Recycling has made me realize how much material I was wasting, it`s amazing! Wonderful opportunities are now being discovered and I hope you are inspired with all this too! Now I turned to cardboard packages, it`s becoming an obsession to identify this reusable stuff and I keep pushing my creativity out of my comfort zone and it`s challenging to change the mind about trash becoming art! This will take time to become part of our lives but I assure you , this feels good! I am certain that you will have plenty of material to collect at home and create many, many different cute embellishments for cards, invitations, gifts, tags, and also art to be hanged, given and for your art journals, altered books and even scrapbook pages! This will make exercise your creativity! I used my collection of punches and die cuts to cut the packages, probably you want to sand them first on the paint side, you can also paint the whole cardboard first to save time or paint them later like I did so I can go as I feel! Punches are a lot of fun and they can be easily found! I can`t believe how many of them I made! Soon I will have to give them away to friends! What I like is that what was left of the boxes was reduced to very, very little waste! You will have the shapes and also some stencils to use in your mixed media projects! Here you can see I saved the sides of the boxes to make my beautiful book marks which I really wanted one to use in a new book I `m reading now! Beautiful flowers, I love how they look without paint, just like that is a beautiful color! I had to find how to store them... The best of this... it feels like I didn`t have to spend any money! I am saving lots of money doing this! Lol! They actually look great just with the sand step but of course I love painting so I added guesso to prepare them for it! Here are the book marks on their make over! Care free painting, playing and with nothing in mind but to enjoy the process of this! I love my cropadile! After using a transparent laminated sheet to protect them after finished and dried, I made the hole to attach the ribbons... Aren`t they lovely? Who would say this came from a box that was meant to be thrown away? They all have a special quote on the back to get inspired! This can be beautiful gifts! Remember the toilet rolls? Lately I`ve been covering them with vintage music sheets, my favorite! This is an example of using the die cuts to make mixed media paintings, grown ups and children will love this! Some tags for my future presents, having them ready can be handy! This is a lot of fun! Ready to give with some cookies! :D To end, I am leaving you with the cutest flower on the block! All this was made with the card boards shown at the beginning, I find it awesome! I will be adding more creative projects with the idea of recycling so stay tuned for more! How many times have a used a torn scrap of used envelope to mark a page in my book? Well, I've been thinking - my books deserve better! So I set to work on a bookmark... ... and got a bit carried away! These are made by sponging a strip of Whisper White card stock with ink using sponge daubers. I used Bashful Blue for the sky and Old Olive and Soft Suede for the ground. The foliage images are from various sets and are stamped in Old Olive and Always Artichoke over the top of the sponged background. The flowers are punched from bright card stock with the Boho Blossoms punch and attached to the stamped strip with coordinating brads. The corners at the top of the strip were rounded and then it was matted onto coloured card stock. I stuck a matching 1/2" circle to the top, punched a hole through all the layers and threaded it with 1/4" grosgrain ribbon. And there we have it - really quick and such fun to make! Supplies Stamps: Touch of Nature, Autumn Days, Pocket Silhouettes Ink: Bashful Blue, Old Olive, Soft Suede, Always Artichoke Card stock: assorted colours Other: Boho Blossom, 1/2" and 1/4" circle punches, 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, brads Of course, I didn't stop there... Here are a couple using the wider grosgrain ribbon attached with staples. Doesn't that All a Flutter butterfly look gorgeous in blue? It's so easy to add soft colour with your ink pads and a blender pen. It seemed a waste not to use up these scraps of the beautiful Cottage Wall designer paper! I stamped the paper with leaves from the Pocket Silhouettes stamp set, matted it onto Rich Razzleberry card stock and attached flowers punched with the Boho Blossoms and 5 petal punches using silver brads. So now reading, which is already a real luxury for me, will become an even greater pleasure! And why not make some more to add a personal touch to a gift of a book or a book token? Believe me, it's quite hard to stop once you get going! With the holidays fast approaching is easy to lose yourself in the busy end-of-term rush. 2020 Topic 5: Mark Making Intro Autumn is having a blast of late with the PaperArtsy Infusions. If you have not tried these, they are water activated pigment powders, but they have 2 unusual features: 1. they are permanent once dry and 2. they contain walnut crystals which activate more slowly than the colour powder (because a crystal is larger, and takes longer to dissolve in water). Result is that you get a colour pop with a vintage brown effect. Learning how to control the balance of colour to walnut makes for a lot of fun! That is why with just 2 infusions, Autumn still gets a range of colour and some super-interesting effects, and she makes plenty of marks with the fabulous stamps from Seth Apter's line. Take a look! ~ Leandra Hi everyone, it's Autumn Clark from SewPaperPaint with you today, and I'd like to share with you a fun little tag book I made by marking up a sheet of Infusions dyed paper with loads of Seth Apter patterns. I truly love playing with Infusions pigment powders and thought it would be fun to mix the two "blacks" in the collection together. I was instantly amused by the combo of Black Knight and Blackcurrant. One thing led to another and I ended up creating a little scrappy tag book with black and white photos of my darling girls... More than anything I enjoyed I enjoyed the spontaneity of creating this project. I let one color indicate the next and then the ink colors and even the shapes I used. And there's nothing like a pop of black and white photos against pink! My girls are mad about star motifs these days so I loved adding such elements to my design. I usually choose to apply my Infusions over very wet paper. I love watch the magic as the colors bleed. I dyed a full sheet of 12x12. I wasn't sure what I was going to do once I started, but this year I am adapting the principle of "striving for my flow state," where I take more time for creative abandon and pure play. I cut the paper with a tag die and got eight pieces from the sheet. I mounted them onto black cardstock one on the front, one on the back of four finished tags. Since my water flowed to the center of my paper as the colors ran, it left me with sort of a striped effect, which I kept on the horizontal when I cut my tags. It would be interesting to see how they would look with a more vertical swaying... Now it was time to make some marks! I pulled out some Distress Oxide colors that would coordinate with the magenta, grey/blue and blacks from my backgrounds and set to stamping my tags at random. I used PaperArtsy Eclectica³ {Seth Apter} Collection (EM35), (EM41), (EM45), (EM48) and (ESA09). For the largest pattern from ESA09 I used Cloud 9 Fresco Chalk Acrylic Paint to bring in some contrast. The concept of making one's mark made me think of my sweet girls and my hopes and dreams for their future, so I pulled out PaperArtsy Eclectica³ {Alison Bomber} Collection (EAB07), the "Dreams" stamp collection. I fussy cut portions of each quote to pair with my photos. To create some dimension, I added some die cut elements with Seth Apter dies. I embossed those in Ranger's "Punch" Mixed Media Powder. Then the joy of building my layouts with my photos, pops of pink embellishments and these delightful sayings was found, all from the simple start of making a few marks... I can't encourage you enough to have a play with Infusions. There is something truly magical about the randomness of the colors. I saw this adorable idea for a card with attached bookmark on Julie Davison's blog. I used her layout, switched up the image and colors, and included this card as one of our "All Occasion" cards from last weekend's stamp-a-stack. I love how Julie used the Two Tags die to create the bookmark. How clever! Here's a closer look at the inside of the bookmark. I trimmed some of SU!'s Magnet Sheets into small pieces to place inside the bookmark. Here's a little tip for perfect magnet placement. Place both of your magnets together and remove the paper backing from one magnet. Attach the magnet to one side of your bookmark. Next, peel off the remaining paper backing (with the magnets still attached) and then fold over the other side of the bookmark, pressing the magnet into place. A bevy of beautiful houses.... Hello, something different to show you today. I'm covering in my lovely shop Indigo Moon for this week whilst Gav completes his DVD. There isn't much room to work but i found these pretty papers i've had hanging around and decided to have a play! I made over a hundred of these over the last two days whilst sat in the shop (i was supposed to be stock taking!!! ...this was more fun though), they're all different, different sizes, colours and shapes and as always when i'm creating in the shop people want to buy - I sold eight and quickly replaced them by making another eight.
