Olaf - Music History Today: July 20, 2024 July 20, 1947: Carlos Santana was born in Autlán de Navarro in Jalisco, Mexico. He rose to fame in the late 1960s and early 1970s with Santana, which pioneered a fusion of rock and roll and Latin American jazz. Rolling Stone magazine listed Santana as number 20 of the 100 greatest guitarists in 2015. In 2023, Rolling Stone named him the 11th greatest guitarist. He's won 10 Grammy Awards and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998. #carlossantana
