My Sister-in-Law Cathy Whitacre loves to use her visuals on a magnetic board. I have created a set of these for King Josiah. Cathy's lesson is included and used with permission. This is a short post with a set of printables that can be used as visual aid or a bulletin board. My Sister-in-law, Cathy Whitacre, has permitted me to borrow her lessons to add here. This is a lesson that discusses the Garden of Eden with Adam & Eve. There is a puzzle that also has the black & white so it can be a coloring page for the students. This is lesson five in a 13-week series that I used in my class. I wanted one quarter to introduce the Old Testament with a basic timeline of the people and events. The students can learn what happened in the Old Testament and how those events lead to Jesus. These lessons are a combination of the Life Overview Series and other lessons. They have been updated and tweaked since I taught these. I will show you what I used to blend several posts into 13 lessons. It was basically pick and choose and you can change any to fit your needs. This lesson teaches about Joseph in Genesis. The lesson explains the Big Picture. I used Cathy’s visual with Joseph’s Coat and updated it to make it easier to use. Keep in mind these lessons are slightly longer with very different application reviews. I updated Cathy's coat visual. I rearranged the pieces so they are placed in order instead of random on the coat. I updated the lesson slightly to my style and for a couple of the pieces that I changed. The dreams are interesting to discuss and this worksheet will help the students remember who dreamed it. They just draw a line from the name to the correct dream. Some have more than one dream. There is an answer sheet with scriptures included. Click here to download. I designed this file folder game for the Life of Joseph. The (left) money bag is the cover and can be printed in color or black & white onto color paper. The (right) inside has the numbered 'coins' for the student to put Joseph's life in order. It can be used to review or discuss his life. The top is for the students and the bottom is the completed set for teacher's visual or if you want to use it already done. There is a list of answers with scripture if you want to make a lesson using this. This is designed so that if you prefer to cut out the bag... you can. It is a lot more work, but it can be done. Glue the cover on the file folder and cut it out (both sides of the file folder). Then, glue the inside on. The silver coins are 2" circles. I purchased a punch to make it (so much) easier and perfect. Click here to see the punch. Here are some hints to make it easier to use a punch: For this type of use, I remove the safety shield on the bottom. They usually slide or pop off easily to clean. I cut each strip pretty close (about 1/4") from the circle (but not on the circle). Turn the punch upside down and insert the picture (as shown) inside so you can place it perfect in the punch area to be cut. Squeeze and you have a perfect easy circle! The silver coin pictures can be kept in a sandwich bag, an envelope or these library pockets. You can find these just about anywhere. Craft stores, Dollar Tree and teacher supply stores. I plan to reuse these with future classes, so I did not glue the pocket onto the file folder. They can be Velcroed, but it is hard for the students to get them out of the pocket, so I keep them in a storage bag. Keep in mind, you can use the circle punch to cut circles from gray or silver cardstock for other lessons with silver coins. Click here to download the file folder game. Even though we studied Jesus and Acts after this quarter, rather than removing any pictures, I printed those pictures already on the page along with a couple that we wouldn't have as it's own lesson. This is a lesson that discusses the Garden of Eden with Adam & Eve. There is a puzzle that also has the black & white so it can be a coloring page for the students. I have also added the Magnetic Board Visuals for this lesson. This can be used as a handout for each students also. There is a color visual that can be used for a visual. There is also a plain black & white for the students that can be used as a picture to color. The student can put their puzzle together as you discuss the lesson. It can also be used as a template to enlarge and trace onto a piece of poster board to be used as a visual. You can put the pieces together as you teach the lesson. As Cathy taught this lesson, she had the puzzle drawn and printed on a large poster board. She added a piece, starting at the bottom. I have included the basic puzzle shape in case you have a large outside visual you would like to cut and glue to the house shape, instead of drawing the graphics I have included. To use this flip-chart, just print onto cardstock, laminate and cut around the outside shape to make the book. Put the pages in order and bind on the left side using the flat edge only. This can be used for a review, or as a discussion starter if you have time at the end of class. This can be used if you have early arrivers for students to look at. I just wanted a one page worksheet for my class to teach about prayer for when the people were praying and asking God to help Peter when he was in prison. So, these items can be used for a lot of classes! Even Old Testament lessons like Jonah when he prayed in the big fish and Daniel, Noah, Abraham or Esther. Ezekiel is a fun lesson for the kids! This is a lesson written by my Sister-in-Law Cathy Whitacre. I have included her ideas and visuals, but I have also added some of my own ideas to make a complete post for Ezekiel. There is quite a bit here, but I decided to keep everything together for Ezekiel. Today we are studying Ezekiel. We can find him in the Old Testament and our Bible scripture is Ezekiel 37:1-14. Prophecy is the foretelling of things to come. Ezekiel was a prophet of God. [A prophet tells people what God has said. Deut. 18:18] One Day the Lord came to Ezekiel in a vision (a dream). The Lord showed Ezekiel a valley that was full of dry bones (skeletons). Ezekiel went back and forth over the valley and there were so many bones! These bones represented the children of Israelites that were no longer together as a nation. They are in Babylonian captivity. God asked Ezekiel "Are the bones alive?" Ezekiel answered "You are God. You know the answer." God then told Ezekiel to tell how the Jews of Babylon are like dead bones, never to come together again as a skeleton, or a living body. (Discuss what it would take for bones to work again) As Ezekiel was prophesying in this vision, there was a great noise. There was a rattling sound and all at once the bones started to come together. First bone to bone, and the bones knew which bones to attach themselves to! Once the skeleton was together, then the sinews formed, then muscle, and finally skin to cover all the bones. These looked like living bodies! What was the one thing that was missing? They were not breathing. God told Ezekiel to prophecy them to breathe. Four winds will come up and put the breath of life into them. Ezekiel did as God commanded and the bones became alive and stood up on their feet! A Very large army! An army to serve! The people of Israel felt like they were as 'The army of bones, all dried up and unable to fight'. God calls to them "Oh, My people, I, God, Will bring you back to Israel and give you your own land." God will bring His people back together as a nation. For this part of the lesson: (Discuss what it would take for bones to work again), Cathy uses this foam skeleton for the visual. She cut the same basic shapes out of pink construction paper (or cardstock) for the sinew and brown for the skin. As she discusses the parts of the body, Cathy adds each layer to have the completed body. Cathy also uses plastic skeletons (easy to find during Halloween) added to a container with sand in it. If you really don't want to use real sand, purchase scrapbook paper that looks like sand, or felt/fleece/fabric that looks like sand to lay the skeletons on. These Flap Books are fun for the kids. They love Lift-the-Flap type papers! The directions to use it are included in the download. Color and black & white are both in the download. Click here to print. Cathy made these pretzel and marshmallow bones with the kids... she said they loved it! They had so much fun making them. I have seen these on Pinterest, and this seems to be the original blog post with the photo and more here. Cathy loves to use a magnetic board when teaching Bible class. After printing and cutting the pieces out, number them on the back, laminate and add magnets on the back. The ones she used on her set are about 3/4" round and very thin. They are stored in a clear plastic storage bag with the lesson and other items she uses. This is an updated copy of what Cathy uses for Ezekiel. I tried to use the same basic graphics that she has. This Moses post includes the lesson outline and discusses Jethro visiting Moses in Exodus 18. Jethro suggests to Moses that he needed to put others in charge of listening to the people's problems because Moses was sitting at the tent all day. He told Moses to just handle the really big issues. Cathy has a large yellow poster board size Mount Sinai with the information you see. She adds each part of Mount Sinai, starting at the bottom as she teaches. When I re-created the puzzle, I made it black & white so it can be enlarged easily. The template in the download can also be copied for the students to cut and put together. The change I made was to make it a fill-in-the-blank for the students. When you enlarge it to use as a visual, you can make them statements instead. The students puzzle will look nicer if it is printed onto color paper. This is an overview (extended) lesson on Peter. The visuals and lesson are included along with a matching worksheet. This can be used as a Chalk Talk. Cathy has these visuals in her Bible class materials and I was permitted to recreate them to share with you. I created them a year ago before posting and as I was checking everything, I decided I didn't like the graphic that was used for the large visuals. Cathy used a page size rooster head and when I tried to enlarge any of the graphics I could find, they didn't look right. Some of you saw the original post before I decided to temporarily disable it so I could update it. So, I hope you will give this one another chance! So, although I have really tried to recreate all of Cathy's printables to be like hers, this one is different. I decided to use a full rooster instead of just the head for the full size visuals. These look much better. And, in the last year with a new program I am using, I am able to make the visuals look so much better. And, I liked this so much, I decided to teach it! I had one extra week to fill, and used this one. Peter is just so interesting and I love being able to teach all the main points of a Bible person at one time. This is such a great lesson! This is part 14 of the study of David. Cathy has made the application very easy to understand for the kids. There is also a worksheet you can download to use. Everything is included in the one download for this one. I started with the application from Cathy, but thought it needed an introduction about Absalom. It is a short lesson to show how Absalom acted to others. The application for this lesson is really the main part of the time that is spent. There are heart visuals that have what Absalom acted like on the OUTSIDE and flip the heart over, and the students see what was really on the INSIDE. I suggest you print the visuals onto white cardstock, then cut out a bigger heart from red cardstock or poster board. It will make a great visual. Directions and ideas all in the download. This is a great review worksheet and will help the students think about what they have just studied and how to apply it to them. This lesson about John the Baptist is about him teaching about Jesus and his death. This lesson is used with permission from my Sister-in-law Cathy Whitacre. Matthew 14:1-12 Who was John the Baptizer? John was sent to prepare people for the coming of Jesus. John was a relative of Jesus, his mother Elizabeth was related to Mary. (Luke 1:36) John's birth as well as Jesus' was announced by the angel Gabriel before they were born. God had a plan for both John and Jesus. John's mom was Elizabeth, and his father Zacharias was a priest in the temple. His parents must have taught John about God and the coming of Jesus because around A.D. 28-29, John began preaching about the coming of Jesus. (Luke 3:2) John preached about moral issues. [Discuss] (Luke 3:11-14) John told the people that “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." (Luke 3:16 NKJV) John was telling his listeners that Jesus was coming. Jesus also came to John to be baptized by him. This was an example to those listening to John that what he was saying was true. And, to show those that Jesus was God's Son. (Read Luke 3:22) As John was preaching, he told Herod the Tetrarch that he had made a bad decision when he decided to marry his brother's wife Herodias. John also told Herod of other evil things he had done. Herod's birthday was coming, so he held a party. many people were there. The daughter of Herodias, Salome, danced before Herod and his entire group of guests. Herod was very pleased with her dance and entertainment. He decided to reward her for dancing for him and told her that he would give whatever she wanted. She could have anything; money, gold, jewels, land, cattle, horse, even part of his kingdom if she wanted it. Salome's mother didn't like John because he had preached that she and Herod were wrong for being married. So, after being instructed by her mother on what to say, Salome said "Give me the head of John the Baptizer on a charger (platter)." Herod may have been shocked by her request; he was prepared to give Salome many things. He didn't imagine that a young girl would ask for the head of a prophet. Herod had to give her what she asked for because all those who were there had heard him offer. Herod commanded the head of John the Baptizer be given to Salome and she took it to her mother. What a wicked thing to do to the one who preached the coming of Jesus! John was the first one to die because he believed in Jesus. He was a martyr. When the followers of John heard what had happened, they took his body to bury and told Jesus what had happened. How sad Jesus must have felt. Print the lesson here. This is a short post with a set of Magnetic Board Visuals for Ananias & Sapphira.

This is another in the series from my Sister-in-Law Cathy Whitacre. Cathy loves to use her visuals on a magnetic board. There are two sets perfect for use on a magnetic board that will cover most of Daniel below. After printing the parts that you want to use, label or number the back for easy access while teaching. Then, laminate and attach thin magnets on the backs of each piece. They can be stored in a plastic storage bag. This first set of printables for Daniel is labeled by the chapter, so it will be easy to understand the order. Cathy didn't have a lesson with this set of magnetic visuals, but see below for the corresponding lesson. Be sure to look at the next set also, because there are some pieces that can be used with this lesson. Also, some of these pieces need to be printed with the following set.
