Niuno risponde. Al pomo della spada e al calcio delle picche, lo sportello cede... Divampa il sole, l’aria brucia! Ai terribili colpi, d’eco roca, una voce pura — argento e cristallo — risponde... C’è una bimba pallidissima e fragile sul limitare. È tutta occhi azzurri; e negli occhi delle lacrime. Scialbo oro recinge il suo visino curioso e sgomento — Buon Cid! andate...
