Hello and welcome, hope you are well. Spring has finally arrived and it feels good. I had some time to create so decided to use the etcetera tag and some other goodies from Tim Holtz. I started by applying a layer of gesso and when dried I applied crackle paint and used my distress stain in walnut stain and some oxides followed by a layer of antiquing cream from DecoArt. I then used distress crayons in black sooth and some distress ink walnut stain. Here a close up of the crackles. Stencil used here is 'THS051 industrial' and idea-ology metal decorations from Tim Holtz. The tag is made with watercolor paper and distress inks and oxides, I then stamped randomly using background stamps and then used 3D impresslits foundry and some more distress oxides. Then embossed the numbers using WOW embossing powder. Behind the tag I put some corrugated paper. Tickets made with stamps and matching die 'ticket booth' and also the mini clipboard top is die cut in watercolor paper colored using distress inks and oxides. The stamp 'handle with care' is from the set correspondence. Paper doll from Tim Holtz and behind him I have used a stamp from the new set 'the professor' stamped in black colored using distress oxide peacock feathers and walnut stain then fussy cut. Materials used: - etcetera thickboard tag small, Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz - gesso, Finnabair/Prima - watercolor paper - corrugated paper - distress oxides walnut stain, antique linen, ground espresso, antique linen, fossilized amber, Rangers/Tim Holtz - distress ink walnut stain, Ranger/Tim Holtz - distress stain walnut stain, Ranger/Tim Holtz - antiquing cream raw umber, DecoArt - crackle paint, DecoArt - distress crayons black sooth, Ranger/Tim Holtz - fluid acrylic paint cobalt teal hue, DecoArt - stencils THS011 schoolhouse, THS051 industrial, Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz - dies mini clipboard top, tag, ticket booth, steampunk parts, Sizzix/Tim Holtz - 3D impresslits foundry, Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz - stamp set CMS089 bitty grunge, CMS225 correspondence, CMS337 ticket booth, CMS339 mailer, CMS373 the professor, Stampers Anonymous/Tim Holtz - Tim Holtz idea-ology arrows, foundry, typed token, buckle, measurement, paper doll - embossing powder cobalt teal hue, WOW Thanks for stopping by Hugs LISA
MY NEW 2023 HALLOWEEN RELEASE FROM SIZZIX IS FILLED WITH WICKEDLY WONDERFUL DESIGNS THAT INCLUDE ARTSY LEAVES, BIG FRIGHTS,…
Hello Friends, Today I'm sharing photos of the Halloween Card File Box I created for the idea-ology Halloween Release. This is the second Card File I have made, so I just reused the drawer I created for the first one. I put the spring cards in a zip lock bag for safe storage and have added some fun Halloween cards for the season. Maybe I need to make Christmas cards for it too so I can leave it out all year long? I think I need to add that to my list of projects to get done in November. I love these cards because I love the process of making them. It's the kid of project that you don't have to think too much, you just put on the music and go for it. Following the same formula as the first box of cards I made works well... Cut Kraft Stock to size 3 1/2 x 4 1/4" (you need 18 - 25 cards/dividers to fill the box). Add paper backgrounds to all cards. Color all the Paper Dolls. Add ephemera + Paper Dolls + words. I think the background paper is key to the project. I used idea-ology Backdrops Halloween - which btw could be used year round! The colors and patterns go together so well that it made it very easy to create the collaged cards. I also added some Halloween Worn Wallpaper to the mix since it has a different look (like old wallpaper) and texture. All cards were cut using the Black Kraft Stock Stack, which is a pack of 24 sheets of heavy, black, 6 x 8" Kraft Stock (black on one side, kraft on the other). That way all cards are black on the backside without any effort. For the front of the cards, I used my Tonic Trimmer to cut various strips of paper, from 1" to 3". Once I had a little stack of papers, I glued them to the cards with Collage Medium, cutting away the excess paper with scissors. Could not be any easier. Once the cards were covered, I used a corner rounder to (obviously) round the corners of each card. Next up is the stitching. I love stitching on paper so I added some stitching on each card, leaving the threads long (this really does add to the project). Once the card were done, I set out to color a huge bunch of the Halloween Paper Dolls and a could portraits that come in the pack. You can see the the main color I used was Crushed Olive, with Faded Jeans coming in a close second, followed by Black Soot, Aged Mahogany, and a bit of Rusty Hinge. I like to color the dolls all at once, so I can have a large stack ready to go. Now you are ready to assemble the cards using the Halloween Ephemera pack, Mini Flair Halloween, Halloween Layers, and the absolutely fabulous Snippets pack that has all the tiny labels you will ever need...until you use them all and have to buy another pack! I have highlighted a few of my favorite cards: words - Sticker book crow - Ephemera pack crayons - Rustic Wilderness on the sweaters + Aged Mahogany on cheeks button - Mini Flair blue label - Snippets pack words - Sticker bookcrayons - Crushed Olive Crayon on the background + Aged Mahogany on cheeks bottom and left side background paper - Worn Wallpaper Halloween card with calla lilies - Ephemera pack round label - Snippets packwords - Sticker book crayons - Crushed Olive Crayon on tie + Faded Jeans for suit flower - Worn Wallpaper Halloween left background paper - Worn Wallpaper Halloween flashcard - Ephemera pack label - Snippets pack button - mini flair pack mask - Sticker book crayons - Weathered Wood on dress + Crushed Olive detail stripes on socks - POSCA pen left background paper - Worn Wallpaper Halloween pharmacy label- Ephemera pack label - Snippets pack mask - Sticker book words - Sticker book crayons - Chipped Sapphire suit + Crushed Olive vest and shirt buttons on shirt - POSCA pen butterfly - Layers pack 31- Ephemera pack label - Snippets pack words - Sticker book crayons - Rusty Hinge dress stripes on socks - POSCA pen poison label - Ephemera packbat wings - Halloween Transparency pack label - Snippets pack words - Sticker book crayons - Peeled Paint on dress + Aged mahogany on cuffs and collar stripes on socks + buttons - POSCA pen These next few cards were created as filler or "breaks" between the cards. lotto card - Layers pack + flash card - Ephemera pack spiderweb - Layers pack In Loving Remembrance - Layers pack All buttons - Mini Flair Halloween owl - Layers pack patterned paper - Worn Wallpaper Halloween button - Mini Flair Halloween prescription card - Layers pack crow - Ephemera pack button - Mini Flair Halloween word - Sticker Book green tag - Ephemera pack + man and words from the Sticker book. As for the box I put the cards in, it is the largest of the Vignette Boxes that comes in the pack. I had my husband cut two pieces of wood to hold the cards up. These were wood pieces from other Vignette projects where I did not use a shelf here or there and saved the left-over pieces (I never throw that kind of stuff away). Once the dividers were glued in with Collage Medium, I painted the inside black so it looks like it came that way. Once dry, I chose a paper to cover the body of the box. Any pattern will work! I hope you give this project a go! I love making these cards, in fact I find them kinda relaxing, as there is not much thought...because anything goes! The layers of Ephemera and Paper Dolls are fun to create with and tell a story, like the boy with the crow on his head! now carry on, paula

Hello everyone, I'm back from a long holiday and here is my first project. I made a birthday card with Rupert, the dragon. I have had this die set for a while but it remained untouched. Now I thought he deserved a birthday card. I cut out all the main elements of Rupert from white watercolour paper then I painted with acrylic paints. Here you can see the DecoArt paints I used. Then I added pearls shine to the cutouts (DecoArt Rayher Perlschimmer). For the eyes, I used Nuvo Black Crystal Drops. I found the hat die in a Sidekick Side-Order set, called Birthday. The birthday gift is from a Sizzix Christmas set and I had to cut it a little smaller. And the balloon was in the Circle Play die set. I cut out the elements from yellow and purple papers. The balloon is attached to Rupert's tail with a thread. My goal was to give a background to Rupert which will emphasise him. So in the end I decided to choose a white background with embossed roses on it. And why roses? Because in Hungary there is a famous dragon, Süsü who's best friend is the little prince and who wanted to be a rosebud because then the butterflies would fly on him. He adored the butterflies. He was a very gentle dragon and I assume Rupert is a kind spirit too. The text is from one of my favourite stamp sets, because I use the Crazy Talk a lot. I stamped the texts on black card with embossing ink, then I heat embossed with Super Fine white embossing powder. Don't forget to use the Ranger Anti-Static pouch! What I used: Sizzix Thinlits die, Rupert Colorize (665361) Sizzix Thinlits die, Mini Christmas Things (662418) Sizzix Sidekick Side-Order die, Birthday (662703) Sizzix Thinlits die, Circle Play (663868) Stampers Anonymous, Roses stencil (THS075) Stampers Anonymous, Crazy Talk (CMS236) Ranger embossing powder (Weathered White, White Super Fine) DecoArt Americana paints (Forest Green, Sea Aqua, Foliage Green) With this card, I would like to join the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Mixed Media

Hello! Here today with a card that I created for our monthly stamping group...the theme was a "hilarious card." Well, I do not have any funny (punny) stamp sets, so this was a wee bit out of my comfort zone. Here is the result... This is the first time that I was able to play with Tim Holtz/Sizzix "Funky Insects" thinlet dies. What a fun group of bugs to play with! I ran the dies through using watercolor paper, then watercolored them with numerous Tim Holtz/Ranger Distress and Distress Oxide Inks. They are spattered with Windsor and Newton White Gouache. They are popped up from the background using foam tape. The base of the card is watercolor paper with a frame of black cardstock. The sentiment is made up with Tim Holtz/Sizzix Alphanumeric Label Font dies, so handy to create your custom sentiments with. The little heart is from a punch from my stash of tools. The letters are mounted on a Stamp Simply Fishtail Banner sentiment die and adhered with foam tape for dimension. And, that is about as hilarious as I can get. It's good to be challenged to make you think out of the box. I should do it more often. Thanks for stopping by and taking a look!

Hi everyone and welcome to another Saturday Showcase, the Design Team's chance to share tutorials and products available from The Funkie Junkie Boutique with you and kick start your creative weekend. Today I'm sharing the tutorial for two cards made combining Seth Apter's new Baked Velvet Embossing Powders with Tim Holtz new Typography Collage Paper and Wildflower Stems Thinlits Die Sets. Here are the finished cards (click on each image for a closer look); Let's get started on making these cards. Begin by covering a 6 inch wide piece of white card with the Typography Collage Paper using Distress Collage Medium Matte and a Collage Brush to stick it in place. Using the Wildflower Stems dies cut various stems and flowers from the Collage Paper card. Apply embossing ink over some of the thinner stems and cover with the Aegean Sea Baked Velvet Embossing Powder. Since these powders are translucent when heat set you can still see all the detail from the Collage Paper underneath and the various shades of yellow/brown will also affect the colour seen on top. Repeat the process for the leaf stems, this time using Dusk Baked Velvet Embossing Powder. Repeat the process for the flower stems, this time using Vintage Beeswax Baked Texture Embossing Powder. Cut pieces of white card to fit your card blanks and stamp lines of stitching using Tim Holtz Stitches stamp set with Wendy Vecchi Peat Moss Archival Ink. I used a Stamp Platform for this so that I could easily stamp the same images onto separate pieces of white card for each card. Apply Opaque Texture Paste through some of the Stitched Layering Stencil between the stamping and leave to air dry. Stick pieces of lace over the stamping - I used Venise Lace Trim and Metallic Gold Crocheted Ribbon, both available from The Funkie Junkie Boutique. To finish glue the embossed leaf stems and flowers over the lace and ribbon before adding a Transparent Wings butterfly and stamped sentiment (the two used for these cards came from Wendy Vecchi's new Delightful Art Stamp/Stencil set). Matt the card onto a kraft layer before adding to the card blank. Here are some close ups so you can see more of the detail; Hopefully this tutorial will kick start your own ideas for using Seth Apter's new Baked Velvet Embossing Powders and Tim Holtz Typography Collage Paper. Don't forget, if you use tissue in your projects there's still time to enter the current Frilly and Funkie challenge 'Pass The Tissues, Please!' All the products used are available from The Funkie Junkie Boutique and are listed below. Hello friends! If you have watched the Tim Holtz YouTube live, then you know by all the amazing makes created with this Chapter 3 collect...
Hello everyone! I'm back today with the remainder of my cards created for the Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 release. I have enjoyed creating with this release so much, as I know all of you will too! I did these cards back in October, November, so hopefully I can remember what I did! First up are two cards created with the Wildflower Stems #1 and Wildflower Stems #2 Thinlits sets. If you loved the previous Wildflower sets, you will love these slightly larger ones. I die-cut my flower shapes for this card out of Tim Holtz Mixed Media cardstock. I then covered my flowers with a light coat of Ranger's Crackle Paste. I let this air dry before colouring. I use a combination of Distress crayons, Distress Markers applied with a Watercolour pen. I apply a small amount of the crayon, then rub it into the crackled paper with a bit of water, usually using my fingers. Love how the crayons get into the cracks, highlighting them. I usually use a darker crayon in the cracks as it shows up a lot more. I think I used the Stormy Sky, Tumbled Glass, Walnut Stain, Peeled Paint, Bundled Sage crayons (sorry I didn't write it down!). Patterned papers from Wallflower, and cardstock are layered, stitched for my card base. A bit of ephemera, vellum ephemera and Clippings Stickers go on next. A small frame die-cut with Stacked Baroque and Distressed Woodgrain cardstock, then treated with Distress Stain and Crackle paste to highlight my flowers is next. The ribbon is stained with Distress Spray Stain. These Wildflower Stems were die-cut from Mixed Media cardstock coloured with Distress Oxides. I believe I used Dried Marigold, Squeezed Lemonade, and Antique Linen. The background paper is also from Wallflower(TH93110) and cardstock. My sentiment is die-cut with Gold Metallic Kraft Cardstock and the Thin Sentiment Words Thinlits(661807) set, which sorry, I didn't realize has been retired. The Thin Alphanumeric Set is still available and a great 3/8" 121 pc set, same font! Using the Sizzix Sticky Grid sheets when lining up your letters, is a must have for me! I added a painted Butterfly Adornment(TH93689) and stained ribbon, along with stained Tim Holtz Mummy Cloth. I'm so attracted to these larger negative space (not sure if that's what you call them!) dies. I've always admired those paper cut artists, how I wish I had the patience and talent like them; so I guess this is the next best thing! When I have them in my hand, I'm always trying to think of different ways to use them. I had created a card a long time ago using this layout, so I thought why not with this Organic Thinlits die. This die does not have an outer edge, so you determine how big you want your border. I die-cut this out of a dark grey cardstock and cut out my two triangles on each end. Because this is a rectangle shape, you won't be needing part of the middle section. I just measured one side and marked the opposite side the exact same measurement. With my craft knife, I just cut across. This 6 x 6 card worked well for the size of triangles I ended up with (about 1/4" border). I just cut a strip of matching cardstock to adhere across the top, finishing off the triangles before adhering to my Wallflower patterned paper/cardstock mat. I also stamped and die-cut foliage from the Flower Jar Thinlits with matching stamps (CMS297). The butterflies and bee are from Entomology stamp set(CMS328) and Entomology Framelits set. These were lightly tinted with Distress Markers. Add in a Small Talk Occasions(TH93245)sticker and some dyed ribbon and Bouquet Findings (TH93569) to complete your card. This time, I used the Organic die in my background. I die-cut it with Distress Mixed Media Cardstock cut to measure the width and height of my Etcetera 8 x 4 1/2" tag. With no outer edge on this die, I can make it the exact size I want. I placed the die where I wanted the pattern to sit on my tag. Adhere this to your tag with Distress Collage Medium. I then applied Ranger's Crackle Texture Paste all over, trying not to apply too heavy so you don't lose the detail and dimension of the die-cut. In some of the recessed areas I wiped away a bit where I had too much and along the edge, I used more so the pattern blends into the edge. Once dried, use Distress Crayons to colour. I used Peeled Paint, Walnut Stain, Forest Moss and Antique Linen. For my small frame, I die-cut with Stitched Rectangles and Distress Woodgrain Cardstock that was stained with Distress Stain Spray. I also applied Crackle Texture Paste to random parts of the frame, then coloured with Distress Crayons. A piece of Ephemera behind the frame completes it. I also die-cut a Flourish with the 3-D Flourish Impresslits Embossing folder in Mixed Media Cardstock, painted with Distress Paint. My pink coloured trim was die-cut with the 3D Mini Provincial Impresslits Embossing Folder. To finish off my tag, I coloured the Bouquet Flowers (TH93569), ribbon, and Mummy Cloth with Distress Spray stains, a piece of Fringe(93688) and adhered Clippings Stickers(TH93583) and a Botanical Paperie Butterfly(TH93554). That's the rest of my Tim Holtz Sizzix Chapter 1 cards. I have more to share from his Sizzix Chapter 2 release and all my projects for the Idea-ology Booth at Creativation, coming soon. Hope you come back to visit me! Make sure you check out the other designers who also created for Tim Holtz, he will be posting about that. Their projects are so amazing! Thanks so much for visiting, Jan

Hello! I had to drop everything and make a card to celebrate Simon Says Stamp's 9th Birthday! Happy Birthday! I used Distress Oxide inks to color the two background panels (Chipped Sapphire, Stormy Sky, Antique Linen, Pumice Stone) and stamped the top one with a Fragments stamps. A Crochet die cut underlines the birthday greeting--a Stampin' Up 'birthday' and Tim Holtz Sideorder 'wish' die cut. There are silk flowers from my stash topped with Funky Floral #3 die cut blossoms and a rare sequin. (I was inspired by all the sequins on the SSS DT makes.) And because it's a special birthday, I even got out my sewing machine and stitched around both panels. The Cutout Blossoms die cut allows that pretty blue oxide background to peek through. The foliage is from the same Funky Florals set. It's rare to see such a short post from me, but it's filled with big birthday wishes for Simon Says Stamp! Hugs! It's time for more TFJB Inspiration Ave, and we've got some new items hot from Tim Holtz's new Everyday Collection for Sizzix here and they do not disappoint! It's Lyla here - taking the first turn on showing you what one of Tim Holtz's new die sets - Gentlemen - looks like. At the first glance, I fell in love with this clean cut, and easy to use set of 5 pieces! You'll notice these new sets are actually less small pieces since they are put together to help make easier matching of the pieces- a huge bonus in my opinion. Scroll down with me and let's take a look at what I did with my choice from the Everyday Collection, and what resulted from that. GOODIES... from The Funkie Junkie Boutique! These are the main items I wanted to use... ... along with some Mat Board, these were my choice pages from Tim Holtz. (List given below.) These are so precise and easy to use- it's been a long time since we've had just simple, but so detailed, fun shapes like this, and I thoroughly enjoyed these! I cut all I needed for the first side of my Etcetera Mini Tag. I still like to stack my shapes- especially if they are going to move. The half man is explained next... I noticed that the "Lefty" was touching his hat with his hand, but "Righty" seemed to be touching his eyeglasses. So, I turned my paper to the opposite side, and cut enough layers to make a "Righty" arm and hat so they would both be tipping hats to each other. I carefully trimmed away the unneeded arms on both guys, since both arms would need to move. TH IdeaOlogy Long Fasteners come in very handy here since they are both long and skinny enough to fit the small arms. Once all the pieces were moveable, I inked the edges and heat dried. For the background: I took a sheet of Mat Board and traced the shape of the Etcetera Mini Tag over it, cut it out, and then cut out a "T"-shaped area where the arms would move back and forth in a sideways motion. Another piece of Mat Board was needed to make a slightly thinner T shape with a longer handle piece. The length would be trimmed as needed to fit. The top of the T (or left side as shown sideways) in the hollowed-out area allows the filler T to move back and forth, yet not come all the way out. Then I traced and cut out the choice papers from the TH Backgrounds Vol. 1 for both front and back. The back could be put on right away, but I needed to figure out where the arms would attach to the T board, with the paper in between having only a slight slit opening for the Long Fastener to fit through. I gave both backgrounds a workup with Distress Oxides in Vintage Photo, and Ground Espresso. I did some water spritzing, heat drying between, and finally. stamping with some TH Vintage Photo Distress Glaze. Here, I was covering up the trimmed pull handle- gluing it only to the handle, but allowing it to slide over a bit of the background freely. This is what the finished FRONT looks like before the final layer over the T. This is what the BACK looks like before the covering up. After the 2 guys are affixed to the background, both moveable, I ran the TH Walnut Stain Distress Crayon over all the edges of the Tag. Don't forget to heat dry after crayoning. The same steps used for the BACK- cut all the die pieces needed to stack up and make all three guys ("Middle Guy" wanted in on the fun). Ink the edges and heat dry and they're ready to play! Top hats and canes needed rose boutonnieres, in moho. These were leftover stash ribbon roses from Princess Judith Rose's box. And this is what I ended up with... FRONT SIDE BACKSIDE And yes... on the FRONT SIDE... they tip their hats to each other on the way in to work! Thanks so much for joining me for the kickoff of the new Everyday Collection Dies! Be sure to go to The Funkie Junkie Boutique and check out the TONS OF NEW ITEMS! And don't forget to come back here to Inspiration Ave, for more inspirational makes from the rest of our talented and helpful Funkie Junkie Boutique Design Team! Until next time...
