Today I'm here with a brand new, exciting blog hop group: Around the World on Wednesday.
Welcome to Freshly Made Sketches! Each week, one member of our design team creates a sketch for you to try. The challenge is to follow our sketch while keeping your project clean-lined and fresh. The "Clean Team" has come up with some "Freshly Made" designs to get you in the spirit. We are so excited to see what YOU create! Welcome to our newest sketch - I'm so glad you are here! It's Kim - and I put this sketch together for you. It's so exciting to be the hostess - maybe just a bit stressful trying to come up with something fun - but it's always amazing to see the variety of cards that come out of a single sketch. I check out every card in the gallery and am in awe of what I see! Thank you for playing along. Check out what the design team did with this one! Lee Ann Barrett Jennifer Brum Linda Callahan Narelle Farrugia Karren Johnson Jen Mitchell Amy O'Neill Cécile Ribon Judy Rozema Kim Singdahlsen Jacquie Southas Jennifer Timko We have a few simple rules to keep things fun and fair for all of our players: Please use any crafting product you would like to use. Feel free to combine our challenge with up to THREE other challenges, except for another sketch challenge. Please add a DIRECT link to your blog or other online gallery when adding your card to the link below. If linking to a public gallery, use keyword FMS373. Include our challenge sketch and a link back to Freshly Made Sketches on your post. Have fun! This challenge will end at 3p Eastern time on Monday, Month xxst. On Tuesday, we will announce the winner of this week's challenge who will be known as the "Queen or King of Clean". The team will choose other gallery favorites to be known as a "Perfect Princess or Prince".

Today I’m sharing my first card made with the Varied Vases Bundle. I knew I would really enjoy this set but just didn’t know how much until I sat down with it last week. It’s such a versatile set and the punch makes it so quick and easy. I did do some fussy cutting on the flowers but that too was pretty simple. I also really like the Basket Weave embossing folder and thought it… Continue reading
Hello! Did you see the news yesterday? My Favorite Things is curating a new card kit that will be different every month, and will feature a sampling of the amazing My Favorite Things products!! I think this is such exciting news!! Have you been thinking about trying the My Favorite Things products but can’t decide where to start? Well here’s your chance!! Each kit will include a sampling of MFT card stocks, designer paper pads, embellishments, and ink pads (mini cubes – yay!!), as well as an exclusive and full sized stamp set and coordinating Die-Namics! I mean, COME ON!! Please click on through to the My Favorite Things Blog to get all of the details and to see an awesome graphic with this month’s kit contents! This month’s kit is GORGEOUS!! This is one of the projects that I created with it! Honestly, my mind exploded with ideas for this kit as soon as I started playing with it! The papers are awesome, and the stamps and dies are so lovely!! I decided to do a bit of a masking technique to create this card. Here are the steps that I followed to create it. Trim an A2 vertical top-folding card base from Gumdrop Green Card Stock. Fold at 4.25”, fold in half and perfect crease with a Teflon bone folder. Die cut a panel from Sweet Tooth Card Stock using the stitched rectangle from the Blueprints 15 Die-Namics. Trim a piece of Stamping Mask Paper to fit the stitched panel. Using the vase dies from the Beautiful Blooms Die-Namics, die cut each vase from the Stamping Mask Paper so that each vase overlaps the other just slightly. Remove the die cuts from the mask (but hang on to them as you’ll need them in the next step!), remove the release paper on the back of the mask and adhere it to the stitched panel. Replace two of the die cut vases back into their corresponding spaces, and blend the provided dye inks (Wild Wisteria, Lavender Fields and Berrylicious) – one for each vase - with a Mini Ink Blending Tool. Repeat this process until each vase is covered, and blended just slightly at the top (also, be sure to blend the two colors on either side of the middle vase). Replace the vase dies from the Beautiful Blooms Die-Namics, one at a time, back into their corresponding space, using the edges of the mask to properly position each die. Emboss the dies into the image panel using an Embossing Pad and your manual die cutting machine. Repeat this process until each vase outline is embossed into the image panel. Carefully remove the masks. Stamp the greenery, one inside each vase, and the sentiment – all from the Beautiful Blooms Stamp Set - using Black Licorice Premium Dye Ink. Wrap and tie green jute (I had this in my stash) into a bow. Adhere Sparkling Clear Sequins to the image panel with Glossy Accents. Adhere the image panel to the card base with foam tape. There you have it!! I love using stamps and dies in unexpected ways. It’s a little more work, but I always feel like I’ve gotten my money’s worth when I try new things! And this really is a super easy technique that packs a fun and unexpected punch! I’ve listed the products that I used below! I hope you’ll click on through to the My Favorite Things Blog to be linked to the other incredible projects that my sweet teammates have created for your inspiration and to see the full contents of this amazing kit! It's a polka dot challenge this week at Less is More, so I decided to use this dotty vase stamp from a Close to my Heart set called Celebration Bouquet. I stamped the vase in black and then added some green stems. Because this is a clear set, I was able to bend the stem on my acrylic block to get just the position I wanted. Instead of using one of the flower stamps that came with the set, I used these fun red-orange paper flowers and added a bit of bling to the center of each. I made two cards, with slightly different flower placements, but on each I bent the far right flower in an attempt to lead the eye down toward the sentiment. One card had a mistake on the back so I cut it down and matted it on a black card base. My 94-year old grandmother passed away recently, and we gathered this weekend to mourn her passing and celebrate her amazing life. We shed a lot of tears, and as she would have liked, we told a lot of stories and laughed a lot, too. This card started out to be a standard birthday type of card, but ended up being a tribute to her. She was bold and vibrant, still going strong at 94, and she was absolutely fabulous. She will be missed terribly. Thanks for your visit today. Supplies: Stamps: Close to my Heart celebration bouquet, PTI sentiment Ink: Brilliance graphite black, Memento bamboo leaves Other: Kaiser Scrapbook flowers, Me & My Big Ideas rhinestones
