Howard Tangye (b.1948, Australia) has been an influential force in fashion for decades. Lecturing at London’s Central Saint Martins for 35 years, including 16 years as head of BA Womenswear. There, he tutored many contemporary greats, including John Galliano, Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Wes Gordon, Zac Posen and Hussein Chalayan. Examples of Tangye’s portraits are held in many important collections, both public and private, including the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A), Harvard University and London’s National Portrait Gallery. Throughout his teaching career Tangye quietly developed a particularly idiosyncratic art practice. By employing a decisive line with bold applications of richly layered materials, Tangye explores the nuances of the human form in an effort to expose his subjects’ true essence and energy. — Howard Tangye Poppies & Tulips, 2019 Mixed media on Pergamenata parchment 100 x 70 cm (39.37 x 27.55 in) (signed) (unframed) *Framed image is representative only.

About The Artwork "Hidden" is part of the collection "The Garden in Me", drawn using graphite and 24K gold. • This artwork belongs to Iskra Sale’s collection, “The Garden in Me” • Graphite and 24K gold and platinum on paper • The original hand drawn work is printed on high-quality Giclée 308gsm Hahnemuhle Cotton Rag with archival inks • Every piece is overdrawn with graphite and white charcoal. 24K Gold and platinum leaf is hand-embellished and engraved on each piece • Each edition is one of a kind with unique gold and platinum engraving • Each edition from “The Garden in Me”, is unique and individual, created to order by Iskra • Signed on the front and back of the artwork • Shipped with a signed Certificate of Authenticity. The collection “The Garden in Me” reflects Iskra’s fascination with the hidden details of life and how all around us nature grows and exists, indifferent to our presence and passing unnoticed. The garden conceptually represents a microcosm of life’s circle. We are part of this nature, and we can see the circle of life reflected in the changing seasons and birth, death and re-birth all around us. “The Garden in Me”, reflects this connectedness but also urges us to not be scared and see birth, death and re-birth as an essential cycle of change and re-growth. Iskra’s work is very much inspired by her inner fears and the beauty of silence. In viewing “The Garden in Me”, Iskra’s hope is that people will feel their personal connection with nature and understand the hidden signs all around them. It urges the viewer to retain the curiosity and pure joy that is part of the child inside.
