Step into the world of "Dripping with Possibilities," a beautifully poignant photograph captured in black and white. The image features a young girl standing at the ocean's edge, gazing at the majestic Alaskan mountains across the inlet. The embroidery threads, tracing the pathway from the girl to the word "Possibilities," emphasize the vast array of opportunities life holds. This photograph is a compelling visual ode to life's endless prospects. The embroidered word "Possibilities" boldly stands out, accentuated by errant threads dripping down, emphasizing life's boundless opportunities. This art is a constant reminder to face the future with an unquenchable spirit of optimism and an unyielding childlike wonder. The striking contrast between the serene girl and the towering mountains paints an awe-inspiring narrative—a reflection of the dual nature of life, blending the simplicity of a child's gaze with the vastness of the unknown. The image embodies the idea that life, like the inlet before the girl, is a wide expanse waiting to be explored, dripping with opportunities at every turn. While the print reproduction doesn't include the original embroidery, it encapsulates the essence of this captivating piece. Printed on luster finish paper with high-quality inks, the vibrancy and detail of the original are beautifully preserved, promising enduring, awe-inspiring visual impact for decades. The internal 1/4"margin around the image makes framing this artwork effortless, allowing you to bring a touch of inspiration and optimism to your space. Embrace this print as a daily reminder to approach life with the curiosity, enthusiasm, and boundless hope of the young girl staring into the unknown. This artwork captures the beauty of life's untold stories, inspiring you to greet every moment with a heart full of possibilities. *The original of this mixed media artwork was displayed in the Juneau-Douglas City Museum in early 2015.

More silk-sea and long-exposure experiments. I went down to the docks, trying to get some minimal landscape photos. But unfortunately, and strangely the Icelandic winter darkness was to bright for a decent long exposure, even with my -2 stop polarizing filter. So instead of giving in and go home, I decided to point the camera downwards, at the waves braking on the rocks. This one, captured in 4 seconds, shows quite well the transition of the sea, crawling through the stones in a misty form, I think. I've posted way to few pictures recently. But don't worry, I got a few that are ready to go online.

Black & White Film Captured image of vintage typewriter. Fine art Black and White print in choice of size and finish. ARTIST'S STATEMENT I have studied traditional black and white photography with a number of academic professors over the years since the 1970s.All of my images are captured on black and white film.I have also studied in the same academic settings, the history of photography and therefore historical processes since the mid 19th century. One person I feel important in this context is Sir John Herschel who in 1839 coined the word "photography" from the Greek "photo",light, and "graph" to write, in other words to "write with light.Herschel also invented the Cyanotype process a very early photography process and one of the first historical processes I learned.Since learning that process I have added many other historical processes that require UV light to print and therefore must be printed in the sun or some other source of UV light. Also in the historical context the cameras that I use are also at least 50 to120 years old, they range from 35mm up to 8x10 format cameras, again all using black and white film.I develop all film myself, and the combinations of the hundreds of different films and developers are endless and contribute to the artistic process of creating a physical fine art photograph.Once the film is developed the negatives are used to produce one of the historical process prints on a variety of art paper many times watercolor paper, creating a one of a kind print that is impossible of replication.Much of the developed film is scanned and digital prints can be made from these in unlimited editions .The works I will be offering here are therefore initially captured with vintage equipment and then processed in the natural world using the "magic" of physics and organic chemistry. What I hope to offer here are images in hard copy and printed as described above, and curated based on selection previously either by publication in art magazines, or selected for juried gallery shows, or some way selected as meaningfully by others. I offer for your consideration my work as a photographic artist.
