Hi all! Hope you're having a cozy Sunday. Today I'm sharing a card I made a few months ago using Karen Burniston's Ring Accordion Album die, which was released this summer. It was so hard to save this one until now - I am so in love with it! I'm always a sucker for this color combo. Kraft and red with a touch of aqua is such a fresh Chrismas/Winter look. For my card, I first cut the panels from kraft cardstock and added the scalloped border that was cut from red cardstock. For the inner panels, I layered red cardstock with a kraft panel that was stamped with white paint. I fussy-cut the decorative elements from My Mind's Eye Christmas paper and adhered everything with foam dots. To add a little sparkle, I adhered glittered snowflakes that were cut with the snowflake die included in Karen's All Seasons Tree set. Finally, I sponged the edges with white paint to give it a soft and frosty look. I hope you enjoyed my card today! Everything can be found at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Inspiration Emporium via the links below. Remember to use my coupon code - stamptramp - to save 10% on your order! If you think holidays are weird these days, then you clearly haven't seen these 19th-century Victorian Era Christmas cards that were just as creepy as those times themselves. Bored Panda has gone through an expansive TuckDB Ephemera's vintage Holiday greetings postcard collection to gather some of the most bizarre postcards ever made. From frogs stabbing each other to Krampus (a half-goat, half-daemon) entertaining the ladies in the best Victorian Era fashion manner... Yeah, there isn't a more random way to say 'Merry Christmas' to someone these days, but when you think of it, these seasons greetings actually work as a time machine and reveal the relevant topics of those days.

Hello fellow stampers! Welcome to week 11 of the Heart of Christmas Stampin’ Up! blog hop for 2023! Each week until 27 November the Art With Heart team will showcase Christmas cards and projects to inspire you to create your own. Stampin’ Up! have released a few more products under the Online Exclusives section where some items coordinate nicely with those in the September - December Mini catalogue. One of these products is the Traditions of St. Nick DSP. One of the sheets contain images of the traditional Saint Nicholas and these can be die cut with matching dies from the Saint Nicholas stamp and die bundle. Super easy! The Christmas trees are from the same sheet and have been fussy cut. The card is normal size and opens in the middle where each flap has a Mossy Meadow card stock base and a DSP layer. The patterned paper sides contain a few sheets with the rich brocade pattern that complements the traditional images of St. Nick. The centre panel with the Noel greeting was lying around from a previous project using the Joy of Noel stamp set. I have stamped with Real Red ink and gold-embossed the ‘Joyous’ sentiment. This panel locks behind St. Nick (raised on dimensionals) to close the card. When you open the card the centre panel displays the same brocade panel with the Basic White panel for written messages. The panels on either side have a DSP panel mounted on Mossy Meadow card stock. The inside sentiment is from Saint Nicholas stamp set and inked with Real Red. Please head on to the next participant for more Christmas inspiration the lovely and very talented Judy May. If at any time you find a broken link please head to the blog of our host, the lovely Sharon Davern and she will have the list of all those participating. Don’t forget to check back next week for more Christmas projects. Hope you have a fabulous week ahead!

I have been feeling some feelings lately. Like, feelings of well-being. Like, spontaneous-breaking-into-song-and-general-wonderfulness-type feelings. I know… It sounds pretty floofy, but I can’t help it. And I can’t explain it either. I do not know where the feelings came from, when they started, nor why they’ve been persisting. Maybe it’s menopause? Or some sort of hormone imbalance?...Read More »

You are invited to a tea party! I am a big fan of tea and changing their flavors, discover new ones and collect favorites! One day I was drinking one and thought that the paper used to make them is super strong! It stands very well the heat and keeps it`s shape while in the hot water! Most papers disolve in the water and specially when hot so I decided to give it a try and work with these tea bags! It is so much fun to discover that everyday things can be transformed into creative endeavors! Here is what I did: After use, I left them to dry alone, this will give them some beautiful aged color, then I removed the tea by cutting one edge, carefully removed the thread and now they are ready to work with them! Tip: Use the removed tea for your plants and garden! I`ve stamped on them with permanent ink adding two or three layers of different stamps, I think black looks wonderful for it gives a nice contrast but why not trying other colors? I just love them! Simply like this, they can be used to make beautiful seasonal cards! Then I thought: Why not make some cute tiny pillows with them? So I filled them with a little stuffing! I also though I could add a drop of a nice scent and place them in a bowl to add a nice touch in a corner. Then I`ve tried sewing them, this has to be carefully done but they hold! In some cases they started to fall appart but I added a coat of medium on those parts and voila! Write beautiful sentiments on them! To end, I added a cute iron on embellishments on gold and used my pen to add some accents and voila! You could make tea bag ornaments with them! I hope you are inspired to make your life even more beautiful and change your ideas of trash being a waste! R e c y c l e M a k e A r t Make Happy!

Happy New Year! Here is to a wonderful 2014!! I try to do a project "year in review" each year. I like to look back on my "life's work" and I think many of you Readers like it, too! I picked a bunch of projects that I made during 2013. I chose those that I really liked. Either I just liked the finished result or I liked the technique - something about this set of projects just "hit the bull's eye"! This post is LONG and photo-heavy, so grab a snack and settle in! I created this card for a guest DT spot with Our Daily Bread Designs. I love how it came together. I love the paper, the stamps, the crinkled edges, the paper piercing. All of it! I made this canvas for Hampton Art in the late summer/early fall. I had not done any "all mixed media" in a while so I really enjoyed this project. I just let my messy flag wave and had a blast! This card has been around the block. It appeared at Winter 2013 CHA, was published in a magazine, was used on several blogs, plus I featured it on my blog as part of a card series. It is one of my all time favorite projects ever. I love the image, love the papers, love it all to pieces! I created this shadow box/photo frame for a friend (who has finally received the project!). I love this paper and had a fun time altering the box, chipboard, and metal items. This is another card from my card series. This one was published as well. Yes, I sure love me some Graphic 45 paper! Here is another take on the Valentine image! I love mixing patterned paper! Proof that I do have paper other than Graphic 45 in my stash! I don't do pink often, but sometimes...I just love something girlie! And again, there is a nice mix of prints here! This card is one of those cards that just jazzed me up. I don't stamp directly onto paper very often, but this just worked out so well. I was so impressed with it when I was finished. I really love the IBS stamps! So pretty! I created this mini for Hampton Art, for their CHA booth. You need to see the inside - here is the LINK for the "guts." It is one of those projects that I enjoyed making so much that I hated to send it off. This is a wooden box that I made for my daughter to put her art pencils into. I love gluing a mix of flowers, metal, and other junk to stuff. It makes me happy! I did not have much time to color with Copics in 2013. This is one of the few times I did. I love the little image and all the layering and embossing on this card. And here is another Easter-y card. Embossing, banners, stamps, oh my! I love kraft and pink together! Ok, here is a spring-time card that I made for the Graphic 45 Place in Time card class series. If you want the project sheets for the year, click HERE. I love how this one turned out. I don't do very many "white space" creations. But every once in a while, I make one and BAM, it just turns out so well. I did not do very many page layouts in 2013. I was so busy with card work and altered items. I made this one for Hampton Art for winter CHA. I loved playing with mixed media stuff! I grew up on the banks of this creek in central Pennsylvania. It's so beautiful. Sometimes, a card comes together and it has a look about it that is so peaceful. That is how I feel about this card that I made for one of the Graphic 45 Newsletter tutorials. Another card from my Place in Time monthly set. This one is for a wedding (or anniversary). I made this card for my niece's wedding this past June. Her colors were purple, yellow, and green. I really love how this turned out, especially the flowers and layering! This one was from the G45 retailer card classes. I love the rosette! And the beachy feel. Here is the project sheet for it. And another one for summer. Adore the girls and the stars. I have a think for red, white, and blue! Oh and banners, love 'em! Like I said, I love red, white, and blue. I bleed it! I love my country (not it's politics, but the earth, the people, the constitution, you get my drift). My dad and all four brothers served in our military. I made this layout of my 2nd oldest brother. It is simple, but I just love it. I used the same photo to make a shadow box. Love love love the rosettes and the stamping! This card is one of those that, when I look at it, I think....wow, that's pretty! I really like all the printed papers! (Not Graphic 45, notice! hee hee) This card is one of those that I look at and think, "Did I make that?" It is fun and has a few great techniques! I "felted" the paper for the flower using,,,chalk! I mean, really?!! This is another one that is not my normal style. I used a lot of glitter. That for a start is not me! {giggle} And, classic Graphic 45! French country, ooh la la. What more can I say. Oh, and chalkboard! I love this one because it is back to my "roots" of collage stamping! Ok, this is a tag that must weigh 10 pounds! I love it. It has so much going on that I can sit and gaze at it for hours. {Maybe I do need a 12-step program!} Love the flowers and the flowered paper. And the red. An easel card. Gotta love those, right. Here is the project sheet for this one! And because I love that image and paper so much, another card! Layers. Ahhhhh, so nice! One of my all time favorite mini albums! This album is filled with goodness. Here is a LINK to see the inside! I adore that image. I just think is is so precious! So... I used it twice! {wink} This one has a project sheet. Click HERE. I cannot resist a rosette! I think this is so fun! Here is the project sheet for it! Awesome mini book, with TAGS! Too fun for words! And there is a project sheet for you! Another lovely image! Fall colors are my favorite colors! Plus, I love pumpkins! {And pumpkin pie!} This is a mixed media piece that I made. I used a white wash technique on the papers. I love how this turned out. I really love it, but I gave this to my friend, Jacquie for Christmas. I may have to take it back.... {just kidding!} There is nothing like making a box and stuffing it with cards! This project was HARD, but the end result was so cool. Check HERE for project sheets. Ok, the rest of these are Christmas cards. I love vintage Christmas images! As you can see, I love love love to layer papers! The process of choosing papers it the most fun! I love it when I pull out several manufacturers and mix and match papers. It is like a puzzle and a game all at once. I hope you enjoyed this stroll through 2013! Have a Happy and Blessed New Year!

Finally I am back to blogging. I must first thank everyone who has left comforting words and kind messages about our family's recent loss. Many of you will have guessed that it was my father who passed away. He had become very sick over the final months and was suffering greatly. Mingled with our sense of loss is relief that that suffering is now over and he is at peace. He is hugely missed and has left an enormous hole in our family which is felt very keenly. He was 93 years old. He always wanted to see my latest artwork even though he could barely focus due to macular degeneration. When I am drawing now I often pause and wonder if he is looking over my shoulder. I hope he is and I hope he likes what he sees. Christmas is fast approaching but I started the 2010 Christmas card design early which is just as well as I ended up doing two. The first one was the sheep drawing below which was rejected in favour of the graphic black hares. Pity as I thought the sheep were really cute. They are for my eldest brother's business Christmas cards which you may remember I do every year. The black hare design is a reworking of an original roundel which I did many years ago but the corn has been replaced by winter umbellifers and snow. Much more seasonal. Which do you prefer? Well, the sketchbook time is passing quickly and I have a lot more pages to fill in before the sending off date. I had to completely deconstruct the book as the cahier paper was totally unsuitable even for my finest ink nib and as for paint... I rebound it with good quality, thick sketch paper and boy was the resewing fun! However, because I knew I would have difficulty filling so many of the original pages I decided to reduce them by about half. Also being better quality paper the book is probably thicker than the original anyway. I have also cheated a teeny weeny bit by using a lot of two page spreads. Below are two of the first drawings I did. My theme is "if you lived here" and I have interpreted it quite loosley in many cases. What do you think so far? I fell in love with these wonderful coconut shell buttons at the K&SS this year. They are perfect for crafty projects and can be bought online from The Textile Garden here. I found some delightful cows to act as models in October. "Oh I wondered what was digging into me" "Mmmm...yum - nice hard, dry, crispy twigs to eat" "Mmm...it tastes even better with the leaves and berries on". The fabulous Knitting And Stitching Show took place at Alexandra Palace in October. It was as wonderful as always and extremely well attended. I was there for 6 hours and still failed to see everything. I bought a couple of excellent books which I will tell you about in another post. A largish proportion of my time there is spent perusing the extensive book stands where you can leaf through all the latest offerings from the art and craft community. Oh if only I had the money and the space to store them... Two lovely wall pieces which caught my eye were Jennifer Willis's Looking For The East below and Elizabeth Brimelow's Machine Stitch Perspectives - a beautiful piece of textile work. There were lots of well-known brand names exhibiting at the show. Rowan's gorgeous fabric display was a big draw as always. I really liked the explosion of colour that was Nel Whatmore's stand. Nel is a very well-known and popular artist and designer from North Yorkshire and has a finger in many creative and artistic pies. You can find more about her beautiful work on her website here and she also has a very colourful blog which you can access from her website. I was very impressed with the standard of work by the Wessex Textile Artists at the show. Their room was delightfully arranged and very popular with the visitors. Here are three members to illustrate the standard but all the work displayed was fabulous. You can find the Wessex website here and if you click on members details you can see the individual artists. Brenda Weeks's work was wonderfully vibrant and colourful. Her embroideries reminded me of exquisitely detailed Indian watercolours. She has a lovely website here with lots more images. Ruby Lever's lovely embroidery hangings were mouthwatering and looked wonderful all displayed in a row. The colours were very subtle and understated and the stitching exquisite. Aren't these just the most gorgeous embroideries? They are the very talented Maggie Hills Alotment Chickens and were very popular in the Wessex Textile Artists stand. I have more photos from the show so I will post about it again next week.
