If you've been following my blog this month, you are probably aware that I am the guest designer over at Cheery Lynn Designs (die cuts) this month and am on my 3rd week to share projects made with their gorgeous dies. I don't know about you but I find I am always in need of thank-you cards, I like to take the time to send a card to show my appreciation to someone. I was in a whimsical mood this week and wanted to get some extra use out of that cute lattice piece I got in my last CL order so I thought I'd use it like a window design on a fantasy style card featuring fairies and flowers. For my flowers I just layered a couple of the Sweet Williams floral dies, inked the edges with a little chalk ink and glued some flower stamens to the centers. I wanted to continue the light filligree look so I used the leaves from the Flourish Leaf strip in white and the Lace Corner Deco in white. I used papers from Graphic 45 (The papers are some left-overs that I still had in my stash from one of my favorite local scrapstores 'Forever Scrapbooking' in Burlington Ontario....the store is no longer there but the beautiful and sweet ladies that ran the store have a new venture called 'A Scrapbook Story', where they share their ideas through themed kits, you can find them HERE), Prima and Bo Bunny. I gave the whole thing a more tattered look by tucking in bits of muslin (cheese-cloth) here and there. Cheery Lynn Products used for this project: ~ Lattice 2 FRM115 ~ Lace Corner Deco B - B162 ~ Flourish Leaf Strip B178 ~ Sweet Williams Strip B307 The funny thing is, once I get started playing with my pretty Cheery Lynn dies, I more often than not find that I can't just stop at one card! I get a few ideas going at once and therefore ended up with an extra card this week! :) For this card I wanted to play up the delicate gate die! I just love the super fine design on the Ornamental gate and I thought it again played well with the Graphic 45 window design in their patterned paper. I used adhesive foam dots to create pocket design behing the gate, I find the shadow this creates gives a nice 3D look to the card. I also used another one of the Lace Corner designs I used in the top card for this one. I used one of my all time favorite CL dies, the Fanciful Flourish as a 'stem' for my floral arrangement and again used the Sweet Williams Strip for my handmade flowers but in this case I curled the petals to create more of a rose look tothe blooms. Cheery Lynn products used for this project: ~ Ornamental Gate - B196 ~ Fanciful Flourish - B117 ~ Sweet Williams Strip -B307 ~ Lace Corner Deco - B162 I hope you enjoyed my projects today and hope that I've inspired you to get out your Cheery Lynn dies to play today! I look forward to sharing another project with you all next week! P.S.....I was asked by a number of you where to find Cheery Lynn dies in my last couple of posts....You can order them directly from Cheery Lynn Designs, I've linked the dies I used to their shop (above) for your convenience. xo

My daughter and son in law celebrated their third anniversary last month...and yup, I made another sliding box card. I was already embarrassingly late with my card before I even started, and this was the quickest "nice" card I could come up with at the time so I just went with it, this time changing the window to a heart shaped one. On the inside, I used a cute boy and girl paper piecing file called "Kissing Booth" from SVG Cutting Files. Since the original cutting file on this only included the top half of their bodies, I used one of the Paper Dolls Add-Ons (also from SVG Cutting Files) to weld on the bottom half of their bodies and their legs in MTC (Make the Cut). I always find it fun to add a few little subtle details to bring back memories of their wedding whenever I make my daughter and son in law's anniversary card. Though they probably didn't recognize it, the pretty patterned paper (retired, from Basic Grey) I used on the outside is one of the papers I had originally used to create one of their wedding invitation samples three years ago. And in keeping with the lovebirds theme they had for their wedding, I added a bird held banner for the Happy Anniversary sentiment. Birds are from the Cricut 3 Birds On Parade cartridge, and banner is a from a internet image search rendered into a cut file with MTC. I used paper blossoms from All Natural Accents glittered with Stickles together with foliage from a Nellie Snellen punch on the bottom corners of the box, and a corner flourish die from LaLa Land embellished with flatback pearls and jewels on the remaining corners. And finally I added a scalloped heart frame embellished with more pearls for the window. Views from the top of the box show the glittery Best Creation Inc sakura paper from the Kimono line used on the inside of the box and where the couple is attached to the sliding mechanism. LOL, I think just about everyone on my cardmaking list has at least one (or maybe even two) of this sliding box style cards already. Guess it's about time to start looking for another style card to have fun with....
A little trick or treating...House Mouse style. I love the idea of the little mice (RATS as my dear friend Deborah calls them) carving Halloween apples. Colored with prismacolor pencils and a little Martha Stewart Halloween ribbon added for fun. Are you in costume yet? Since we saw the stage production of WICKED this summer I'm dressing as Elphaba, the "wicked" witch. Happy Haunting!

Good morning, everyone! Today's card for La-La Land Crafts is for this week's inspiration challenge, Halloween/Fall. I chose to make a fall all-occasion card with big, loopy raffia bows, and using Stitched Nested Circles Dies, the Berry Flourish Die... and a combination of the Pretty Poinsettia Die with the Cherry Blossom Flowers Die to form a pretty, layered flower made from gold suede paper... Autumn leaves show signs of slowly fading to brown before they fall, so I heavily distressed the leaves with crumpling, and accented the edges with brown and deep red inks. The little berries were accented with Copper Stickles... The stitched circle dies have the stitching marks cut, but I also accented them with black and white ink pens for even more detail... Supplies: LLLC Dies: Stitched Nested Circles, Berry Flourish, Pretty Poinsettia, Cherry Blossom Flowers Patterned paper: Prima Sunrise Sunset collection Black stamens: ChocolateLetters on Etsy Miscellaneous: Copper Stickles, white wire, wired burlap, cheesecloth, raffia I hope you'll pop over to the La-La Land Crafts blog and check out the other wonderful Halloween/Fall projects my design teammates have crafted up to share with you! Thanks so much for stopping by today...I hope you're having a wonderful autumn week so far!

Good Morning Everyone, Happy Monday, I hope you all had a great weekend. As it's a Monday - we have a brand new colour combo to play with over on Creative Colour Challenges so I thought I'd share with you what I have created. Now, I am not going to lie, I found this HARD - and yes, you may say 'well, you make the challenges' - Yes I do, but I do use a name wheel to pick the colours and I have stuck to the choices exactly - well it wouldn't be a challenge otherwise, right? I decided to do some paper piecing with the Batik dies, and I absolutely love how it turned out. Here's the colour selection that we have for this week - I think you will definietly need to be creative for this one!! haha Measurements Black Berry Bliss Card Stock 1pc - 5 7/8" x 8 1/4", scored at 4 1/8" scraps Flirty Flamingo Card Stock 1pc - 3 1/2" x 5 1/4" scraps Cherry Cobbler Card Stock scraps Basic White Card Stock 1pc - 5 5/8" x 3 7/8" 1pc - 3 3/8" x 5 1/8" ------------------------------ Take the plain solid flourish shape and cut out one in Blackberry Bliss, then cut out the detailed flourish shape in all the colours - Blackberry Bliss, Flirty Flamingo and Cherry Cobbler. Make sure you save ALL the bits that you cut. I found it easier if I sat them in little piles on my desk - and this is probably the only time you want all the bits to hold together - so if the do, leave then until you need that piece - you will see why later. Now, take the solid shape and add the Blakberry Bliss outline to the top of it. Now, just fill in the spaces with either Cherry Cobbler or Flirty Flamingo - depending on the deisgn you are after. I found that the Take Your Pick was useful here for the larger pieces but I also used some thin tweezers for the smaller bits. When you get to filling in the small dots and if they have stayed inside the outer shape - Carefully place this where it belongs exactly over the top of those holes, then gently push the shapes out and into the holes below. This really helped me speed up the process and get less glue on the front of my piece. Once it has all been filled in pop it to one side to dry. Fold the Blackberry Bliss card stcok along the score line to create your card base. Add the larger of the basic white pieces to the inside. On the remaining piece of Basic White, stamp the sentiments from Biggest Wish stamp set along the bottom. Laer this onto the Flirty Flamingo piece and add to the centre of the card front. Finally, add some dimensionals onto the back of your flourish and place onto the card front above the sentiment. It's a very simple card but that 3D paper pieced flourish really does make it special. And this would look awesome in sooooo many different colourways. Here's a list of the supplies I used in today's card. Click on the images to head over to my online store. Loving my new Spellbinders dies! Another one to showcase here, this time Tranquil Moments: love that filigree piece on the top layer - and plenty of space for a sentiment - this one is the retired Happy Birthday single stamp from Stampin' Up! I embossed the sentiment in gold, to tone in with the cardstock. The gold-toned pearlised cardstock is from the local discount store, cuts like a dream, and the flower is made using one of the matching envelopes which came with the ready-made card pack. The flower is made using Spellbinders Rose Creations die, and the gold bling was originally a bead from the local op shop. Card making need not be expensive!!!!
The Papertrey Ink Cornered Flourish Dies consist of 2 wired shapes: Corners: 2.75 inches x 1.5 inches These dies are designed to help you effortlessly create elegant corner details on your projects, adding a touch of sophistication to your crafting endeavors.
