A colorful background for this quote stamp by Darkroom Door. Een kleurige achtergrond gemaakt voor deze tekststempel van Darkroom Door. First I stamped the Pansies Photo stamp with gesso. Left it to dry and colored the paper with Distress Stains. The gesso resists the stains. I love the quote, and the handwriting font. On the edges I used my Tonic paper distresser. I also pierced the edges. TGIF! Happy Groundhogs Day, I wonder if that little critter is going to see his shadow or not? I'm really hoping that spring comes early this year because I am sick and tired of the ice and snow. Perhaps that is why I am finding myself being drawn to pretty spring time colors when I go searching through my paper stash. This colorful print caught my eye right away and I knew just the stamp to pair with it. The new Uptown Girl Snapshots are so much fun and this one called I Heart You is a favorite of mine. I love how these stamps look like old Polaroid pictures, they don't require a whole lot of coloring so they make for a pretty quick and easy card. I even found an old push pin stamp in my stash so it looks like the snapshot has been pinned to the wooden boards behind it. :) Ok then, time for me to get ready for work. Stay crafty my friends! Supply list: cardstock- Papertrey Ink and Copic X-Press It paper- Webster's Pages stamps- Stamping Bella (Uptown Girls Snapshots I Heart You), Papertrey Ink (sentiment), October Afternoon (push pin) ink- Memento tuxedo black and Papertrey Ink smokey shadow My Favorite Things A2 stitched rectangle stax set 1 American Crafts Glitter Girl enamel shapes Divine Twine Copic markers: skin- E000, E00, E11, E04, R00, R20 girl 1 hair- E23, E57, E59 girls 2 hair- E50, Y23, E33 girl 1 shirt- Y04, Y08, Y21 girls 2 shirt- G00, BG34, G03, BG09 background- BG000, YG01, YG03, YG67, G29, E35 stick pin- RV04, RV17, C5 polaroid- C1, 0
Happy Sunday, peeps! Brrrr, winter has come upon us….hopefully this chilly weather won’t last too long here in PA! I am the hostess today for the Paper Players, and I chose one of my favorite styles of stamping: vintage! I just love the vintage, antique look you can achieve with some of the beautiful papers and stamps on the market these days! I have tons of vintage digital images, too, but this week I decided to focus on some beautiful papers I got recently from Graphic 45 called Botanical Tea: Not a lot of stamping here, just a few layered embellishments and a pretty row of organdy roses, retired from SU. I made a multi-layered flower with the Boho Blossom punch, and added some leaves from My Favorite Things, who also made the sentiment. I did a little sponging and added a few glittery elements as well! The sketch is a lovely one from Stampin’ Royalty: I sure hope you will play along with my challenge this week and shabby something up, or stamp something with an antique image! Check out what the other designers created: Andrea Ann Anne Marie Claire Jaydee Joanne Laurie Nance Sandy Yapha Cassidy told me she was going to draw me a leaf! First, she drew the outline, then began to color it in: Not too bad! Of course, using Grammy’s (retired) SU markers makes drawing and coloring even better! Enjoy your day!

Good morning to you friends! I have TWO cards to share with you today! It uses 3 new sets by JustRite. I have been on a watercoloring kick lately and wanted to use my Inktense pencils to color this first image. I stamped JustRite's new set, Oak Leaves in Versamark ink and embossed it in white. I colored the leaves with my Inktense pencils and a water brush. I stamped the acorns a second time and fussy cut them. I popped them up with dimensional foam circles. I added a bit of twine, rhinestones, and sentiment. I swiped all of the edges of the rectangles with Versamark and sprinkled them with gold glitter embossing powder by WOW!. I love the subtle sparkle it gives. A few sequins finished the card off. My second card uses two new sets. The Crackle Background stamp and the Mum set. I again stamped it with Versamark and embossed it in white. I used my Inktense pencils and a water brush to color the mum. The Crackle background was stamped with a dark brown ink on kraft paper. I added a sentiment, string, pearls, and a button to finish the card. And how about a little enabling? ;) Christmas is right around the corner!! Hello bloggers! Today's card showcases a bit of stamping for a change. I started with the background and embossed the Quilted Flower in coconut white for a bit of texture. Next I stamped the Tulips in black and coloured them with Distress markers, using Milled Lavender and Forest moss. I cut the flowers out with the Auvergne die, leaving in the die and inking the edges with Milled Lavender distress ink for a soft frame effect. I cut a piece of mauve card using the larger die in the set for a mat. I stamped just the tulips again, coloured them and cut them out to add on to the original flowers with mounting foam. I shaped the flowers a bit with a stylus too to give them dimension. I stamped my sentiment and cut it out with the Justrite tag die from the Vintage Labels Seven die set. I shaded it with Milled Lavender too before removing it from the die. I mounted it across the stems with foam. I added an Itty Bitty Mosaic and Classic bow made out of mauve and white card. The bow is just the right size for these flowers, don't you think? I cut an Austrian border in white and added it below my die cut for a little extra detail. I mounted this piece on a wide white border and filled it in with my Paved Pearl technique using Cosmic Shimmer white PVA glue dots in varying sizes to achieve the effect. A thin mauve mat and a finally white mat completed the card. The finished dimensions are 7" x 8 1/2" in size. I hope everyone has a great weekend! All for now, Sue x

Today was such an enjoyed day!! I went to Scrapfest in Kitchener with a friend and it was great to meet up with fellow stampers there. I picked up a few more stencils...(it's all your fault Virginia Lu!!...so happy I bumped into her) and some other crafting goodies to play with. When I got home, I was inspired by this challenge at Splitcoast. Here is the inspiration photo from the AIGA Design site: I started my card by stenciling the background with a stencil from The Crafter's Workshop. The stencil is filled with inspiring words and I love the font. I inked it up with Peeled Paint Distress inks then splattered some water onto the ink to add some depth. When that was dry, I stamped the flowers, added the sentiment and then lastly, the splatters of black for interest. I am adding my card to these challenges: Virginia's View- #2 STENCIL CASology- #90 WET (I added water and wet paint) Allsorts Challenge- SPRING FLOWERS Thanks so very much for coming by and taking a look. Today's card is for three challenges: Paper Players #112 (Colours from Lesley - Basic Gray, Baja Breeze, Basic Black) ... and Less is More #84 (One Layer - Foliage) ... and CAS-ology #10 - Sky. I struggle with one layer cards. I'm really not one to add lots of layers, but usally I have two or three and I love using die-cuts. So this challenge is just that for me. I went to Heather Telford's wonderful blog for inspiration. To me, she is the expert at one layer cards ... her masking and sponging is second to none. What's also amazing about Heather's work is her huge gallery of cards that are all so unique. Hope you like my "ode to Heather" card for today using the soft, muted palette from the Paper Players challenge. Please email me if you have any questions about how I made this card ... or check out Heather's tutorials on her blog. More leftovers:) The daisy is the very last one of several that I had. (I thought they were long gone, but one more showed up!) The stem and leaves were from the same sticker set from Elizabeth Craft that I used yesterday. The yellow panel was cut with a die. I love the "stitched" dies. The background was embossed and in my pile. I matted the layers with black. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you'll come back and visit again soon!
Happy Saturday! The snow is melting! Yay! I guess we are back to school next week. We have been less than 2 1/2 days in two weeks! I am ready for routine again that is for sure! I did have some time this morning to get crafty. For my second card I am playing along with a few blog challenges. I am using The Color Throwdown colors. I am using the sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday. Isn't this the coolest sketch? Love it! I also used the inspiration for patterns from Fusion Card Challenge. For my cards I am using MFT Stamps Products unless otherwise noted. I started with MFT smooth white, gumdrop green, cotton candy, kraft, and razzle berry card stocks. I die cut the kraft card stock with Inside and Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle Stax. I used versa mark ink pad to swipe around the entire panel before I stamped with Happy Birthday background stamp using Sweet Tooth pigment ink. I think it creates depth and richness for the words to pop even more. I used Stitchable Dots Circle Stax, Blueprints 15, and Blueprints 18 inside out stitched circle elements to die cut the background pattern to work with the sketch. I used Darling Dots stamp set on the cotton candy circles in versamark, fine check background on the razzle berry circle with razzle berry ink, and pinstripe background on the gumdrop green circle in gumdrop green ink. Next, I die cut the larger stitched circle using the circle elements from Blueprints 12. I used Fine Chevron Cover Up embossed for some added dimension and pattern. I used some foam mounting tape to pop up the circle element. Then, I die cut black licorice sentiment strip using Blueprints 20. I inked with versamark and white heat embossed the sentiment from Celebrate Big stamp set. I used some more foam mounting tape to pop up the sentiment strip. I finished with a few clear sequins. For my second card I am playing along with this week's MFT Weekly Sketch Challenge, The Colour Q, and Seize the Birthday "Anything Goes!" For this card I started with MFT smooth; white, blu raspberry, limeade, wild wisteria, and orange fizz. The card base is smooth white. I die cut another white panel using Blueprints 15. I die cut each of the colors using Fishtail Flag Stax die namics. I stamped the blu raspberry flag using fine check background in sweet tooth pigment ink. I stamped the smaller orange fizz flag using Darling Dots stamp set in sweet tooth pigment ink. I stamped the limeade using More Washi Patterns stamp set in versamark. I used diagonal stripe background on the wild wisteria flag using wild wisteria ink. For the larger orange fizz flag I used Spotlight Sentiments in sweet tooth pigment ink. I used versamark to add some dimension and shading to each strip. I stamped the "Birthday" from Happy Everything stamp set. I die cut the Happy die namics using Ranger Silver Foiled card stock. I finished with some loose thread behind the die cut word and some silver sequins. I actually made the third card last weekend. I could not decide if I liked it or not. It almost landed in the discard pile. I looked at it again today and decided to post it. Let me know what you think? For this card I started with MFT smooth white, berrylicious, gumdrop green, and lemon drop card stocks. The card base is smooth white. I die cut the gumdrop green and berrylicous panels with Blueprints 14 stitched panel. I die cut the gumdrop green with stitched snowdrifts die namics and created a grassy hill. I used Blueprints 13 to die cut the pinking circle element to create a sun. I also used the stitched frame from Blueprints 14 to finish the edges to match the background. I die cut and stamped the three bunnies from Somebunny stamp set onto Neenah Solar White card stock using Hybrid black licorice ink and die cut using Somebunny die namics. I colored wall three with copics. I used some hemp cord to create a "jump rope." I stamped the clouds that come in the set using sweet tooth pigment ink. I lightly accented the edges with a pale blue copic. I finished the card with a sentiment from Cozy Greetings stamp set using Hybrid Black Licorice ink. For this card I am playing along with Simon Says Monday and Simon Says Wednesday Challenges. Both are "anything goes." As always thanks so much for stopping by! Betty
Hello my crafty friends! The Canadian Collection has arrived! I am showcasing the new Canadian Background die here. This is a gorgeous two part background with stunning piercing detail to it. Use it without the inside cutting die to create the look that I have here or add in the middle die for a complete patterned background. So useful both ways, plus with the linear nature to it, you can easily cut it down to whatever size is needed too! If you would like a chance to win this one, a quick comment is all you need. If you are unsure about how to do that, there are easy to follow directions on the right hand side of my blog. Hope to see you back here at noon for the next post! All for now, Sue x
I don't know about you, but I am missing our Franziska in the gallery. Things have changed.. I am so drawn to her collage style that although she isn't around she still inspires me. Two stamps are HA - the background stamp and the script.

Good Sunday morning all! Another nice wedding card for you today! I started this card by inking the Treilliage mask with Clear Perfect Medium. I letter pressed it through the Grand Calibur with a piece of milk card, transferring the ink to the card. I dusted the inked card with gold mica powder for a soft shimmer. I matted this piece and added it to a larger piece of card that I stamped The Order of Service stamp on to and gold embossed. Using the wedding bell stamp, I stamped it with a Clear Perfect Medium pad twice, once on milk card and once on soft gold card. I gold heat embossed both pieces. I cut out the entire stamped image on the gold card. Then, I cut just the bells out by hand on the milk card and glued them in place over the gold card cut out. I added the piece to the centre of my background with mounting foam. I wrapped a piece of chalk seam binding around the card and added a messy bow. I topped it with a gold satin ribbon rose and two matching stick pins that I made. I finished the card with a pieced milk mat, a thin gold mat and a final milk mat. The finished dimension are 6 1/2'' x 7 1/2'' in size. Now it is time for the weekly Comment Game Winners to be announced. This week's winners are: Linda 28!!! Hannah Aitken!!! Mary Mac!!! For the extra qualifying post of Wed. Oct. 22nd, the winners are: Culliesocks!!! dlough!!! Linda McCall!!! Congratulations all! Please email me at [email protected] to confirm your address and claim your prize! All for now, Sue x

Hello! Today I have a take on a technique I shared here a long time ago. It's a version of the Crimped Envelope Technique, but instead of using a crimper, I used an embossing folder. In the crimped version, you trim a piece off the side of a sealed envelope and crimp the larger section. The crimping makes that piece narrower, allowing it to fit inside the other piece. Using an embossing folder works the same way, although it doesn't seem to make quite a much of a size difference, so the topper piece fits a bit more snugly. It's a fan variation, though, and a great way for folks who don't have a crimper tool. Here is a video for you and if you want to watch directly at youtube, click here. And if you would like to see the Crimped Envelope video I did a few years ago, click here. Begin by sealing the flap on an A2 (4 3/8 by 5 3/4 inch) ivory envelope. Trim 1 1/4 inch from the side. Sponge the sides using Gina K Sweet Corn ink. Sponge the sides using Gina K Innocent Pink ink. Using the foliage image from Up and Away, stamp several times using Gina K Warm Cocoa ink, but stamp off on scratch paper to make the image lighter. Emboss the large piece of the envelope, with the opening facing the top of the embossing folder. I used Spellbinders® Bricks and Bark M'Bossibilities folder. Then set aside the envelope. Stamp the large and medium hot air balloons, from Up and Away, using Gina K Dark Chocolate ink. Begin coloring, using Copic marker, E97. Blend out using E95. Then fill in with E93. Use R05 to color in the horizontal band on the larger balloon. Use E00 to fill in the tiny open air area between the baskets and balloons. Cut out both images using scissors. Stamp both clouds using Gina K Dark Chocolate ink. Use E33 to begin coloring. Add E31, then use the blender pen to smooth out the transition into the white areas. Adhere the images to the embossed pocket, using self adhesive foam squares. Stamp sentiment on 1/2 inch strip of ivory cardstock and adhere. Place topper piece over the embossed pocket section and tie brown cord around the topper. Sorry, I missed taking photos of the insert (I showed it in the video). The over-all size for the insert is 4 by 4 1/4 inches. This project makes a great way to give a gift card. Just add a glue dot to your insert and stick the gift card on ti, then place inside the envelope pocket. Thanks for stopping by. I hope you have a great day! At Just Add Ink this week we have a beautiful colour challenge. I’m not sure it would even be possible to make a bad card with these colours actually. Take a look at the rest of the design team’s work for some inspiration and then give them a try yourself. Here is my card : This card was kind of inspired by a thread I was reading on Splitcoaststampers this week. It was all about the new stampin up catalogue (which isn’t out for ages yet but it’s always fun to speculate). It asked which 3 stampin up sets we thought would retire, which 3 we hoped would stay around in the next catalogue, which 3 sets from mini catalogues we hoped would make it in and which 3 sets we hoped would retire (never to be seen again). Well I was really shocked and amazed that this Awash With Flowers set was mentioned by quite a number of people as one they hoped would retire. While I admit I haven’t used it heaps (but I could say that about a lot of sets I own actually :o) I have liked each card I’ve made with it. I really like this flower in the set especially. Anyway the thread “made me” use it again to prove it’s a good set and not one we need to get rid of. And in the top 3 sets you would want to retire? Unbelievable! I guess everyone has different taste. But I like it! Ingredients : Stamps : Awash with Flowers, Thoughts and Prayers Card : vanilla, crumb cake, choc chip, subtles dsp stack Ink : choc chip, crumb cake Other : big shot, designer frames, polka dot ef, crumb cake seam binding, pearls, corner rounder punch Well if you’re interested, here is what I wrote in the Splitcoast thread: 3 I think will retire Under the big top Season of joy Friends never fade Wish they would retire Flower Fancy Paisley Petals Punch Pals 3 I hope stay Field flowers Winter post En Francais From minis I hope this stays Open Sea I’d be interested to know your picks for these categories. Please leave me a comment and let me know what you’re hoping retires and stays :) Wishing you a very Happy Easter and I hope you find some time over the holiday to create something beautiful. Kathy

Hi Stampers...happy Simple Card Sunday! If you're new to Simple Card Sunday let me tell you how it works. We are all busy and have limited creative time so my goal is to show you cards that can be made in 10-15 minutes, in 5 simple steps, using minimal supplies. In addition to that, I will be having more videos for Simple Card Sunday so you can see me make the card in real time! So, lets get on with our card this week! You can make this card in 5 Simple Steps. Trim with snips. Mat on a scrap of Basic Gray cardstock. Trim with snips. Stick on card with Stampin' Dimensionals. Punch a small red heart with the Owl Punch and Real Red cardstock. Stick on the greeting. And, finally, here are a couple more ideas using the same layout! This one is super simple and features the Park Lane DSP. For this one, I flipped the card and stepped it up a bit with layered ribbon and some rhinestones. It uses the All Is Calm DSP & Endless Wishes set which will be in the upcoming Holiday Catalog! Hi everyone. Today is the start of the June Mixed Media Card Challenge ... you're going to have fun with this one!! Before we get to it, I just wanted to say that I have really enjoyed being on this team for the past year. I have learned a lot from my fellow team mates and hope to continue on my journey of learning new things, playing with new products ... and getting messy! :) I'll be stepping down after this challenge. Thanks to Shery and all the Design Team girls ... I've really had fun! :) Here's the challenge for this month ... I experimented with a few things making the card above. It all started with the background ... My friend Lee-Anne (Creatively LA) recently made a video tutorial on the Stencil Monoprint technique. It's such a great technique! Thanks for your wonderful step-by-step video tutorial Lee-Anne ... you made it so easy! :) Click HERE to see the video --- worth watching!! :) And as with every video tutorial you watch, if you find it helpful, please give it a thumbs up. It's a way of showing appreciation to those that take the time to share their knowledge with us. :) I LOVE this technique and my first try will be posted on my blog in about a week. :) Today I'm sharing my second go at it ... and I switched it up a bit and used sprays instead of ink pads and water mister. Worked great!! :) I hope you'll give this a try. By the way, I tried this technique on a few different papers. I used watercolour paper (works great) and with the above, I used mixed media paper ... love the results on that card too! I inked up my script background is soft gray, removed some of the ink in random places and stamped over top. I then stamped my flowers and bees in black archival. For some reason the flowers didn't turn out very dark, so I went over them with a permanent black marker. I then poured a few drops of my sprays onto a palette and painted the flowers. Wink of stella was added to the bees for a little bit of sparkle, and I added the frame as a finishing touch. I hope you'll join in our challenge of collage stamping at Mixed Media Card Challenge. The challenge is open for the whole month, so there's lots of time to play along. Hope to see you there! Stamps: En Francais (SU!); Efflorescence (Penny Black) Paper: White frame (Neenah); Mixed Media (Strathmore) Ink: Smoky Slate (SU!); Archival Black (Ranger) Accessories & Tools: Watercolour sprays (yellow, orange, magenta), Rectangle Nestabilities (Spellbinders), black marker, clear wink of stella Challenges; Mixed Media Card Challenge - June - Collage
Hi Bloggers. I'm at Phill Martin's shop, Honeypot Crafts in Nottingham, today for a demo day with the man himself. If you're in the area, please stop by. Not sure how much demoing there'll actually be but there is sure to be alot of giggling going on! Today's card features some of Phill's lovely stamps and gorgeous Graceful Mustard Collection - For the background, I ran a piece of Coconut White Card through the Grand Calibur with the Creative Expressions Rambling Blossoms Embossing Folder and inked around the edges with Scattered Straw Distress Ink. I rubbed Graceful Mustard Gilding Wax over the embossed design. I left it to dry for a few minutes and then buffed it up using a dry wet wipe. For the panels, I sprayed some Graceful Mustard Ink Spray Mist onto a piece of Cut n Dry Foam to make myself an 'ink pad'. I then spayed a little more onto my Craft Sheet and mixed this with a little Graceful Mustard Mica Powder. I added this to my 'ink pad' and used it to stamp Phill's Leafy Background twice on to Coconut White Card. I cut 3 panels, inked around the edges with Scattered Straw and matted onto Primrose Card. I stamped the sentiment from Phill's Baroque Sentiments Stamp Set using Perfect Medium and embossed with Graceful Mustard Embossing Powder. I cut it out using one of Sue's Stockholm Dies from the Scandinavian Collection and inked through the die with Scattered Straw. I cut one of Sue's Oslo Dies (again from the Scandinavian Collection) out of Primrose Card. I cut a couple of leaves out of Primrose Card using Sue's Petite Vinery Die Set. I popped some Graceful Mustard Twinkles onto my Craft Sheet, picked it up using a piece of Cut n Dry Foam and dabbed it over the leaves. I popped some Pearl Cosmic Shimmer Shimmer Paint onto my Craft Sheet, mixed in a little Graceful Mustard Mica Powder and used it to colour a piece of White Crochet Ribbon using a piece of Cut n Dry Foam. I cut the ribbon down the centre lengthways and made a flower. I assembled the card as shown adding some White Pearls to the corners and some dots of Graceful Mustard PVA around the edges. John Lockwood is on the Toolshed on Create & Craft today at 12noon with some great MDF storage. Hope you can tune in. Thanks for stopping by. Julia.
