It is the western edge of the greater Rocky Mountains, and the eastern edge of the Great Basin region. The northern extension of the Wasatch Range, the Bear River Mountains, extends just into Idaho, constituting all of the Wasatch Range in that state. Source: Wikipedia This 3D printed relief map was created at a scale of 1:50,000 with 1.5x vertical exaggeration. It's a 9.5"x12" landscape model that stands 2.28" high. The model features a built-in base so it sits level. The print was generated using a five meter DEM (elevation data) from the State of Utah and USDA aerial imagery. The 3D model is shaped from a bed of gypsum powder that's dyed and fused together during the printing process. Next is cleaned and dried before it's dipped in a container of super glue. Finally it was coated in a matte finish to seal and protect it. The result is a full color model that has a coarse sandstone like feel with a smooth finish. This model looks perfect sitting on a desk or shelf, where it's sure to elicit conversation.

This Amazing Septarian Nodule Freeform pendant is 50 x 35 mm with a glue on silver plated bail with a 5 mm opening large enough to fit any chain and most omegas. I collected the rough material for this pendant in south-central Utah. Septarian Nodules are remnants of the ancient seas that covered the Great Basin region long ago. They began as balls of mud and algae the eventually dried. The yellow is calcite, the brown is argonite, and the grey is limestone. This is truly a beautiful piece and would make an amazing addition to your jewelry collection!

The Ancestral Rocky Mountains of Idaho was limited to miogeoclinal sedimentation during reactivation of the Antler uplift belt which controlled development of northwestern Ancestral Rocky Mountains uplifts and basins. Three distinct basins developed in Carboniferous and Permian time: The Early and Middle Mississippian Copper Basin in central Idaho, a regional Pennsylvanian to Early Permian Oquirrh-Wood River Basin in central and north central Utah, and Early to Late Permian Phosphoria Basin in eastern Idaho. During basin formation, ocean circulation was restricted by periodically reactivation of the Antler highland. Chapter 1 introduces the tectonic and geologic setting. Chapter 2 presents the Mississippian-Pennsylvanian contact discussion with the paleo-tectonic setting of the Humbolt uplift in Nevada and its relationship to the tectonic influences in Idaho. Underlying, overlying rocks are discussed before addressing the various Pennsylvanian formations present in Idaho. The chapter closes with the depositional history. Chapter 3 offers plate tectonic models for development of the Ancestral Rocky Mountains. Chapter 4 closes the presentation with the Pennsylvanian-Permian Oquirrh-Wood River Basin development and summarizes the Ancestral Rocky Mountain tectonic impacts in Idaho.
