For the past several years, Jamie Johnson has packed up her cameras and headed to Ireland to photograph the Irish Travellers, capturing the children whose growing up often appears to be very short. Jamie has had a lifelong interest in photographing children around the world (and in her own backyard), giving her a deep connection

Somehow, despite it being one of the first views I'd see each morning from our hall window for 2 whole decades, I'd never been to this area of the North York Moors and, specifically, Roseberry Topping before. So it was all quite exploratory but we had a lovely walk and my usual last minute sprint to what looked a good view point as the light came - and did it work out well! We'd already been chased out of a previous field's viewpoint by a very excitable herd of cows and bull - so it was all a bit unplanned but ended spectacularly, before a post-sunset climb to the surprisingly busy summit. Then after a late evening meal, we drove over to Whitby to wait for sunrise on the west pier - which I presume will make tomorrow morning's photo. We got so, so lucky with the weather throughout, after a very miserable looking forecast it seems we were in the best place in the country for decent gaps in the clouds - according to the satellite images, but the cloud did manage to cling stubbornly to the horizon for the first light of the longest day. Anyway, enough waffling, this is the first photo I've processed after having a few hour's sleep this morning/afternoon. I hope you like!
