Good morning! Jess here with a fun technique to create a clean and simple card! My card might be a bit more than a standard CAS card but you could easily replicate this design and keep it as intricate or simple as you'd like. I wanted to use the Bookcase Peek-A-Boo Parts stamp but I was in a bit of a rush and knew I didn't have time to color the full A2 sized stamp...so I decided to just stamp about a third of it onto a panel of Hero Hues Dove White cardstock with Intense-ified Black Ink. Then, just because, I stamped some of my favorite cat silhouettes from Luna the Halloween Cat with the same ink. I also stamped a sentiment from Hand-Drawn Everyday Messages and blasted it quickly with my heat gun to make sure all the ink was dry. Next I colored the bookshelf in rainbow order using Copic markers. I always admire those Pinterest-y photos where all the books are organized by color but I think it would drive me nuts in person to not be able to quickly find a book by the title or author! But on a card, anything goes! ;) I kept my shading simple and just used one or two markers for each book. And again you could make this REALLY clean and simple and leave off coloring the bookshelves or just selectively color a few books or the plant! And that's it! I love the full Bookcase Peek-A-Boo Parts stamp but it's also fun to use it in an unconventional way like this...almost makes it seem like you have two totally different sets! :) Thanks so much for stopping by today and have an amazing day! A sketch challenge tonight, courtesy of CAS Colours and Sketches – an interesting one as in addition to matching the sketch it must still be ‘CAS’ – Clean and Simple.
Good evening! I hope you're ready for a one layer clean and simple sketch! It's my first week back from holidays, so I was thinking ahead when I designed this sketch. I was thinking that I may find myself overwhelmed with playing "catch up" and how I may not have as much free time, and thus need a quick card to create. I was really happy with how this one layered creation turned out! Here's the sketch: Here's my card: Supplies: Stamps: Up, Up, and Away (and sentiments) Ink: Black, Pure Poppy Paper: White If you play along, please leave a link!

Hi all and welcome to another week of the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. This week the challenge theme is Clean and Simple! We are showcasing Hero Arts products this week. You don't have to use them to join in but if you have some we would love to see what you make! As always just for entering you will be eligible for the the drawing of a $25 voucher to the Simon store! I love a clean and simple card. Infact, it's my favorite kind of card. They can be so elegant. I thought this wonderful layering die set from Hero Arts would be perfect for a clean and simple card yet yield so much dimension! I made this card using a piece of smooth white card stock cut to be an A2 top folding sized card base. I then die cut the different layers of the windmill and tulips and trimmed them down to fit inside of the square frame die I chose for this card. I then used distress oxide ink to create the sky background. I also used Copic markers to color the windmill and tulips. I then stamped the sentiment in Pawsitively Saturated Peony ink. I die cut an extra square frame and adhered the layered dies with liquid and foam tape to help add lots of dimension. I hope you enjoyed the card I made today and if you are interested in any of the products I used, they are listed and linked below for your convenience. All supplies can be found at the Simon Says Stamp store. Hello there, CAS addicts! It's time for a new challenge! Carolyn is our Hostess, and she has chosen the code word 'White on White'. Please take a moment to review the rules of our challenge: Our Sponsor for this challenge is Happy Little Stampers and Kylie is awarding a generous $15.00 GC to her store for the winner! We also have a big treat...the incredibly talented Lynn Mangan, winner of challenge #112 is our Guest Designer, and we are thrilled to welcome her! My name is Lynn Mangan….and my blog is The Mango Boys and Me! I’m very blessed to be married to my high school sweetheart, Pat, and we’ll be married 25 years this summer. He’s a stay at home dad for our four amazing boys: Ryan, Jonathon, Collin and Marcel. The boys are ages 20 through 11 and keep us hopping. There is definitely always a funny story to be told about what is happening around our house. They keep us busy with musical events (plays, show choirs, etc), robotics competitions, baseball and cross country. I have been crafting for a long time…creating scrapbooks in high school and got my start stamping and making cards with Creative Memories and Stampin’ Up. Over time, I’ve switched to the Project Life app for scrapbooking but love nothing more than creating a card to give to someone. Card making relaxes me like nothing else and I love the fabulous community. Over the years, I’ve made so many fabulous friendships and am so grateful for them. Thanks so much to Barb and team for letting me guest design! Like I mentioned earlier my kid sis and I tried bokeh this past weekend. Cool. Way cool. This method of doing it is quite easy. You'll find instructions and the inspiration for these cards over at Splitcoaststampers. The only things I have to add more as reminders to myself for the future are: sponge lightly to avoid obvious sponge marks removable Scotch tape is easier than Post-Its for masking go light with the water; big drops warp the paper As far as these cards go, I think the first is my fav. There's something about that color and the wheat that really draws me in--reminds me of autumn trees reflected in a pond. I also think either card would be fitting for a sympathy, birthday or really just about anything, with the first card being particularly nice for gents. Card 1 (Wheat) Details: PTI white card stock, Inkadinkado Meadow stamp, Stampabilities Definitions stamp, Memento Desert Sand, Rhubarb Stalk, Potter's Clay, and Tuxedo Black, removable Scotch tape, water. On the inside it says "Count your blessings." Card 2 Details: PTI white card stock, Spectrum Noir black, Kaisercraft Thank You sentiment, Inkadinkado Meadow stamp, Brilliance Graphite Black, Memento Tuxedo Black, Dandelion, Bahama Blue and New Sprout I'm entering this in Jellypark Friends Happy Thanksgiving/Give Thanks, Little Tangles #25 Give Thanks, Crafty Cardmakers #105 CAS, Pink Elephant TPE227 Be Thankful, Loves Rubberstamps #80 Give Thanks, Card Makin' Mamas CMM76 Thankful Tidings, Inkspirational #44 Anything Goes, Cards for Men Anything Goes, Jingle Belles Thank You and Crazy 4 Challenges Thankful, Twisted Tuesday Autumn Thankfulness.
It's been forever since I have made a one layer card. I do a lot of CAS, just not one layer! That said, this is a great challenge. While I did add some gems, I still do consider this a OLC. I used a really old [so old] Hero Arts Leaf stamp, and a sentiment from another OOB company, Just Rite. I have had this sympathy set for like 15 years. It's a classic, that when needed, works perfectly! That's all for this challenge card. Your turn! Come on over to Addicted to CAS Challenge #218 and play along! Thanks for stopping by~ ps - I might have used affiliated links in this post at no additional cost to you.

Hello lovelies. I've been wanting to start a CAS (clean and simple) card series for awhile and finally decided to just do it. I haven't made up my mind how frequently I'll be doing this yet, but at least I've got the ball rolling. I even made a fancy graphic, haha. And, a hashtag.....! #wmwcascards (FTC Disclosure: as an affiliate for various companies in the craft industry, I will receive a small commission for purchases made through my convenient affiliate links, at no additional cost to you.) I love all styles of cardmaking yet don't really make that many CAS cards. Depending on where your Google search leads you, clean and simple cardmaking is defined as uncluttered with a lot of open or white space with minimal layers or embellishments. This card actually qualifies as a one layered CAS card. I have been a designer and affiliate in the craft and hobby industry for a number of years. I have a tendency to be brand loyal when creating specific cards for companies, also meeting the requirements of those companies. Which leads me to say, I plan to be a little more free with product selection in this series. I plan on using whatever inspires for the direction I have in mind, mixing the various brands that meet the needs for my creative endeavors! Gosh, I said a mouthful! I'm using a number of product brands for this project, starting with the focal point; an AALL & Create stamp set that I purchased from TopFlight Stamps, specifically to go with my Heidi Swapp sentiment. I began by stamping my image with black hybrid ink which is good for coloring with alcohol markers, along with my Misti stamp positioner. I also stamped the feet and legs on masking tape, then fussy cut for a bit of masking. I know, keep it simple, right? The masking technique is very simple and takes less than a minute to fussy cut. After stamping my image, I laid down my masked legs/feet on top to stamp my "floor" so that the feet and floor appear to be as one, rather than simply stamping the floor under the feet. The stamp set that I used for my floor is from Inkblot Shop and has been well loved. I only wanted a portion of that "floor" stamped on my card, to stay within the confines of my focal image, so I did some partial masking of that stamp or the floor, as well. If you wanted to make multiples of this card, it would be easy enough to do, once you get in the groove. This next step is an ode to my mother. She wore her house gowns ALL.THE.TIME! She had some of the tackiest gowns and I set out to make this gown tacky! I had a Miss Ink Stamps stencil floral design that was perfect for placing over my gown, using a fine tip black marker to trace some of the design onto the gown. I know if my mom were still with us, she would laugh uncontrollably at this card! Next up, the coloring! I used these Copic Sketch Markers: Gown: RV10, BG11, YR15 Body: E00 (Cheeks, RV10) Eyes: E37, YG11 Slippers: RV10, C7 Cap: BG11, C3 Floor: C7 Earrings: YR68 Mug: B93, B000 Other embellishing w/white gel pen I hope you enjoyed reading about the making of this card, the first in my series and I hope it inspires you to break out your supplies and get creative with CAS! Most of the stamps mentioned above have direct links attached if you click on the highlighted text. However, if you would like to shop for Copic Markers I do have an affiliate link; feel free to visit ScrapbookPal, my favorite shop for reasonably priced markers and low shipping! Other affiliate links can be found below for some of the other products that I used. Thanks so much for stopping by and if you leave a comment that would be most appreciated. I loved the Limited Supply Challenge Friday on Splitcoaststampers. The challenge was to create a Clean and Simple ( CAS) card project. It should be fairly easy to create a simple card front with very few embellishments but it is a far more difficult task than you would think. At least for me it is. ... Read more
Good afternoon, here's this week's sketch. I decided to keep my card pretty simple. I jazzed it up a bit by stamping some of my own backgrounds. I've been meaning to make my own jumbled letter background, and the large font of Studio Calico's Noah alphabet worked nicely. It's time for a new challenge at Addicted to CAS... and it's a summer themed challenge! There are so many ways you could go with this one and I can't wait to see what everyone dreams up! My card came about in an interesting way. I used some glittery watercolour paints on this piece of black cardstock and when it dried, I use this die on the panel. I forgot that the panel cuts a silhouette out of the cardstock and it wasn't going to work for the idea I had in my head for the CAS on Friday challenge. So I put it all aside and tried something different for my card that I posted yesterday. I sat down at my craft desk later that day to do something else, had an idea and had no time to execute it. So I quickly laid it out in a way that would remind me what I was thinking and went off to work. I don't get to create too much during my work week as my days are long, but as soon as I got home from work on Saturday, I put this card together. I used the failed panel to place the cut outs to create this beautiful summer night (complete with dragonflies and northern lights) card. Card Info *Cardstock: Stampin' Up!
