Some people consider worshipping nature out in

What could be more important to a child’s spiritual development than learning to “say and pray” God’s Word? Here is a devotional adventure for 3- to 7-year-olds, combining the idea of prayer with Bible memorization—the say of the title. Early readers and younger children, being read to by parents, will be encouraged to “pray God’s Word” by first memorizing an important Bible promise and then saying it back to the Lord. More than three dozen entries include a key Bible promise from the easy-to-understand New Life Version a brief, explanatory devotional a prayer starter that ties everything together Age-appropriate text and colorfully designed pages make this book educational and entertaining for young children. And parents will love what they’re learning!
A habit that's on the heart and mind of so many of us is obedience. We long for our children to obey, "for this pleases the Lord." And, to be truthful, we want our children to obey to have those "smooth and easy days" that Charlotte Mason described. Obedience is a habit that we keep

So I saw something online about God's promises and I don't think we can tell & remind and tell again kids (not to mention adults like myself) enough how much God loves us and how He promises to keep so many promises to us. I chose just 10 for this activity. (Please note the following pics were taken before I made some edits... now it says "God Keeps His Promises) Start by cutting out the promises and writing your own name on the line. Then as you read the scriptures and match the promise, glue the promise over the verse reference. You end up with a page of promises to hang up somewhere in your home to remind you that God Keeps His Promises!! Since I'm pretty sure just about every kid wants to make cookies pretty much every activity, I tied this "God Keeps His Promises" worksheet in with baking... "As sure as dough bakes in a hot oven". I figure while the dough is baking, this would be the perfect activity to work on. I made recipe cards for 4 different recipe... pick your poison! Also in both pink and teal styles! I used this idea in an assembly yesterday, focussing on people we trust and what it means to trust God. This would work really well if you are exploring miracle stories or stories about trust. Suitable verses to use with it might be: Joshua 1:9: Remember, I commanded you to be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid, because the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” Psalm 56: 3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. John 14: 1 Jesus said, “Don’t be troubled. Trust in God, and trust in me I have to admit that this trick is not an original idea. I found the trick in this book: Simple Science Object Talks by Heno Head Jnr and would definitely recommend getting cold of a copy if you can! You will need: A glass of water (about half- 2/3 filled) and an index card. This is what you do: place the index card over the top of the glass, making sure that the whole of the rim is covered by it, and press down. Hold onto the top of the card with one hand and move your other hand down the glass, towards the bottom of it. Carefully flip the glass upside down, making sure you keep holding the card in place. You may get a TINY bit of drip page at this point, but don't panic! Now slowly move your card holding hand out from underneath and the card should stick, holding the water at bay! I love using science in assemblies because it is generally fool-proof, as long as you have a little practice first. I got a teacher in the assembly to sit at the front and asked if they trusted me to turn the glass of water upside down on top of their head? Even if I covered it with the card? They were not too eager! I then performed the science and it went down very well! We talked about the fact that what was holding the card in place was the air pressure pressing upwards (stronger than gravity pressing downwards). Please forgive my scientific explanations- they are not my strong suit! We can't see the air pressure but we know it must be working or the water would drop out. We can't see God but we know that he is there holding us up and supporting us too. The teacher might not have wanted to trust me, but I knew what I was doing and God knows what He is doing! Talk about: What is trust? Who do you trust and why? Have you ever trusted God? When might you need to God? Encourage children to all have a go at he trick, but make sure you have something ready to collect the drips just in case!
Children need to know that they can make a difference, even in the simple acts. We have all been given gifts that are meant to be shared. Serving others instills empathy and develops a call to action. It teaches our children leadership and responsibility.
The describe mindfulness “what” skill in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a technique used to describe experiences and observations without making assumptions or interpretations. It encourages individuals to recognize their thoughts and feelings as valid without necessarily accepting them as absolute truths. The DBT Describe Mindfulness "What" Skill handout presents specific steps to properly use the describe skill. It also includes tips for a client to practice describing. They can begin by sitting outside and observing people and objects, and then taking deep belly breaths. Using this handout encourages mindfulness and helps kids and teens maintain emotional balance. To further illustrate this skill, parents can encourage their child to describe what upsets them instead of resorting to tantrums. Moreover, they can introduce emotional regulation techniques. You are welcome to add-on our DBT “What” Skills Worksheets, which include a 1-page describe worksheet to help apply the skills from this handout. Our DBT “What” Skills handout provides a quick reference to all three mindfulness “what” skills. *This item is an instant digital download. Codependence + its unhealthy relationship pairings. The behaviors, fears, and habits of codependent empaths. Steps for breaking free.
Despite the storm brewing in the sky that night, we had a GREAT turnout for our May Relief Society meeting! The theme was "Rock, Paper, Scriptures." We focused on ways to come closer to the Savior and "hold to the rod." Carrie opened up the evening with some personal experiences and a wonderful video emphasizing the importance of daily scripture study in our lives. We then split into three classes and got to take part in some great discussions. ROCK Teryl told us about her grandfather and the house he built one rock at a time. It was a three year process but the results were a house with a strong foundation and walls that would stand through the years. Even after the house was vandalized, it still maintained its structure and has been fixed up and still stands today. She tied this in with our own lifelong efforts to build upon the rock of our Redeemer. Helaman 5:12 states: And now, my sons, remember, remember that it is upon the rock of our Redeemer, who is Christ, the Son of God, that ye must build your foundation; that when the devil shall send forth his mighty winds, yea, his shafts in the whirlwind, yea, when all his hail and his mighty storm shall beat upon you, it shall have no power over you to drag you down to the gulf of misery and endless wo, because of the rock upon which ye are built, which is a sure foundation, a foundation whereon if men build they cannot fall. PAPER Brianne led a great discussion on journaling and how it blesses our lives-- and the lives of our posterity! We talked about different kinds of journals we can keep: scrapbooks online journals (someone suggested we all try out www.ldsjournal.com !) good old fashioned pen and paper journals family journals scripture journals gratitude journals blogs Not only can we benefit from looking back at past journal entries, but our future children and grandchildren may be able to gain something from them as well. If you think about it, the scriptures themselves are record keeping and "journaling" of ancient prophets. So, in a way, our personal journals we keep can be like our own "scripture" we are writing for our future children and grandchildren to learn and grow from. SCRIPTURES (Holding to the rod): Kimberly lassoed us up and took us on a little obstacle course to drive home her point. Her instructions to us were only this: "Hold on to the rope and follow me." So the group was all walking along clumped together in the loop of the rope. We thought getting up the narrow stairway to the stage was difficult... ...but that seemed like nothing when we realized we hand to climb under a small table!!! Kimberly just kept repeating "Just hold on to the rope and follow me." Most groups went through the whole thing trying to stay inside the loop of the rope. This last group made the realization as they were trying to cram under the table that Kimberly never said they had to stay in the loop. They just had to hold onto the rope! They realized that it would be much easier if they untied the loop and just each held onto it in a straight line. This was a great object lesson that brought us closer together as sisters (literally). We discussed the point of this exercise and applied it to our own journeys in life. Sometimes we get too caught up in doing things a certain way or a way we think it should be done or even the way that MOST people do it. But, that isn't always the most effective way. Ultimately, our instruction is to "hold to the rope and follow me"-- or hold to the rod and follow Him. We need to try to get rid of those distractions or unimportant things that sometimes make it so much more difficult than it needs to be! We shared different things we personally do to bring ourselves closer to Christ and our Heavenly Father-- different ways we have found to do things that work well for US personally. Whether it was methods of scripture study or ways to get rid of distractions in life. After these awesome messages we joined back together to close our meeting. Carrie invited each of us to take a rock from the table in the back of the room and write on it something that was a "spiritual rock" in our lives. Either a favorite scripture or quote. We can display these rocks somewhere as a reminder of having that strong foundation in our lives. And... of course we enjoyed some tasty refreshments together! We had fruits and veggies and dips. Our new friend Ann even brought some delicious Pilipino dishes for us to try! A tasty sesame noodle dish and some potstickers. We always have a great time getting together as sisters and visiting together. And tonight was no different.
