Did you notice how the floral stamp which is part of the Four Frames stamp set in April's promotion matches perfectly with the roses from Stampin' Up!'s Elements of Style stamp set? This is such an elegant Thank You card but would also work wonderfully as a Mother's Day card. Are you wondering how I made the layers for the Decorative Label Punch? Here's how to do that - it is really simple. You will need Stampin' Up's Decorative Label Punch, scissors and some adhesive. Using the Decorative Label Punch, punch your cardstock in your choice of cardstock colors. Cut the first layer using the pencil lines above as a guide. They do not have to be exact except at the outside corners where you want to start cutting right at the point. Attach each piece with a 1/16th-1/8th inch overlap as shown below. The completed piece will look like above from the front and like below from the back. If you want a third layer, cut the third layer in half as shown below and trim the outside edges as shown on the left side. Layer again in the same way you did with the previous layer. Today I am going to show you how to make your own buttons using Stampin' Up!'s Designer Series Papers. What is better than being able to coordinate your embelllishments on your cards? Here's what you will need to create your own buttons: Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper 1/2" or 3/4" Circle Punch (Whatever size button you wish to make) Crystal Effects Anywhere Glue Stick Sanding Block Paper Piercer & Mat First, punch out 4-5 circles from the DSP and glue them together using the Anywhere Glue Stick. If you want your button thicker, add more layers. Once the glue has dried, use your Paper Piercer to punch the button holes in your button. Use the sanding block to sand the sides of your button so they are smooth. You may also need to sand the back of the button so it lays flat. Pour a little Crystal Effects onto a scrap piece of paper and run the edges of the button in the Crystal Effects to seal the sides. Let them dry - it should only take a few minutes. Cover the top of the button with Crystal Effects, making sure that you do not clog the holes. If you do, you can always go back with your Paper Piercer to open them back up. Set them aside to dry. Here's what they look like when you are all done. On the right, I added Linen Thread and on the left, I took the white Baker's Twine and colored it using a marker to match the color of the button. Here's the card I made using the buttons. I used a large and small button on the card which I CASE'd from Linda Heller. Now pull out all those scraps of DSP and get started making your buttons too!

The more I play with the Timeless Tropical stamp set, the more I like it. I love the 50's-Hawaiian -surfer vibe it has. The co-ordinating products are lots of fun too. I'm having a great time at the beach. We walked on the beach early today and the wind was really whipping up the waves. So beautiful, even with a few showers later in the afternoon. My sister Chris and I have all our card making stuff spread out on the dining room paper. Happily there are other places to eat, lol! Today, we celebrated my birthday and Chris gave me a French manicure. I never want to do dishes again! I am too lazy to upload any pics from my camera but I do have a card to post. This is such an easy one, no brayer involved, just a couple of sponge daubers. We are working on some Black Magic technique cards tonight and I'll post those soon. Supplies: Stampin' Up! Here's a card I came across that we did back in April but I just love it so I thought I would still share it with you. The sentiment and border image are retired but you can certainly find something that would work! This is a center step card with the butterflies in the center floating above the sentiment. This was done by using small strips of window sheets and securing them to the back of the "step" where the sentiment goes. Here is the inside of the card which gives you plenty of room to sign and write a birthday wish. Here is a picture of the measurements for cutting and scoring for this card. Hello & welcome, I hope you are having a good start to the New Year. What better way to start is with the new Mini catalogue and Sale-a-bration available from today. One of the bundles in the mini catalogue is the Home & Garden bundle (#157919) which is fantastic for those men in your life. The bundle consists of the Home & Garden stamp set (#157910) and the Garden Dies (#157918). All the stamped images including the sentiment, and the die cuts (except the grass) are from this bundle. I stamped the ladder with Soft Suede ink (#147115) on Crumb Cake card (#121685). The rake was stamped with Garden Green ink (#147089) on Basic White card (#159228). The shovel was stamped with Sahara Sand ink (#147117) on Sahara Sand card (#121695). The small spade was stamped with Early Espresso ink (#147114) on Soft Suede card (#119982). The head of the shovel & spade were cut from (retired) Silver Foil. The “grass” is cut with a die from the Horizon Dies (#157778) using Garden Green card (#108605). The Garden Green card had Adhesive Sheets (#152334) adhered to the back before cutting with the dies. The “timber” under the sentiment and for hanging the tools is Soft Suede card. The “hangers” are Basic Black card (#121688). The card front is from the Heart & Home Designer Series Paper (#157928). This was attached to the Garden Green base card. The sentiment, ladder, rake, spade & shovel were all attached with Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) and Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals (#144108). When Stampin' Up! first released their Letterpress plates, I wasn't really excited about them but I just love the one they introduced in the new catalog this year! I just inked the Lucky Limeade cardstock with Lucky Limeade ink and ran it through the Big Shot. I embossed the pear image from the Faith In Nature hostess set (a bargain at $8!) and then watercolored using Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz and Lucky Limeade. I added a few pearls and came up with this beautiful card! Do you ever have trouble getting your pearls or rhinestones spaced evenly? Here's a little trick - use your mat pack. The pearls and rhinestones fit perfectly inside the largest holes and you can get them lined up perfectly straight on your card. UPDATE TO POST (5/29/14): Several people have asked how to get one of these mats to space out your pearls and rhinestones. The mat shown was retired by Stampin' Up! a couple years ago but can be found on online auction sites. However, I thought I would show you how to make your own. Here's what you will need: Crop-a-Dile, window sheet piece, Cardstock piece to draw pattern on, ruler. The holes in Stampin' Up's mat are 3/8" apart. Measure and draw a straight line along one side of the Cardstock piece. Next, measure and draw 3 or 4 lines perpendicular to the other line, making each line 3/8" from the other line. Lay the window sheet over the top of the Cardstock and punch out where the lines cross, making sure it is centered. Now you have a clear piece to add your pearls or rhinestones. Note that the pearls are the same size as the punched hole so you will need to be careful lifting the sheet off after placing your pearls/rhinestones. Posted with Blogsy

Here is another card that we made using the Wetlands stamp set. The multi-colored grains were created using the felt pad technique. If you don't remember it or don't have time to check it out on my Techniques page, you put a bit of several colors of reinkers onto a felt piece (make sure you have wax paper underneath) and use it as a stamp pad. With this particular use, make use your ink areas are touching each other so you get a good stamping. We also double stamped so we got some grains lighter than others. Here's what you will need to duplicate this card: Stamps: Wetlands Inks: Early Espresso, Crumb Cake (reinker), Pumpkin Pie (reinker), Sahara Sand (reinker) Paper: Early Espresso, Soft Suede, Very Vanilla Other: Antique Brads, 3/8" Soft Suede Taffeta ribbon Forever Stampin', Cathy Williams

Good Morning and a Happy Monday to you. Today I am starting a week of makes with the Cool Treats suite which we made at my Craft Extravaganza on Saturday. I fell in love with the Cool Treats as soon as I saw it back in November, mostly because I like cute and I loved the colours of the papers. Many of you will have seen this style of card from me before, it's a bit of a go to for me so I had to re-create it with the Cool Treats. I do have a video on how to make this on my You Tube channel which is HERE It's my most watched You Tube video and although I am not a huge You Tube/video person this is something I have been working on this year. The thing that takes the longest with this card is stamping and die cutting all the little lollies and ice creams, but I do love how they all look! I have used the Stitched Shape framelits which I cannot stop using at the moment, so versatile and such good value. I thought I would share a couple of photos with you from my event on Saturday. I like taking photos of the set up before my events and I get a lot of comments from people saying they love seeing them too! I made all the ladies a little bag with ribbons and sprinkles in for them to use on their projects. Can you see the cute little chocolate bunny too! Got to love a bit of Easter chocolate! My youngest son was invited to a Lego Party the other week. It wasn't hard for me to work out what kind of card to make the 7 year old. I know there are a lot of these types of cards out there and this is my version. Hope you like it. So for this card I used Basic Black, Whisper White, Real Red, Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight and Gumball Green (I'll be sad when this colour goes). I used the Dotted Embossing folder from the Sale-a-Brations Collection as a base plate. The blocks were punched out using the 1" Square Punch and the circle punch from the Itty Bitty pack. I made two layers of circles to give dimension and then I used the white Gel Pen to add highlights and more dimension. I just glued the dots on using a liquid glue which makes it easier to centre them against each other by moving them around till they look right. The Birthday Boy absolutely loved it and I was pretty pleased too. So easy and fairly quick to make as well.
