer, but she was good at what she did and she knew it."! Dhokra artists across the tribal belt of Jharkhand, West Bengal, Odisha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana have continued the tradition of using the lost wax technique that was used by the Bronze Age Harappans to make their bronze figurines and statues. Our Dhokra artist, Somnath Karmakar has been inspired by the ancient past to recreate one of India's most famous pieces of art, from the Bronze Age Harappan civilization!

The inebriating aromas of spice markets and the saturated colors of Hindu temples transport you to the dusty roads of ancient India. Isvara a Sanskrit term referring to the Supreme Spirit of the Universe. It is a journey through suggestions and mysteries, Ayurvedic knowledge and love rituals of the fascinating civilization of the Dravidians. We owe the incomprehensible secrets handed down on the seals and constructions of Harappa and Mohenjo Daro, as well as a wealth of advanced knowledge transmitted in the Vedas, the sacred books, to the ancient people who prospered on the banks of the Indus River for a thousand years. The aphrodisiac Saffron, traditionally diluted in milk, is combined with the balsamic Benzoin to open and complete a composition that recalls the ointments that have always been used in rituals. A warm and tactile sense of Cashmere envelops the senses. Sri Lankan nutmeg, Java Vetiver and Patchouli enhance the exotic component, rich in aromatic resins. Isvara is a provocative blend which inextricably bonds love and perfume, as recommended by the most ancient Indian tradition.
