Hello and welcome to my blog. Today I'm introducing the cards we'll be making at my in-person card classes coming up next week. You'll make 3 beautiful cards and the cost is $20, which includes envelopes and printed instructions. All you need to bring are your scissors and favorite adhesives. The schedule is as follows: Thursday, June 23rd 12:00 Thursday, June 23rd 5:00 Sunday, June 26th 2:00 Now let's take a look at the cards you'll make. This first card is made with the Texture Chic Suite and Delicate Edges dies. The Suite includes the beautiful Texture Chic Designer Series Paper, Season of Chic Bundle, and the beautiful Distressed Gold Specialty paper. The price of the whole Suite is just $77.50 plus shipping and taxes. I will post a card I made using the Distressed Gold paper at the bottom of the post. Next is the cute Wild and Sweet card with the panda. He looks so peaceful. The third card introduces the beautiful Willow Tree bundle and I used the Texture Chic Designer Series Paper, again, for the background and the Fabulous Frames dies for the frame. I hope you like these cards and live in the Tallahassee, Florida area. I would love to have you attend my classes. Below is the card made with the Distressed Gold paper and also the Willow Dies. Also, I have entered the card below in a card competition sponsored by Kylie Bertucci, and I would appreciate it if you would take a minute to go over to my blog and vote for it. There's only a few more hours left to vote. Just click on the picture of the card below. Details for making this card are also on my blog. Thanks so much. Contact Me! Shop Here! Welcome to a new challenge at Colour INKspiration! This striking colour palette was chosen for us by Crew Member Lou Kitzelman. If you haven't played with us before, we are a group of Stampin' Up Demonstrators from the South Pacific. Challenges are shown and entered via our Facebook Group page. If you don't belong, and would like to, click here. Don't forget to answer the three easy questions you'll be asked when you ask to join the group. Each challenge, Top Picks and a winner are chosen by the crew and the winner offered a chance to Guest Design with us for a future challenge, although there is no Guest Designer for this challenge as we unusually had less than ten entries. If you don't have an exact challenge colour, feel free to replace it with whatever you have that's closest. - for example Garden Green for Shaded Spruce. Black, White, Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and metallics are free colours, as are flesh toned Stampin' Blends. The colours whispered that they were florals but I wanted something a little more than a floral spray, so I turned to what is fast becoming my favourite suite from the new catalogue, Texture Chic. This suite offers a stamp/die bundle (and oh, what a bundle!) plus gorgeous Distressed Gold Specialty paper and stunning Texture Chic Specialty DSP with its opulent touches of gold. There are images for every season: seashells, flowers, leaves and snowflakes along other grungy elements and a heap of fabulous sentiments. Although the seashells are my favourite, I went for the flowers and leaves on this one. I stamped two flowers in Blushing Bride on Whisper White. I die cut them plus an outline in Blushing Bride. I die cut the outline overlay from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper and some stamens in the same paper and Blushing Bride, then assembled the three central flowers. I cut various leaves from Shaded Spruce and Soft Succulent and some smaller die cut flowers from the Distressed Gold Specialty paper so I had plenty to play with when making up the cluster. The netting grid in behind is die cut from Shaded Spuce. I used the grunge splatter stamps to build a stamped background on the card front before adding the strips of DSP from the Texture Chic Specialty DSP pack then layering up the cluster. The embellishments are from the 2021-2023 In Colour Opal Rounds. Aren't they a fabulous addition to the bling stable? I'm very interested to see what everyone does with these interesting colours. Visit the Colour INKspiration site to check out the album of Crew Cards for inspiration. You can also add your entry there. We all enjoy seeing what you do with our colour palettes, so join in! Hi there! It's Marsha here, and today, I'll share how I created more cards with the new Gelli Arts® holiday stencils. This time, I focused on using alcohol and solvent-based inks on the Gelli® plate. Have you ever tried using alcohol inks on the gel plate? Here's what you need to know before you start:
The Christmas Pack includes an enormous set of classroom activities and teaching resources to use throughout the festive season. These include writing prompts, early morning activities, craft instructions, puzzles, games and more!
Dear Blogger Friends, Hope you are all doing well and are starting to enjoy the festivities of this holiday season! I absolutely looooooove this time of year! I am slowly wrapping up my circus unit (one more cute idea/freebie to come!) and have begun looking into my holiday activities (great ideas/freebies to come!). Seeing as though I am slightly in between units at the moment, I thought it would be nice to share something I do each day during my morning routine! As a cycle one teacher, my main focus is to help my students learn and improve upon reading and writing skills. I do so by having my students take part in many daily 5 and balanced literacy activities. Furthermore, I have a phonics routine! This can be done at the beginning of each day, during calendar time. Everyday, my students review the jolly phonics (b, s, t, etc...) sounds as well as other more difficult sounds (ee, ea, ough, ow, etc...). My bestie, Mrs. Leslie (I think I've mentioned her before, hehe), has so graciously shared some wonderful sound posters (free of course). These are displayed on the wall and a designated student (usually the V.I.P for the day, also courtesy of Mrs. Leslie!) points to the sounds and the students say each sound. We say "oo" as in "tooth," thus helping students remember the letters and sounds. More specifically, when they are reading or writing, we can refer back to the sounds cards. For instance, if a student wants to write the word "booth" and is stuck on the "oo" sound, I say: "oo, like in tooth!" The students usually refer to the sound posters and are then able to write the sound correctly. Click here to download Mrs. Leslie's Sound Posters Click here to download Mrs. Leslie's V.I.P. Student Another great freebie by Mrs. Leslie, is the mini sound chart. It is a great resource to have in writing folders and around the classroom for reference. It includes all the same sounds as the posters with the added bonus of fitting all on the same page! Click here to download Mrs. Leslie's Sound Chart I have also made small sound cards that can be cut and used as flash cards. Once again, they include all the above sounds (bottom portion of the poster) and are without pictures. These are used after a certain knowledge of the sounds has been attained. It is a good daily practice for the sounds and can be sent home. I use these with my students who are having a little more difficulty remembering the sounds. A great tool to use when the resource teacher is in your classroom. Also fun to use when the students are in centers and you want to work one-on-one with a struggling student. Click here to download FREE Sound Cards Hope these prove to be helpful for some of you out there! Be sure to continue to check out my blog and Mrs. Leslie's for more great ideas!
This style of fancy fold card has been "popping up" lately on Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube. I've enjoyed the many variations I've seen, but I was looking for directions to make a standard size card (4.25" x 5.50") with the simplest steps and technique to use. I liked Joy Tracey's YouTube video the best (thanks Joy!) I changed the sizing a bit to create mine as the standard size I was looking for. See instruction photos at the end of this post. I used the bright and cheerful colored papers from Little Dreamer, plus a sheet of Thistle and Lagoon cardstock. The "HUG" letters are from the word Laugh in the May Stamp of the Month Set ~ Live, Laugh, Love. I just used the last three letters and spelled HUG. "HUG" Flowers colored with Peony Purple, Pastel Green, Turquoise, Light Orange ShinHan Touch Twin markers. Leaves stamped on Lagoon cardstock, shade with Turquoise Blue marker. For a touch of sparkle, add some Clear Shimmer Brush and a Little Dreamer Glitter Gem or two! Isn't she the cutest? I colored her hair with the Clay marker and heart with Peony Purple marker. Skin is with a flesh colored pencil. Dress and cheeks are with a Bubble Gum CTMH Watercolor pencil. I added touches of shimmer to everything on the card with the Clear Shimmer Brush. LOVE it! D1711 True Love - Operation Smile Stamp Set $7 of every purchased stamp goes to Operation Smile! This set retires July 31, 2017. S1705 Live, Laugh, Love ~ May 2017 Stamp of the Month set Cut and score the pieces as shown. You can skip the scoring on the 2nd piece by folding it in half, then opening it and folding each end in to meet the your first fold in the center. Does the trick without the scoring time! Use a bone folder to get good crisp folds. This will help the Twist and Pop mechanism to work smoothly. NOTE: Adhere two patterned pieces 4" x 5 1/4" to the inside of your card base before attaching the pop out mechanism (house). See my card opened up at the top of page. Lay the 3" x 10" piece flat on top of the attached mechanism, lining up the center fold with the 2 1/8" markings. Fold back the two ends and add adhesive as shown. Carefully close the card and rub over the top to reinforce the folds. Open and close it a few times to ensure it works properly. Add 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" pieces of patterned paper to the 3" x 10" pop out piece. Decorate as desired. Other CTMH supplies used: Oval Thin Cuts Hearts Thin Cuts Bone Folder

After seeing how much the girls enjoy playing with the scented playdough we made recently (and how often) I decided to create a game including some other 'scents of Christmas'. At first Bubble was reluctant to smell any of the satchets, but once she got a sniff of the cinnamon (really, who doesn't like cinnamon?!) she was right into it, sorting the cards into two piles - the ones she liked and the ones that were "too yucky". I'll be elaborating on this activity tomorrow using photo cards since most of the scents are of things that Bubble has never seen before in their natural form. Our ten scents of Christmas: Cinnamon - ground spice Pine Tree - cut needles from a pine tree in our park Cranberry - crushed dried cranberries Clove - whole dried cloves Peppermint - essence on cotton pad Almond - essence on cotton pad Vanilla - essence on cotton pad Spice - ground allspice Chocolate - sweetened cocoa powder Ginger - ground I really wanted to add Nutmeg and Cherry to this list, but was all out of both nutmeg spice and cherry extract. I think they'd be a great addition though! WE USED: * cardboard strips (cut from a cardboard box) * small plastic snap lock bags (available at craft and dollar stores) * marker/texta * sticky tape * items to fill the bags (see list above of what we used) * needle These sensory cards were really simple to make - I cut strips from a box we had and used a marker to write the names of our 'scents' on each one. Each scented item was added to a bag and then taped to it's corrosponding card. The essences were added to a cotton pad cut to fit inside the bags. I used a needle to create tiny holes in the pine needle and cloves bags, but all of the other scents easily permeated their bags and needed no piercing. I loved this game as much as Bubble did, the room smelt so warm and festive with all of these scents in the air.
