Published in August, 2015. Reproduction of a hand drawn book. 2011-2012. Travel Book Series 8 "Desert" 《沙漠》 Based on my trip and high altitude syndrome in Atacama Chile, and the daily life in Taiwan. ✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿ This is vol.8 of my artist's books project "travel book series". It's about some daily life treasure in Taiwan and about my memory of a trip to Atacama Desert in northern Chile in 2004. The beautiful place with magical color and landscape, taught me how to use color to express my imagination. Part of the book is about my experience of altitude sickness, the day I visited a 4000 m height village with local people, from the place I lived was just 2000 m. I felt heart break and headache after my short fast walk, but after 24 hours sleeping and drinking lots of water, I felt ok. I always remember how clear and clean in the 4000 m village, I've never seen any color beautiful like the color in 4000 m. ✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿°º°✿¨¨¨¨¨¨✿ Statement: Interested in preserving the duration of memory, I use books to be the carrier of my creations; through the characteristic of page flipping, showing the movement of time and space, resulting in continuous dynamic imagination. The motivation of my travel is to fulfill the image creation mode with books as the carrier, through the moving of the real body, trying to let my real life imitate my duration of memory. On the road, I opened my book and accumulated my strokes page by page. Pages carry the fragments of time, page flipping creates the flux of becoming, books show the duration of the entire life. "Creative journey" is really intended to let the external journey imitate the internal imagination. However, the state of travel itself also lets the creator in contact with unexpected strong stimulation. Experience of these incidents will not disappear overnight. After a long period of precipitation, memories of the last trip will become the base of the next trip; reality and imagination will imitate and promote each other. Through the mode of growth and stacking, repetition and extension to structure the image. Intend to show a spiritual depth instead of the virtual image of three-dimensional distance. Frames in the pages show the sequences of time and space; montage the complex, staggered time and space to express dreams and memories. The binding forms of the carrier become the visual elements throughout the entire artwork; the spread of the book is the moment now, the left pages link to the past and the right pages undertake the future. —— 2004 關於移動記 📖 🌐 ▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░▓░ Full color offset digital printing by HP indigo 5000 with Electrolnk. 105 gsm white double textured fine art paper. 250 gsm white metallic paper.
