The French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle (R91) will shortly leave for the Indian Ocean for exercises and to potentially join the air war against the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS). Quoting an unnamed French defense ministry source, news wire Reuters reported the 42,000-ton nuclear carrier would deploy shortly for exercises in the Indian Ocean and when asked if the ship would be joining the anti-ISIS fight the source said, “It’s a military tool. It’s purpose is to be used.” On Tuesday, a French maritime news site — Mer et Marine — reported a de Gaulle led battle

The fast combat support ship (AOE) is the Navy's largest combat logistics ship. The AOE has the speed and armament to keep up with the carrier battle groups. It rapidly replenishes Navy task forces and can carry more than 177,000 barrels of oil, 2,150 tons of ammunition, 500 tons of dry stores and 250 tons of refrigerated stores. It receives petroleum products, ammunition and stores from shuttle ships and redistributes these items simultaneously to carrier battle group ships. This reduces the vulnerability of serviced ships by reducing alongside time. SACRAMENTO class is considered a benchmark in West Coast shipbuilding. DETROIT and her sister ships are the largest ships ever built on the West Coast. Only the Iowa class battleships and aircraft carriers have greater displacements than SACRAMENTO class.DETROIT was placed in commission on 28 March 1970.Item No 05786Item Name AOE Fast Combat Support Ship USS Detroit (AOE-4)Bar Code 9580208057866Scale 1:700Item Type Static KitModel Brief Length: 346.9mm Beam: 77.8mmTotal Parts 340+pcsMetal Parts n/aPhoto Etched Parts 1 pieceFilm Parts n/aResin Parts n/aTotal Sprues 12 sprues, upper hull, lower hull, water line, deck and standPaint Schemes AOE Fast Combat Support Ship USS Detroit (AOE-4)Released Date 2011-04More Features "Hull-slide-molded upper hull and lower hull -Deck w/fine detail-Either waterline or full-hull version can be assembled-Phote Etched parts for ladder, antenna etc.Aircraft-Contains 2 CH-46 & 2 MH-60SStand -Contains display stand."

Not a toy. The F-14 Tomcat is a supersonic, long-range, high endurance interceptor fighter aircraft operated by the US Navy as their primary air superiority fighter and to defend is carrier battle group against anti-ship missiles. The F-14 has a two-seat cockpit with a bubble canopy that affords all-around visibility. It features variable geometry wings that wing automatically between 20 and 68 degrees during flight. For high-speed intercept, they are swept back and they swing forward for lower speed flight. US Navy Strike Fighter Squadron 103 (VFA-103) adopted the Jolly Rogers nickname in 1995 for the sinister white skull-corssbones on all-black tails painted on their F-14's. They provided support in the Yugoslav Wars and participated in the war in Afganistan. Their last deployment with this aircraft was aboard the USS John F Kennedy in the Persian Gulf, with Final Tomcat Cruise added to their famous tails. In December 2004, they returned home from their final cruise with the F-14 Tomcat and began transition to the F/A-18F Super Hornet.
