When I make cards, I frequently use foam dots to pop up an element on the card. Here's one of many sheets of dots that live in my adhesives basket. Years ago, I used to throw out the sheet when I used up all the dots. Then I realized I should save the unused parts to cut apart to make pop-up strips for larger items. Now I've discovered another purpose for used-up sheets of foam dots. They make a perfect template for cute little rows of Stickles! Here's a card I made using that technique. Check out the perfectly even dots of Stickles on the background cardstock. I hope some of you try this out. I'd love to see what you make!

This lovely card was made with stamps from our Flowers and Foliage collection, stamped with bold contrasting Reds and Greens. The background came courtesy of Elements inks brayered directly onto watercolour card and spattered with water. And for the glittery finishing touches, Tracey used a combination of Stickles Glitter Glue and foiling techniques. Shopping List […]

Distressed Stickles Technique by Roni Johnson Ink Stains with Roni Today I wanted to share a technique I started playing with way back in April 2010. Originally I had used Aleene's Thick Tacky Glue combined with Distress Ink to come up with Distress Glue Technique. I thought it might also work by substituting Stickles Glitter Glue in place of the glue and give it a bit of sparkle at the same time. As luck would have it, it worked perfectly. Supplies: Stickles Glitter Glue Cardstock Distress Ink Ink Blending Tool Instructions: 1. Begin by squeezing a dab of the Stickles onto your finger tip. 2. Lightly spread the Stickles over the cardstock. You don't want solid coverage, just steaks of the Stickles here and there. 3. Continue spreading the Stickle over cardstock until the entire piece has been covered. For this example I used Lime along the bottom 1/3rd, Waterfall in the top 2/3's with a few dots of Frosted Lace dotted here and there. 4. Now comes the hard part.... You have to let the Stickles dry completely. I don't it doesn't sound like much but I'm always excited to get to the next step to see what's hidden on the paper. If you're like me you may need to pull out your heat tool to speed the drying process. 5. After the Stickles have finally dried it's time to see what you've got. Use the Ink Blending Tool to apply desired color of Distress Ink over the cardstock. I started off by using Peeled Paint along the bottom. I used Stormy Sky for the upper 2/3rd's of this example. You can see how the Distress Inks have brought out the Stickles Glitter & Glue. It's really very pretty up close. Since the colors of ink I have used were lighter you can use the panel as is. If I would have used a darker ink such as Chipped Sapphire, Gathered Twigs, Aged Mahogany, etc. it might have made it harder to see the Stickled areas. In that case all you would do is to take a damp cloth and wipe away the excess ink from the Stickled areas. And here is what my finished card looks like.... (All Stamps: Just For Fun Rubber Stamps) Distress Stickles Variation I 1. For a variation on the original technique you can apply one or more lighter colored inks to the cardstock prior to adding the Stickles. Once the Stickles have been applied over these foundation inks they will show through the Stickles after the final step. In this example I used Chipped Sapphire for the final layer of ink. You can see how the Stickles are harder to see at the top of the tag and after cleaning how well they show up (along the bottom). The cleaned up tag.... And my finished tag.... Distressed Stickles Variation II For this example I initially applied Old Paper Distress Ink to the cardstock. I then applied Cinnamon Stickles over the entire panel. For the cover-up - reveal layer of ink I applied several colors of Distress Ink - Rusty Hinge, Spiced Marmalade, Gathered Twigs, and Tea Dye. You can see how some of the inks highlight the Stickles more than others. And my finished card... I hope you have enjoyed this unique way to incorporate Stickles into your art!

Now I have grown tired of my Stickles glitter and bottles flowing down soooo slowly and clog them. So I googled on Stickles storage and found a fun solution that suited me perfectly. And that´s what I want to show you today! I've made a glitter painting. While I realize that I probably need to make a larger picture or more when my glitter family grows, but it may be a recent solution to this. I love my new painting, it is both practical and nice to look at what are my watchwords of good storage solutions. I took a picture frame with glass, put in a fine, light paper on the inside (K-Design of course) and closed it. Then I cut into small pieces of Velcro (bought at Biltema store) that I drew the softer part of the bottle and then I put them on the glass on the board. Simpley and take very little time to fix. Limmade fast thickers med superlim på ramen och glittrade dem med de ljusare sticklers för att enkelt kunna se vilka nyanser de glittrar i. ( Den nedre raden av stickles) Thickers glued with superglue to the frame and sparkled them with the lighter sticklers to easily see which shades the glittering in. (The lower line of Stickles) Och sedan valde jag lite dekorationer, glittrande sånna förståss ;) And then I chose some decorations, glittering like that of course ;) Kanske någon av er också fastnar för den här idén eller har ni någon annan rolig förvaring av dem så skriv gärna en kommentar. Maybe some of you are also stuck on this idea or do you have any other storage fun of them so please write a comment. Kram / Hugs
Here's my entry for this week's Simon Says Stamp challenge which is "Merry Christmas!" I used the SU! sets Winter Watercolors and More Merry Messages for this card, embossing the sentiment with gold ep. I just love the fancy decorative fonts on the word Christmas. The pines were done with old olive ink stamped off once, and I added liquid applique to look like snow. The pine cones were done with soft suede ink, and dotted with gold stickles for a little sparkle. Yesterday I decided to give my craft room a thorough cleaning, and while doing that, I thought it would be a great time to re-ink my inkpads, and re-fill my Copics. Would you believe I re-filled my Wasabi (my favorite green inkpad) with Celery reinker?! OY!! Here's some good hind-sight advice......don't ever re-ink 2 different shades of the same color at the same time! I almost did it again later with chocolate chip and soft suede inks too! Can you say S.C.A.T.T.E.R.B.R.A.I.N.?! LOL Thanks so much for stopping by and make it a great Friday! Carol
