The (sadly rather carelessly handled) LoC photo description page gives the date as ca. 1920 and her name as Drucilla Straine, but it seems like Strain and 1929 are closer to the truth. Very little other info on her that I could find, except that she peformed from 1929 to 1946. Catherine Moylan (born on July 4, 1904 in Dallas and died on September 9, 1969 in Fort Worth, Texas) was an American actress of Belgian origin and the first Miss Universe in 1926. She began her career as a dancer at the Ziegfeld Follies. In the 1920s, she appeared in beauty contests and was named Miss Dallas. She then won the title of Miss United States then became the first beauty queen to receive the title of Miss Universe in 1926 at the International Pageant of Pulchritude competition held in Galveston, Texas. After signing with MGM studios, she began a brief film career in 1930 by participating in two films (the musical film Love in the Rough and Our Blushing Brides ). She died at the age of 65 in Fort Worth, where she was buried in the Mount Olivet Cemetery. When framed, these monochrome prints make an attractive addition to the period entertainment lovers decor.
