With Lent and Easter just around the bend, I thought it was a great time to re-share my friend's Prayer Hands with a free printable. It's a simple way to remind your kids of what is important and remind them of all that they have to be thankful for, not only during this time of
A 15 month old toddler has been a challenge for me in church! I quickly had to come up with quiet church activities for toddlers to keep him entertained.
I absolutely love teaching bible class. I took a break for a while due to a crazy schedule, but I'm glad to say that I'm back in it this quarter. Teaching bible class to little ones is a weekly reminder of how much I love teaching. I'm so glad to be a part of sharing
Bible ABC's: V is for Vegetables Daniel, Shadrach, Meshack and Abed-Nego in Daniel 1:12 These lessons can be used without the alphabet theme. Consider these an update with new ideas and printables! This easy to make and use Flip Book has the color and black & white. The Spinner Wheel's are fun for kids and easy to prep. Add vegetable stickers for more fun. There is not much to find on vegetables, so there I included the picture to color and a picture with mazes . A crossword and word search are included and have the teacher's answer sheets and a vegetables color by number code. The first is a Reader Worksheet. The wording from the scripture is as easy to read as possible with sight words while keeping to the key points with easy to answer questions. The second is a fill-in-the-blank worksheet. Color and black & white are included for both. I designed the Trip Strip to be a cut & glue timeline. This one shown has lines for the students to write about each event. Or, they can write the scriptures. There is another worksheet without the writing space. These can easily be used for mixed age groups. Cut and glue according to directions. This is not included in the application pack. Click here to download. These Event Cards can be used as smaller visuals and they can be shuffled for the student to re-tell the events and lay them in order. The same full-page size visuals and pictures-to-color can be downloaded below. There are alphabet mazes and worksheets included. These are half-sheets and can be used in Interactive Notebooks. Click here to see a free video on how to make and use Interactive Notebooks. There is a set of 5 and 10 piece puzzles. Click here to download the lesson and application printables. There is a one-page foldable book in color and black and white. These pages can also be cut apart and used as flash cards to put the events in order. Click here to download. Click here to download the updated visuals. The file includes Daniel 1-3. All are not shown. (These are not included in the application pack.) Click here to download the pictures to color. (These are the same as the visuals but are black & white.) Click here to see other Old Testament lessons in the Bible ABC's series.
Read a lesson, do a craft, play a little game, say a prayer...and repeat. Over and over. Are you tired of sending home crafts with your littles that just end up in the trash? Are you feeling bored with what you've been teaching? Here are some fun, UNIQUE activities I created that you can use to spice up your Sunday mornings (or anytime!) with your littles! Change up your lesson by doing a short Escape room with them! Yes, littles can "escape" too! Here are 3 Escape rooms/Break out Boxes (and a bonus!) that I made that can be secular, or can be attached to a lesson that you are learning. 1. "Listening" Escape Room - this one would be great to do in conjunction with the Samuel story, Mary and Martha, or any other Bible story where "listening" is your theme. There are 3 activities your children must complete and all 3 require them to use their listening skills! This requires more set up by the teacher than the one below. It is geared towards kids ages prek-2nd grade. 2. "Lost" Break out box - This break out box is based on any of the "lost" parables - Parable of the Lost Coin, Lost Son, and Lost sheep (or any parable where you're searching for something or someone is lost). The children (ages prek-2nd grade) will be searching for the lost item just like in the story. This is an easy lesson with very little set up for the teacher - you just need a printer and painters tape (key lock with lock box is optional)! Depending on how many hints you give your kids, it could take them anywhere from 10 minutes to 20-30 minutes! Gauge their interest and energy level and give hints accordingly :) 3. Jonah/Temple Tax Escape Room - Here is a 10-20 minute escape room also geared towards prek-2nd graders :) This could be done anytime, but I had two stories in mind when writing it - Jonah and/or the temple tax (Matthew 17 when peter gets a coin from inside a fish). All four puzzles are finding objects inside of other objects. 4. I also created a short Paul and Silas escape room to use during VBS - this is a freebie and doesn't cost anything :) It was designed to be finished in 10-15 minutes. Another game I made for prek is Bible Zingo! It's Bingo with a twist! 5. Bible Zingo - Here are the basic rules... It’s just like BINGO, but fast paced. You could play it different ways - click the link to read two ways. Included in this powerpoint... There are 50 Zingo cards so 50 kids can play at one time. Each card has six pictures. There are 48 different pictures of Bible stories and church. If you’d rather play with 4 pics per cards, then just cut two off. Slides 5 and 6 have all the pictures miniature size so they’re easy for you to see. You can use those as the playing cards, or, if you’d rather have bigger ones, slides 7-14 also contain all 48 pictures. You can use those as playing cards and as Zingo cards (so print them out twice). I've also created 2 booklets that you can do over multiple Sundays with your kids, or all at once. 6. My 5 Senses Booklet - Bible Version - Using Scripture, teach your preschoolers (or kindergarteners) about their 5 senses! Samuel - "Hear" Psalms - "See" Last Supper - "Taste" Jacob and Esau - "Smell" Jesus heals - "Touch" Each page has a "sense" and a scripture verse. You can spend a Sunday morning/week on each page and read each story in its entirety in the Bible (and each page can be its own craft), or you can do it all in one sitting and just read the Scripture and not the entire story. Included at the end for the teacher is a page of instructions on how they can illustrate each page (or do something on your own!). 7. ABC Religious Christmas Booklet - This is a printable ABC Christmas story book. Each page has the letter, a word, a scripture (or explanation), and a picture to draw or color (or activity). The activities are age appropriate for prek/K...maybe first grade as well. For example, for "R" it says "Color in and decorate the bells. While you’re coloring, sing a Christmas song!" If you're looking for a curriculum or something to do for 4-6 weeks, I have started writing a "Little Books of the Bible Series". Each book contains one book of the Bible (or various if the books are short). Included are major stories from the book, verses to memorize, short stories, and songs we sing from that book! In addition, there is a little game to play at the end - although they require reading skills. Read the books together and illustrate them as a class or individually! 8. Mark 9. Matthew 10. Luke 11. Genesis 12. Exodus to Deuteronomy Are you looking for a fun activity to put in your worship bags? You could also do these during Sunday school as a group. These are 5 dice games where each number helps you complete a drawing. I am not an artist so they are basic figures/shapes - but the kids will enjoy filling them in. And the cool thing is, if each child is doing it on their own, they will all look different! 13. 5 Bible Dice Games 14. Journaling! - Have you ever thought about journaling with your prek or K classes? Here are some fun journal prompts! Here is a craft idea I put together called the "Blessing Jar". You use it before mealtimes to say a blessing for the food. You can use it all year and can make it anytime as well (although Thanksgiving is a good time to start it :) 15. Meal Blessing Jar - print out the blessings, glue them onto popsicles sticks and pull one out before each meal. My kids LOVED doing this and we did it for almost 10 years as a family! Lastly, I made some games that can be projected up on the wall that you can all play together! They are called "Reveal the Picture". As you review one of the following stories, you click on part of the picture to reveal. See if they can guess the story you are revealing before it's completely done! (please watch the instructional video so you know how to make the questions appear and disappear) 16. Beatitudes, 10 Commandments, and the Lord's Prayer 17. Joseph and King David 18. Spot the Item - Have you played the game Spot it! before? All they have to do is spot the same item on both cards. I made one that has items from the Bible. Each slide has one object that is the same. See if they can spot it! And then, we they do, talk about the object and where it is mentioned in the Bible. There is also a character version that is not Biblical. Hopefully one of these ideas will help you get out of any rut you may be in :) Good luck and God bless! Thank you for all you do for your church and the littles you work with!

(Mark 1:14-22) At first glance, today's scripture appeared very simple... too simple for a game. There are a plethora of fish crafts but, we haven't played a game in a while, and I had my heart set on having an active activity this week. I read the scripture over and over trying to pick out enough details to support a game. As the week waned, I tried to talk myself into a craft anyway. But I couldn't do it. Thankfully, I awoke Saturday morning with this game idea: Supplies: Colored cardstock Scissors Sharpie Any fish drawing Bean bags (hacky sacks would work well, too) Questions (click to download) Optional: Blue plastic disposable table cloth If you do not want to draw your own fish, or have a picture you can use, you are welcome to download mine here. (Of course, this is for your private use only, and you may not sell the image or anything made from it.) Pre-class Instructions: 1. Using a copy machine or printer, copy the fish image onto 18 pieces of colored cardstock. 2. Cut out the fish. 3. Write one question on the back of each fish. Notice there are only 9 questions, but I have instructed you to cut out 18 fish. Each question will appear on two fish. This allows the game to be played in teams (each team getting their own set of questions/fish, or when there are only a few kids playing, the repetition will help them learn the correct answers.) 4. Print out the question & answer sheet in case it is needed during game play. How to play: 1. If using a blue tablecloth to mimic water, spread it on floor. 2. Spread the fish, face up, on top of the water. If not using the tablecloth, just spread the fish in a smallish area on the floor. 3. Pick a spot on the floor where the kids will stand when it is their turn. I used a rug we have in our room. I simply told them they could not step off the rug during their throw. 4. Each child gets one throw at a time. They are to toss the bean bag in an attempt to land on a fish. 5. When they land on a fish, they get to turn it over and read the question aloud. If they get the answer right, they get to keep the fish. If they do not know the answer, the fish must be returned to the sea, face up. Be sure to tell everyone the correct answer so the next time someone lands on that fish, they will know the answer. 6. The team or child with the most fish at the end of the game wins. I have a new Minute To Win It game. It's a New Testament version. Just click on the picture to check it out. In Seminary this year we are studying the Old Testament. For our Christmas party I thought that it would be fun to have a review of the year so far with Minute to Win it games. Here is what I came up with. I gave each team 5 apples and had them do their best to stack them. The team who had the most apples stacked at one minute won. You could also have a person from each team eat an apple and the person who eats most of the apple wins. For this one you will need 2 jars and a bunch of plastic animals. I taped a picture of Noah's Ark to the outside. Each person puts the jar by their feet. While standing straight each person tries to drop an animal into the jar from their nose. The teams that has the most animals is the jar at one minute wins. Each team is given a stack of cups. The team who has the tallest tower at one minute wins. For this one you will need 2 empty tissue boxes, 2 belts and 16 ping pong balls. Put slits on the two sides of the tissue box to slip the belt through. Fill each tissue box with 8 ping pong balls. Each person playing ties the belt around his waist with the box in the back. They both have one minute to dance around until all of the ping pong balls (seeds) have been bounced out of the tissue box. For this you will need 2 straws, 40 marshmallows, and two plates. Each person will have one minutes to get 20 marshmallows (sheep) into the plate (the pen) with the straw. For this challenge you will need 10 3"x 14" pieces of poster board and about 40 cups. Give each player 5 pieces of poster board and a stack of cups. Each player builds a ladder with the poster board for rungs. The team with the tallest ladder wins. Each team gets a copy of Joseph's coat to color. They have one minute to color it on their head. Each player must use at least five colors. The team is allowed to give advice on how to color in the lines. The team that does the best job wins. This one I did not end up doing. Here's how it could be done. You will need 20 old Bibles. Each team will have one member help another team member stack 5 Bibles in each hand. Then they will have to walk across the room with all 10 Bibles without dropping them. The team that gets all 10 Bibles across the room first wins. This challenge is in reference to Deuteronomy 33:17. Give each team a bag of Honeycomb cereal. Each team will have one member lie down on the ground while another team member stacks the honeycomb cereal, one on top of the other, to look like a unicorn horn. The team that has the tallest horn wins (without cheating). For this challenge you will need to print out two pictures of the brick wall below onto cardstock. Fold the cardstock in half like a card. Place the cards at one end of the table. Both teams have a member blow the card across the table and then try to get the card to hang off the edge without falling off. If the card falls off then they have to start all over. Bounce a ping pong ball at least twice to knock over Goliath. The first person to do it in under a minute wins. Here's a printout for you to use. For the Champions I made these trophies out of Toblerone. Just print out the picture below. Cut it out and glue it to the top of a Toblerone. The students loved it. This is all the further we have studied this year. If we come up with more games I will be sure to post them on here. Good Luck! Check out my other New Testament Minute to Win it game. Here's another fun game to play with scriptures. I also have Grinch Minute to Win it Games And Alice in Wonderland Minute to Win it Games And Frozen themed Minute to Win it Ideas

Saul was the first of Israel’s kings. Prior to this, Israel had functioned as a confederation of tribes, but the people felt they would be stronger if they had a king. Samuel didn’t like the idea because it was a rejection of God’s kingship over the people. Nonetheless, God directed Samuel to anoint Saul as the first king. These activities are about King Saul and Samuel.
