A 12 th century English tile was the inspiration for this tile. The original tile was discovered at the Priory of Acre by Henry Mercer, the founder of the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works. He created a similar version in the early 1900's and sold it through his company. All of my tiles are made of high-fired stoneware clay which makes them frost proof and safe for all-year use outdoors. The tile measures about 4 1/4 inches square and is about 3/8 inches thick. They are hand-pressed and hand-glazed. I hope you enjoy displaying them as much as I enjoy making them. This tile is hand painted with my soft green satin glaze. There is a notch on the back for hanging.
