Hi all! When I posted my last card in the Graphic 45 Facebook group, one of the members commented that it was a bit too complicated for them. I agree that it can be overwhelming when you first start making any type of pop-up or folded card, so I thought it would be fun to show a card that has a similar feel to it, but is much more simple to construct. What takes this one from simple to fabulous is all the amazing Graphic 45 papers! I am on a mission to stop hoarding all of my favorite papers and release them into the wild. Rare Oddities was one of my favorite papers from a year (two?) ago and I thought it would be perfect for this card. I used some of my favorite new dies from Karen Burniston - like this cool Halloween sentiment - and lots of fussy cut elements. Follow along below to see how I made it. Begin by cutting two pieces of black cardstock measuring 8 1/2" x 5 1/2" (an 8.5" x 11" piece of cardstock cut in half). Score one piece in the center at 4 1/4". Score the other in the center, and then halfway between the center and each outer edge - from the left side your scores should be at 2 1/8", 4 1/4", and 6 3/8". Fold on all score lines as shown and burnish with a bone folder. Adhere a 4 1/8" x 5 3/8" panel in the center of the mountain-folded card. Align the 4 3/8" oval die from Karen Burniston's Ovals - Crosshatch die set in the center and use your die cutting machine to cut through both layers of paper. If you don't have a die, you could hand-cut this section. Refold the card and ink the inside of the cutout with black ink. Cut decorative elements from paper. Here I'm using Graphic 45's Rare Oddities paper (retired). Adhere a 4 1/8"x 5 3/8" panel to the center of the single-folded card. To create the pop-out element for the backing card, score a panel in the center, and 1/4" from each side. (My panel was a bit small, so I added strips to widen it.) Fold as shown and apply adhesive to outer tabs. With both pieces lying flat, align the center fold of the small panel with the center of the card and adhere. Pop center panel out as shown and retrain the folds. To create a frame for the opening, nest two oval dies from Karen Burniston's Ovals - Crosshatch die set as shown and die cut. Adhere frame and other elements to card as shown. Fussy cut flowers or other elements to add to card. Die cut spider web and spider, both from Karen Burniston's Halloween Scene collection. Adhere die cut and fussy cut elements to the card as shown. Apply adhesive to the outer edges of the frame panel. Adhere frame panel to backing card, aligning edges carefully. Retrain all folds. Decorate front of card as desired. I just adore tunnel cards. It's so much fun adding little elements here and there and building a scene. Here you can see how it folds up when closed. So cool!! It is a bit bulky because of the paper I used and how many layers there are - it will most likely need extra postage. If you've never made a tunnel card before, I suggest using plain cardstock and making a sample card before you start cutting into your fancy papers. I do this with almost any new pop-up die or card fold and it makes it much less stressful when you don't have to worry about messing up! You can also play with where you'd like to place your elements, etc. My biggest problem with cards like this is knowing when to stop! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. It's been ages since I've done one and it was a lot of fun - I might have to do this more often. :-) You can find the supplies I used via the links below. Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Hello ! Céline here with Tutorial Thursday. For the Christmas new release I made a pop up panel card and many of you asked me how to do it. Each measurement is in cm For the pop up system you need a cardstock cut at 29.8 x 22.5 2 pieces of patterned papers at 14.5 x 10.2 for the panel you need cardstock cut at 30 x 8.2 and 4 pieces of paterned papers cut at 7.1 x 7.8 and for the card base you need cardstock cut at 30 x 10.5 and score in half To start, here are the measures for the pop up system (29.8 x 22.5 cardstock) Here is the result Take the 2 pieces of paterned papers 14.5 x 10.2 and cut the corners like shown in the picture below and adhere them to the pop up system Take the 30 x 8.2 cardstock and score at 7.5, 15 and 22.5 and adhere the 4 pieces of patterned papers cut at 7.1 x 7.8 to the panel. Adhere letters you want to have as message Decorate as you want Now it's time to adhere the panel on the pop up system Place the panel at the bottom of the pop up system (panels are centered) you have to see "2" "u" at the top and made a mark on the cardstock repeat by placing the panel at the top of the pop up system you have now marks to see how/where to add glue Adhere the inside card to the base card And to finish, decorate the front of the card I've used : stamp : Celebrate you Marci dies : Celebrate you, balloons, filigree flowers, loopy corner, pierced scalloped circles, double stitched circles, fancy doily Here is a little video I've made to show the opening of the card, sorry for the quality, it's made with my phone. That's all for me today, hope you like my tutorial. If you have any question i would be happy to help. Hugs Céline

This style of fancy fold card has been "popping up" lately on Facebook, Pinterest and YouTube. I've enjoyed the many variations I've seen, but I was looking for directions to make a standard size card (4.25" x 5.50") with the simplest steps and technique to use. I liked Joy Tracey's YouTube video the best (thanks Joy!) I changed the sizing a bit to create mine as the standard size I was looking for. See instruction photos at the end of this post. I used the bright and cheerful colored papers from Little Dreamer, plus a sheet of Thistle and Lagoon cardstock. The "HUG" letters are from the word Laugh in the May Stamp of the Month Set ~ Live, Laugh, Love. I just used the last three letters and spelled HUG. "HUG" Flowers colored with Peony Purple, Pastel Green, Turquoise, Light Orange ShinHan Touch Twin markers. Leaves stamped on Lagoon cardstock, shade with Turquoise Blue marker. For a touch of sparkle, add some Clear Shimmer Brush and a Little Dreamer Glitter Gem or two! Isn't she the cutest? I colored her hair with the Clay marker and heart with Peony Purple marker. Skin is with a flesh colored pencil. Dress and cheeks are with a Bubble Gum CTMH Watercolor pencil. I added touches of shimmer to everything on the card with the Clear Shimmer Brush. LOVE it! D1711 True Love - Operation Smile Stamp Set $7 of every purchased stamp goes to Operation Smile! This set retires July 31, 2017. S1705 Live, Laugh, Love ~ May 2017 Stamp of the Month set Cut and score the pieces as shown. You can skip the scoring on the 2nd piece by folding it in half, then opening it and folding each end in to meet the your first fold in the center. Does the trick without the scoring time! Use a bone folder to get good crisp folds. This will help the Twist and Pop mechanism to work smoothly. NOTE: Adhere two patterned pieces 4" x 5 1/4" to the inside of your card base before attaching the pop out mechanism (house). See my card opened up at the top of page. Lay the 3" x 10" piece flat on top of the attached mechanism, lining up the center fold with the 2 1/8" markings. Fold back the two ends and add adhesive as shown. Carefully close the card and rub over the top to reinforce the folds. Open and close it a few times to ensure it works properly. Add 2 1/4" x 2 3/4" pieces of patterned paper to the 3" x 10" pop out piece. Decorate as desired. Other CTMH supplies used: Oval Thin Cuts Hearts Thin Cuts Bone Folder

Last week I showed you an awesome gift card holder, the Pop-Up Gift Bag card. I promised a video, so I made another sample to show you how it's made. Take a look: Beautiful in Pale Papaya and Granny Apple Green with the Expressions in Ink patterned paper and lots of gold! And opened: surprise! A cute mini gift bag that pops up! Just perfect for presenting a gift card. I first saw this card idea on the Demonstrator Facebook page. The demo is Jen Morgano, and she has a blog called CardNMum. I re-sized the card slightly so it will fit in a regular card-sized envelope. One note: in my video I say that the gift bag uses a 4" x 9" piece of DSP, but it's actually 4" x 9-1/2"; my apologies! Take a look and see how it's made: If you need a special gift card holder, give this one a try. I know the recipient will absolutely love it! I love to find a card pattern that has minimal stamping, features DSP, and can be used over and over with a variety of different papers. This kind of card pattern is perfect for those who get Paper Shares where you get a sample of all the papers in a catalog and need ideas of what to do with it. I think you will definitely want to give this one a try! To make the front of this card, you only need a 3"x 3" piece of DSP, which means you can get 4 cards out of one 6x6 sheet. You can stop there and keep it simple, or you can give the inside pop-up surprise a try. Flight & Airy DSP, greeting from Softly Sophisticated Stamp Set Birds are fussy-cut from Flight & Airy DSP Bee Mine DSP, greeting from Sentimental Park stamp set Bees are fussy cut from Bee Mine DSP Hearts were punched with the Bee Builder punch You can watch how I made these projects in the following video. The measurements are posted below. 3x3 DSP Card Measurements in inches: DSP: 3 x 3 Mat behind DSP: 3-1/8 x 3-1/8 White layer: 3-1/4 x 4-1/2 Mat behind white layer: 3-7/16 x 4-11/16 (or 3-3/8 plus a 16th x 4-5/8 plus a 16th) Card base: 5-1/2 x 8-1/2, score at 4-1/4 Insert card for the inside to have a pop-up: Base: 8 x 5, score at 4 On the back side of the card, go from the middle score line 1" to the right and 1" to the left and put a small pencil mark. Then go down the center of the line 2" and put a mark. To make it easy to see in your paper trimmer, I recommend marking on the side that will be attached to the card and drawing a pencil line where you are going to score. Then put it in your trimmer and score over the lines you drew. Fold as shown and add little cut out images to the part that is folded in so they pop up when the card is opened (easiest to understand on the video). As I mentioned before, you can keep it simple and skip the pop-up inside piece. I went to town making a bunch of cards using this design with different papers. These are the papers I've tried so far: Trusty Toolbox DSP, greeting from Throughout the Year stamp set Rock & Roll DSP, greeting from Throughout the Year stamp set Lighter than Air DSP, greeting from Hot Air Balloon stamp set Softly Stippled DSP, greeting from Go to Greetings stamp set You can find a picture list of the supplies I used for the first two cards at the end of this post.
