I put students in groups of 4 or 8 and each group has a pack of speaking cards. They pull a card out of the bag and they have to speak for a predetermined amount of time about the topic on the card. Pictures are there for better presentation, otherwise they use their imagination and they don't describe the picture, but speak freely.
