Hi! It's almost Christmas and I'm behind on all my scrapbook stuff. I planned a lot of things but only made a few of them, I think my mind is faster with ideas than the time available to execute them. Anyway, last week I shared with you a cute Winter mini album titled Cold Days. To make the video tutorial I made a second mini album and I have it in my desk, so I decided to mat it using Christmas papers from Miss Kate, using colors and embellishments that I can use for our photos. Since we live in a Caribbean Island, we don't have snow and sadly I haven't traveled yet to any place with snow, hopefully soon we can do it! For this mini album, I used the patterned papers and die cuts from Miss Kate Designs' "Deck the Halls" and the die cuts from "Christmas Eve". The colors of the products are so happy and bright, I love how this mini album turned out and I hope you like it too. Here are a few photos of the album, then you can find the flip through video and the link for my previous post that has the tutorial of how to make it. Check the flip through video of the Santa mini album here: You can find the tutorial (video and written instructions) to create this cute mini album here. Enjoy! Thanks for your visit, please stay safe and have happy and wonderful Christmas 2020!

Good morning, Crafters! I have a sweet, summertime tutorial for you today! If you are trapped inside with the air conditioning roaring, then it's the perfect time to whip up this little cutie! My monthly mini showcases the Authentique Summertime Collection! This is the perfect collection for these hot, humid, end-of-summer days! This summer collection comes with six different sheets and 12 patterns, However, the collection has TWO sheets of cut-aparts, Summertime Five and Summertime Six. If you purchase the paper pad, you get four of each pattern. That is plenty of paper to make this mini album! This mini is 5" tall and 3 1/2" wide (similar to the Meadow Mini Album, shared HERE). There are three pages, with lots of fold-outs and flaps, plus TWO waterfall sections! Let's get started on the tutorial. Cut two pieces of medium weight chipboard to 5" x 3 1/2". Cut one piece of chipboard to 5" x 1". Trim dark blue cardstock to 7" x 10 1/4" and attach the chipboard pieces to the cardstock as shown above. Make sure to maintain a 1/8" gap between the spine piece and the cover pieces of chipboard. Trim the cardstock corners at an angle and attach double-sided adhesive to the tabs. Wrap the chipboard as shown. Gently fold the covers while scoring in the 1/8" gutter (or channel) between the spine and the covers. Trim decorative paper to fit over the center spine section. Do this BEFORE adding your hinge mechanism. DO NOT add paper to your inside covers until AFTER you add your hinge mechanism. Create a hinge mechanism from dark blue cardstock. Cut the cardstock to 4 1/4" x 4 1/2". (The 4 1/4" measurement is the height of the hinge.) Score on the longer side at: 1", 1 1/8", 1 3/8", 1 5/8", 2", 2 1/4", 2 1/2", 2 7/8", 3 1/8", 3 3/8", 3 1/2". This will make three hinges that are 1/4" all with a 3/8" space between hinges. Attach the hinge to the spine of the book. Line up the scored 1/8" "gutters" on your hinge to the gutters on your album. Gently burnish and fold all your score lines. Trim decorative paper to add to the inside of your covers. Trim three pieces of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and add one piece to each hinge. Glue these "base pages" to the left side of each hinge. (Don't worry. Your decorative papers will cover the other side of the hinge.) Create a waterfall section for the front cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous page. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the first base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap, then the right flap to finish the first base page. Turn the page and work on the BACK of the first base page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 5/8" x 3 1/8" and score on the bottom at 1/4" from the edge. Round the top corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the bottom edge of the BACK of the first base page. Add a pocket to the bottom of the second base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flip the second base page over and work on the BACK. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 5 1/2" and score on the long side at 2" and 5 1/4" from the left edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the second base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the right edge of the second base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the right flap, then the accordion fold the left flap to finish the second base page Add a pocket to the bottom of the THIRD base page. Cut dark blue cardstock to 2 3/4" x 3 7/8" and score on three sides at 1/4" from the edges. Fold on the score lines and attach the pocket to the page as shown. Flop the page and work on the BACK of the last page. Cut a piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the right edge. Round the left-hand corners. Attach the 1/4" tab to the left edge of the third base page. Cut a second piece of dark blue cardstock to 4 7/8" x 3 3/8" and score on the long side at 1/4" from the left edge. Round the right-hand corners. Attach the flap to the right edge of the first base page. Add magnets as desired. Close the left flap to finish the last base page. Create a waterfall section for the inside back cover. Trim the dark blue cardstock to 4" x 3 1/8". Score each piece at 1/4" from the top edge. Use a corner rounder to round the bottom edges. Cut four waterfall pages. Attach the first to the top edge of the dotted paper by the 1/4" tab. Add each waterfall page just under the previous. Add magnets to keep the waterfall closed. Now your mini book is ready to decorate! I trimmed a piece of white, adhesive-back canvas to cover the spine of my book. Then, I added the yellow and white dotted paper to the front and back covers. I kept the cover simple by adding a word grid sticker and a bit of pretty ribbon. (The sticker is VERY OLD and I have no idea where it's from!) I double-matted the sticker and added it to a bit of scrap chipboard before gluing it to the cover. I found the cute crab button in my stash and thought he would like to end his days decorating the bow! I used a banner die to cut out the spine decor. I used a Tim Holtz brad to dangle some charms from the spine. (I have a bin of charms and a bin of beads, most of which have been with me since the early 1990's! I add to them from time to time, so I really don't remember where these particular items came from!) I added the fun Summertime papers to the inside sections of my book, and then just added a few stickers and other bits and bobs to decorate each page. The Summertime cut-aparts are the perfect size for my pages... and to fit into the pockets! I have no idea how long I've had some of these stickers! I almost never reach for stickers, but I am happy I still had these in my stash as they worked perfectly for this little book! I found clear stickers, and 3-D sticker, and word art...just a treasure trove! With TWO waterfall features, there is a lot of space for photos and journaling! If you want to see each page, watch my little walk-through video below! I hope you are inspired to beat the heat and make a little end-of-summer mini! Thanks for joining me today! Hello again everyone and welcome to my blog. Hope you are all having a wonderful day and that the weather, wherever you are, is being kind to you. It hasn't been so kind to us here in Adelaide lately with people's homes being flooded and torn apart. It's been absolutely heartbreaking, and there is more bad weather on the way. Just really hope this will be the last of it for quite some time to come. I am back to share the third photo folio made as an exchange gift for my Girls Day Out with Adriana Bolzon, Astrid Maclean, Heather Jacob and Helen Wallace. I hope you are not tired of these yet as there is still a bit more to come. I will be posting a little (not so little, actually! LOL!!) step by step tutorial soon. If you'd like to take a look at the gifts these beautiful ladies made for me, you can find them HERE. The first of the folios is HERE and the second one is HERE. This folio was made for Heather Jacob. The papers used here are from Kaisercraft's Rustic Harmony 6.5" paper pad. The design is similar to the Tim Holtz Collection Folios but my version is smaller being only 6.75" x 5". As with the other two I have only inked the edges, added some stamping, stenciling, die cuts and scrapmatts chippies. There is a pocket on the inside front cover which holds a photo mat. The first page is a half pocket page that holds a folded card which was used for all of us to write a personal message. The paper on the inside of the card is from Prima. Two half pockets make up the next page. Each pocket holds a journaling card for recording the details of the day. A full pocket page with a flap held down with a magnet. The pocket contains another photo mat. The final page flips out .. .. once .. .. twice .. .. and here is the back of the flip page and the inside cover .. .. and, lastly, the back of the book. As explained in the previous posts, I didn't do much in the way of embellishments as I felt the ladies could decide for themselves whether they wanted to embellish or not once the photos were in. So, I have now shared all the folios I created for the ladies and, all that is left to do, is the step by step tutorial. I am hoping to have that ready either next week or the week after, all going well. I really enjoyed making these folios. Not only because I knew they were going to some wonderful friends but also because I loved the challenge of designing the book and then putting it all together. Doing things like that keeps the mind active and, at my age, I need all the mental exercise I can get LOL!! Of course, I can't close this post without giving you the links to the wonderfully creative ladies I made these folios for. In alphabetical order Adriana Bolzon - AB Inspirations Astrid Maclean - Astrid's Artistic Efforts Heather Jacob - Art and Life Helen Wallace - Textures and Tales Love you, gorgeous girls. Thank you so much once again for dropping by and taking a look at my creations, I really appreciate you taking the time. Take care, stay safe and God Bless.
Hello, Graphic 45 Fans! It is time to share another Graphic 45 project with you! I had such fun playing with the NEW Lost in Paradise collection a few weeks ago (see the project HERE) that I decided to dip into the papers again, along with some other (retired) collections, and make a mini album! This chunky monkey mini is 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" x 2 1/2" in size! It is a nice, square, chubby book! I confess, I was a bit afraid of all the color and print in this paper collection. I finally had to throw caution to the wind and EMBRACE the vibrant colors and just create! There are six pages inside the book, plus a waterfall inside the front cover and a big pocket inside the back cover. This book is jam-packed with pull outs, flip ups, tags, and more! I have used four collections for this mini, but don't let that scare you! There is plenty of paper in one collection, if you have the 12x12 collection pack and the 12x12 patterns and solids pad, to make this book. If you add in and 8x8 pad and a package of ephemera cards, you will be all set! I have used: Lost in Paradise, Tropical Travelogue (I used the original, but you can use the Deluxe Collector's Edition), Nature Sketchbook, and Safari Adventure. You may be able to find Nature Sketchbook or Safari Adventure on Ebay, but they are both retired. To see all the pages and inside content, please view the video below. For the tutorial, keep reading. I have a photo tutorial to explain how to create the album base, plus a few tips for decorating. Also, I have used a different hinge mechanism than the one I usually use. I have been finding that the old hinge piece is not always working the way I wish. So, I tried something else this time. See the directions below. Start off with three pieces of heavy to medium weight chipboard. Cut two pieces for the covers to 6 1/4" x 6 1/4". Cut the spine piece to 6 1/4" x 2 1/2". Splice together black cardstock to make a piece that measures 8 1/4" tall and 17 1/2" wide. Place your chipboard pieces onto the cardstock, with a one-inch border all the way around. Make sure to space your spine chipboard piece approximately 1/4" from the cover pieces to allow the album to open and close without cracking the cardstock. Cut the corners of the cardstock an an angle, as shown. Add double-sided adhesive to the tabs. Then wrap your cardstock around the chipboard to give a finished edge. The book will have six pages (12 sides). To make the hinges, cut six pieces of heavy weight black cardstock to 6 1/8" x 1". (I used 110# cardstock.) Score each in half, fold and burnish. (Only five hinges are shown above, but please make six. One of my hinges was in the book before I thought to snap a photo!) Place double-sided adhesive on one side of each score line, as shown. To add your first hinge, line the fold of the hinge piece up with the very edge of the spine chipboard piece, with the fold on the LEFT. The 1/2" hinge will stick up, and the 1/2" gutter will be attached, as shown. For the second hinge, place the fold to the RIGHT and overlap the gutter from hinge number one. The gutter for hinge number two will be up against hinge one, as shown. For hinges three through six, make sure the fold is to the RIGHT. The gutter for each hinge should be placed up against each previous hinge, as shown. There should be a 1/2" gutter between each hinge. For hinge number six, line up the fold of the hinge piece with the very edge of the spine chipboard piece, with the fold on the RIGHT. This is what your project should look like so far. The six hinges will cover the spine piece. Each hinge is 1/2" high and there is a 1/2" gutter between each hinge. Cut five strips of decorative paper to 6" x 3/8" and sponge the edges with Abandoned Coral Distress ink. Attach one paper strip to each hinge gutter, as shown. Fold the hinges back and forth to make them more flexible. You can see in the photo above the gap between the spine and the cover chipboard pieces. I like to reinforce that and with the old hinge system, the space was always covered. With this type of hinge, we need to add a covering piece to the front and back inside covers to reinforce the gap. (This is optional and personal preference.) Cut two pieces of black cardstock (use weight 65#-80#) to 6 1/8" x 1 1/2". Score both pieces at 1/2" and add double-sided adhesive to the 1/2" tab. Place the 1/2" section on top of the first hinge to secure it in place (this will make the first hinge a double thickness). Once the piece is attached to the hinge, glue the 1" section to the inside front cover. Burnish and gently score the spine gap. Repeat with the last hinge and back inside cover. Trim two pieces of decorative paper to 6 1/8" x 6 1/8" and attach to the inside covers. (Sponge all papers for this project with the Abandoned Coral Distress Ink or Decades Rustic Orange, if desired.) To create the waterfall section on the front cover, cut six panels from black cardstock to 3 5/8" tall by 4 1/8" wide. Score on the longer side at 1/2". Round the corners opposite your score lines. Fold on the score lines, making sure to fold the 1/2" tab to the back of the panel. Place double-sided adhesive onto the resulting 1/2" tabs. Start at the top edge of the cover and add your panels. Line up the first panel with the top edge of the cover, in the center. Continue to attach the panels, lining up the folded edge of each panel to the bottom edge of the tab of each previous panel. Trim thin strips of paper to place over each tab, covering the black cardstock. These strips are approximately 3/8" x 4". Place a magnet onto the bottom center of the top waterfall panel. To see all the pages of the waterfall, view the video linked above. Cut a strip of cardstock to 4 1/2" x 1" and wrap it from the bottom of the cover up to the top waterfall panel. (I managed to slide my strip under the paper attached to the inside front cover.) Add a magnet to the strip. The magnet will line up with the magnet you placed on the first panel. This will also help your waterfall to stay neat and tidy. Cut decorative paper to cover both sides of the strip. Add an embellishment to the top, if desired. Add ephemera cards and decorative paper to each panel. The papers are cut to 3" x 4". Round the corners, as shown. Let's add the pages to the mini. I like to add my pages first, and then decorate them. I have fewer mishaps if I do it this way! Trim six pieces of heavy weight black cardstock to 6 1/8" x 6 1/8". Round the corners on one side of each page. Place adhesive on the left side of each hinge. Attach a page to each hinge. Trim decorative paper for each page. Each decorative panel should measure 6" x 6". You will need twelve (12) pieces. Once you have paper on all the panels, you can decorate as desired. Inside front cover and page one. The ATC tags make great tuck spots. The photo booklet on page one is 4 1/8" x 8 1/4" black cardstock, folded in half. Decorative paper folded inside and held with twine makes a fun place for some journaling. Pages two and three. Here is a wonderful example of the Lost in Paradise Collection working together perfectly with the older collections! The pocket on page two measures 6 1/8" x 3", which means you need to cut your cardstock to 7 1/8" x 3 1/2" and score on three sides at 1/2" to make the pocket tabs. Fussy cut images, popped up with foam tape, make great pockets and tuck spots! Pages four and five. The Graphic 45 tags and tag dies are prefect for this style of project. To create the band on page four, cut a border strip from the decorative paper, and attach on either edge with foam adhesive. Use a chipboard element as a "stopper" to keep the little accordion mini from sliding out of the book. The angled pocket on page five is easy to make. Cut a square of cardstock to 6" x 6" and cut it in half diagonally. Set one of the resulting triangles aside. Score the triangle on the two 90 degree edges at 1/2" to make the pocket tabs. Attach the pocket to the page. To make the booklet, trim black cardstock to 4 1/8" tall. Then splice pieces together to make a length of 15 1/8". Score every 3 1/8" to create five panels that are 4 1/8" x 3 1/8" each. The 4" x 3" ephemera cards are perfect for this accordion fold booklet. Lots of space for journaling! To see close-ups and the other side...you guessed it, view the video! Pages six and seven.Tuck spots and fold outs, oh my! Use an ATC tag as a tuck spot on page six. To create the flip-out piece on page seven, trim black cardstock to 10 1/4" x 5". Score at 3" and 7". Glue the center section to the center of page seven. Pages eight and nine. Photo booklets are a great addition to any album. And these sweet butterflies make great tuck spots for an ephemera card! The photo booklet on page eight is 4 1/8" x 8 1/4" black cardstock, folded in half. For page nine, fussy cut butterflies and pop them up on the page to create tuck spots. Pages ten and eleven. A riot of color! The pocket on page ten measures 6 1/8" x 3", which means you need to cut your cardstock to 7 1/8" x 3 1/2" and score on three sides at 1/2" to make the pocket tabs. On page eleven, a chipboard element makes a great tuck spot for another photo booklet. Page twelve and the back cover. Use a chipboard element for a tuck spot on page twelve. For the inside back cover, create a large pocket, as shown. Trim black cardstock to 7 1/4" x 4 1/2". Score on three sides at 1/2" from the edges. Fold the tabs, then add adhesive to the tabs and attach the pocket to the inside back cover as shown. Trim decorative cardstock to 6" x 3 7/8" and attach to the pocket. Use a circle punch to cut a notch on pocket edge. Decorate the pocket and place tags or other items into the pocket. (Too see all the tags for this project, view the video linked above.) I always decorate my front cover LAST. I am pretty rough on the covers while I am decorating the inside, so I like to save the covers until the end. Use a section of the Lost in Paradise Signature Sheet for the front cover. You need to cut a piece that is just slightly smaller than 6 1/4" x 6 1/4". I cut a piece of computer paper to size, and used that as a template to select the portion of the signature sheet that I wanted. This step saves wasting paper with false cuts! I fussy cut two postage images and popped them up on a few pieces of scrap chipboard to give the upper left corner of the cover some interest. I fussy cut lots of flowers, a bird, and a butterfly from the various papers and then layered them in the lower left corner of the cover. I added a few Matte Pearl Gems to the flower centers. The cover is fairly simple, but very striking with all that lovely paper. Cut paper for the spine and back cover and attach. I added a chipboard piece and more pearl gems to the spine. I used ombre sheer ribbon throughout the book. I used a yellow/pink ombre and a yellow/parrot green ombre. (Really Reasonable Ribbon has some lovely Sheer Ombre Ribbons.) I love seeing the ribbon peek out around the edges! Thanks for joining me today! Artsy Albums Scrapbook Mini Album and Page Layout Kits by Traci Penrod.
Hello dear visitors! I'm excited to share another mini album I created using gorgeous Graphic 45 papers "Craft Reflections". It's not a new collection and I have had it for a long time in my stash. I thought it was perfect for a vintage style mini album like the one I'm showing you today. The album's dimensions are 5 1/4" X 6 5/8", the spine is 3". It has 8 pocket pages and I used envelopes (standard size 6.5" X 4.5") for creating the base for them. I also used quite a few of Tim Holtz & Sizzix dies, I think they are perfect for the vintage style projects. You can find the guidelines for creating the album, including the measurements and the list of the dies in the YouTube video which I've posted on my channel here. Drop me a comment if you have a question. I have a short video tutorial on making these tag pockets using the Stampin' Up Tag Topper Punch. You can find a walk-through for this mini album on my You Tube channel here: Thanks for watching a have a great weekend! Hugs, Alexandra

Do you ever scrap about yourself? Are you ever even in the pictures? or are you the one who's always behind the camera? Often times, scrapbookers get so involved in documenting the lives of our kids, and our families, that we forget that someone, someday, might want to know who WE were in 2013! Join me for today's Folio Flip Album Tutorial where I share how I created this cute Folio with Recollections card stock and Colorbox paper.
Good morning, Crafters! I have a FULL Authentique tutorial for you today! Check out this spooky cute mini album featuring the Nightfall and Pleasant Collections! (I also found a 6x6 pad of the retired collection Enchanted, so I added a little bit of that, too!) My mini this month is in the classic style that I usually make, but is a little larger than my usual offering. This one is 8" tall by 5" wide with a 1 1/2" spine. There are four pages and two large pockets on the inside front and back covers. The album has FOUR waterfall elements. Plus, there are lots of flaps, pockets, and tuck spots! We have to start off by splicing some cardstock together because we need a 10" x 14" piece, and my cardstock only comes in 12" x 12". Cut one piece of black cardstock to 10" x 12" and a second piece to 10" x 4". Overlap the cardstock to create the 14" width needed. Note: You will need approximately twelve (12) sheets of 12" x 12" black cardstock for this album, if you make the album exactly like mine. For the covers and spine you need two pieces of chipboard measuring 8" x 5" and one piece that is 8" x 1 1/2". Attach the chipboard to the center of the 10" x 14" piece of cardstock, leaving a 1/8" gutter between the spine piece and the cover pieces. Angle the cardstock corners and apply double-sided tape to the flaps. Wrap the cardstock around the chipboard and gently score the gutters. Before you add your hinge mechanism to the spine, cover the spine chipboard with a piece of decorative paper cut to 7 7/8" x 1 1/2". To make the hinge, cut black cardstock to 7 1/2" x 6 3/4" and score on the shorter side at 1", 1 1/2", 2", 2 1/4", 2 3/4", 3 1/4", 3 1/2", 4", 4 1/2", 4 3/4", 5 1/4", 5 3/4". Accordion fold the cardstock to create the hinges. You will have four (4) hings that are 7 1/2" tall with 1/4" gutters between the hinges. Attach the hinge mechanism over the decorative paper strip on the spine. Attach decorative paper to the inside of the covers, as shown. Cut the cover papers to 7 7/8" x 4 7/8". Note: if you do not understand how to make this style of hinge, I recommend you do a YouTube search on one of these topics: accordion hinge, tab hinge, hidden hinge. There are many wonderful crafters how have filmed how to make this type of hinge. We will decorate the cover last. I always save the cover for last so that I don't mess it up while assembling and decorating the inside of the mini. To create the inside of the mini, follow these directions. First, we will create some large pockets for the inside front and back covers. Cut black cardstock to 6" x 5 3/4" and score at 1/2" from the edge on three sides. Angle the bottom corners. Use a circle punch to punch a notch in the top edge of each pocket. Create two (2) of these pockets. Add double-sided tape to the tabs, fold, and attach the pockets to the inside front and back covers. To create the four base pages, cut black cardstock to 7 3/4" x 8 1/2". Score at 4 3/4" on the long side. I used a circle punch to make a notch on the top right edge of each the page. We will glue one page to each of the four hinge tabs. See the directions below for proper placement of each page. I add my pages first and then decorate them, however. I will walk you through each page fully before moving on to the next page. Attach the first base page to the first hinge so that the fold is on the right side of the page. This becomes Page 1 of your album. Open the flap and add a pocket to the base page (directions just below). You will create four of these pockets. Cut black cardstock to 3 1/2" x 5 3/4" and score at 1/2" from the edge on three sides. Angle the bottom corners. Use a circle punch to punch a notch in the top edge of each pocket. Add double-sided tape to the tabs, fold, and attach one pocket to the first base page, as shown above. Set the other pockets aside. You will add a pocket to Pages 1, 4, 5, and 7. Decorate the inside front pocket, and then add some tags or other style photo mats. The paper for this large pocket is cut to 5 3/8" x 4 5/8" with a notch as shown. (To see more details, view the attached video.) The paper for the flap on Page 1 is cut to 7 5/8" x 3 5/8". Cut two pieces, one for the front and one for the back of the flap. (See below.) Here is how Page 1 looks with the pocket decorated and filled. Cut paper for the pocket to 2 7/8" x 4 5/8". Cut paper for above the pocket to 5 1/2" x 4 5/8". I created a 6" x 4" card for my pocket and also added a small tag. Flip the page, the back of this page is Page 2 of the album. Attach the second base page to the second hinge, making Page 3. Attach the page to the hinge so that the fold is on the right side BUT make sure that the flap is folded in, to make page 4. Page 2 and page 3 are going to hold waterfall elements, so you won't need pockets on these two pages. (See directions below.) Cover Page 2 and Page 3 with decorative paper cut to 7 5/8" x 4 5/8". Do this BEFORE you add the waterfall elements! To create the waterfall pieces, cut black cardstock to 6 5/8" x 4 1/8". Score at 1/2" from the top edge. Round the two bottom corners. You will need eight (8) pieces for these two pages. (Note: You will need 12 total LARGE waterfall pieces for this album.) Fold on the score lines to create hinges for your waterfall. Add double-sided tape to each hinge and starting at the top edge of Page 2, begin to add your waterfall pages. Add four pages to this page. Add four waterfall pages to Page 3 as well. This is what it looks like under the last waterfall piece. The paper for each of the large waterfall pages should be cut to 6" x 4". You may also use the cut-apart ephemera cards for this. To see all the papers I used, check out the attached video below. Flip Page 3 to reveal Page 4. Open the flap and add a pocket (described above) to the bottom of Page 4. Add the third base page to the third hinge so that the fold is again on the right, with the flap folded inward, making Page 5. Open the flap and add a pocket (described above) to the bottom of Page 5. Pages 4 and 5 are mirror image pages. The back of this third base page becomes Page 6 of your mini and will hold a small waterfall element (see directions below). The paper for the flaps is cut to 7 5/8" x 3 5/8". Cut four (4) pieces, two for the front and two for the back of the flaps. (See below.) Cut the paper and decorate the pockets as explained for Page 1 above. I used some square tags, decorated with Halloween images. To see details, view the attached video. Flip Page 5. The back this base page become Page 6 of your album. We will create a small waterfall element for this page. First we will make a band to hold the waterfall. Cut cardstock to 6" x 1 1/4". Score at one end at 1/2" from the edge. Align the score with the very bottom middle of the page. Round the top two corners. Add a magnet to the underside of this strip. Next, cover the base page with decorative paper cut to 7 5/8" x 3 5/8". Now, we will cut the waterfall elements. Using black cardstock cut eight (8) pieces to 4 5/8" x 3 1/8" and score at 1/2" on the top edge. Round the bottom corners. Attach the waterfall elements to the page, starting at the top edge. Eight (8) little pages will fit. Add a magnet to the top waterfall page. Use the band and magnets to keep the waterfall from "flapping around" when the book is in use. We will decorate the pages in a moment. Add the fourth base page to the fourth hinge, exactly like you added the previous page. This becomes Page 7 of your album. Once again, add a pocket to the bottom of Page 7. Cut papers for your waterfall element to 4" x 3". These are the perfect size for the smaller cut-apart ephemera cards. Also decorate your little "restraining strip." To see more detail, view the attached video. Decorate Page 7 by cutting paper for the flaps to 7 5/8" x 3 5/8". Cut two (2) pieces, one for the front and one for the back of the flap. (See below.) Here is how it looks with the pocket decorated and filled. Cut paper for the pocket to 2 7/8" x 4 5/8". Cut paper for above the pocket to 5 1/2" x 4 5/8". The pocket fits the 6" x 4" ephemera cards perfectly. Flip the Page 7 over. The back becomes Page 8 of your album, and will contain another large waterfall element. To create the waterfall, cut black cardstock to 6 5/8" x 4 1/8". Score at 1/2" from the top edge. Round the two bottom corners. You will need four (4) pieces for this page. Fold on the score lines to create hinges for your waterfall. Add double-sided tape to each hinge and starting at the top edge of Page 8, begin to add your waterfall pages. Add four pages to this page. The paper for each of the large waterfall pages should be cut to 6" x 4". To see all the papers I used, check out the attached video below. Decorate the inside back pocket, and then add some tags or other photo mats. The paper for the pocket is cut to 5 3/8" x 4 5/8" with a notch cut as shown. (To see more details, view the attached video.) Thanks for watching! Now, you may read the directions below for completing the covers of your mini album! Now, let's decorate the outside covers! For the front cover, cut decorative paper to just slightly smaller than 8" x 5". Cut a strip of the same print for the spine at slightly smaller than 8" x 1 1/2". Attach the paper with strong adhesive or with a multi-medium. For the back cover, cut a piece of coordinating paper to just slightly smaller than 8" x 5" and attach. Trim coordinating decorative paper to 2 1/2" x 4 3/4" and double mat it with cardstock (I used black and orange Spectrum Cardstock). Wrap the bottom edge of this panel with ribbons, and then attach this panel to the front of the mini album, approximately 1" from the top edge. Paint a chipboard phrase (spooky) black and add some white accents with a pen. Attach the phrase to the center of the coordinating panel as shown. Glue a bow and other embellishments to the bottom edges of the panel as shown. Matt one of the 4" x 3" Nightfall images with black cardstock and tuck it under the bottom edge of the ribbon as shown. I added a chipboard spider web to the spine. I painted the web with white distress paint. Thanks for joining me today! I am adding this project to the October Mini Album Makers Challenge! Hi scrappers! Recently, I've had a lot of requests for the instructions to my What's Cookin' Recipe Album kit that sold out in September. So, I just added them to my shop! They are simple, step-by-step, and include full color photos of each page. Now, you can replicate this fun project yourself. If you love to cook, bake, and enjoy great food ... this is a perfect scrapbook for you. It's a great way to organize your recipes and photos, AND it makes an amazing keepsake or handmade gift for someone. To purchase the instructions for this project visit: What's Cookin' Recipe Scrapbook Instructions There are so many ways to collect great recipes - from a friend, an online search, Pinterest, or the best way ... passed down through generations. Saving these recipes in this way honors the cooks and bakers that came before us and creates an album that will become a family heirloom. Spend time choosing your recipes. Consider your family traditions, holidays, meals you made from your garden, amazing desserts, etc. I have some recipe cards that are in my mom's handwriting. They are my most treasured! You may also have magazine clippings, photos, and journal tidbits to add. Great! I love the idea of adding photos to recipe books. Gather pictures of the people that inspired you, created the recipe, the completed dish, and the ingredients that go into it. Add fun photos of you, family, friends, your kitchen, or your garden. Photos will make your scrapbook so meaningful. If you want to personalize your book even more, journal about who created the recipe or who's in the photo, when they made it, where the photo was taken, what was the occasion, etc. Or keep it simple and type or write the date, place, or person’s name. These can be added next to your recipes and photos as a continuation of the story of your family history. For this album, I created tabbed divider pages to organize the recipes. I used stickers from the Simple Stories Apron Strings collection but you can customize the tabs to whatever you like. I added lots of clear divided page protectors for recipes and photos. This way, they are preserved but you can still take them out if necessary. So many cute recipe cards! I created this with a red 6x8 inch Simple Stories binder and two different collections that I fell in love with. One was the Simple Stories, Apron Strings Collection and the other was the Echo Park, Farmhouse Kitchen Collection. Below, I've added the links to my instructions and the products used. This recipe scrapbook is such a fun and simple project that anyone can create. I hope you have fun with it! Supplies: Affiliate links are used in this post at no additional cost to you. I receive a small amount of compensation when you click through and shop using the provided links. This helps me to continue building my small business. Thank you! Hello everyone, it's Deb Riddell of Paxton Valley Folk Art here with you today as a guest designer here at Mini Album Makers. A huge thank you to Autumn and her very talented design team for giving me the opportunity to share my project with you. I live in British Columbia, Canada on a small acreage with my hubby and our rescue dog (affectionately known as The Delinquent!) and I'm a mixed media artist and paper crafter. My style is usually vintage inspired feminine grunge but I love to experiment with many styles and mediums. I'm currently on Therm O Web's Mixed Media Education Team and am a Resident Tutor at Mixed Up Creative as well as a Creative Guide over at A Vintage Journey. I'm very lucky to be able to do what I love best everyday, create art! For my project today, I was strongly influenced by the spring weather that has finally arrived here in Canada and decided to make a little vertical mini album created with ... toilet paper rolls! I followed the YouTube tutorials shared by My Sisters Scrapper, you can find Part 1 of her tutorial here: https://youtu.be/-8vndiRxuWk and Part 2 here: https://youtu.be/_l3YfI2QuYc For my mini album, I used some thick chipboard packaging and covered it with papers from a Recollections 'Blossom and Bliss' paper pad. Laura Denison's 'Stack The Deck' hinge system was used to secure my 6 toilet paper roll 'pages'. I decided on a pink and green colour scheme and alternated the colours when wrapping the flattened toilet paper rolls. The inside and outside of the mini album was covered with more of the Blossom and Bliss paper and a line of Lime Green Stickles Glitter Glue was added around the edges. Journaling cards were created from white cardstock matted with more of the same paper and they were embellished on the front with a variety of die cuts and sentiments. I used kraft cardstock for all of the die cuts and embellished them with either embossing powders, foil or Perfect Pearls for a bit of shimmer. Stickers or stamped sentiments were also added to each card and the pulls were created with a Small Tattered Florals die cut. The back of each journaling card was stamped with Tim Holtz's 'Lined' background stamp. The first and last toilet paper roll pocket pages were embellished with flowers created with a combination of the Tattered Florals and Small Tattered Florals die cuts. Botanical Tea paper from Graphic 45 was used for these flowers which coordinated perfectly with the Blossom and Bliss papers. More flowers were created from the same Graphic 45 paper with the Small Tattered Florals dies to embellish the top of the mini album. On the front flap, a black metal bird sticker was painted with Spun Sugar Distress Paint and wiped back for an aged look but it was still a little too dark so I also inked it with Mushroom Alcohol Ink and Gold Mixative. One of Tim Holtz's Wildflower die cuts was cut from kraft cardstock and embossed with pearl embossing powder. A Metallic Quotations Sticker was backed with more kraft cardstock. Mini Detailed Butterflies were die cut from kraft cardstock and embossed with Irridescent Shimmer embossing powder for the back of the mini album. And here are a couple of more pictures of the inside of the mini album and the finished journaling cards. I hope that you've enjoyed seeing how my Sweet Life vertical mini album came together, I had a lot of fun making it. Thanks again to Autumn for the opportunity to share my project with you and have a wonderful week everyone, happy creating! Deb xo
