As I have said before, I LOVE making prints with my Gelli printing plate. I had a few hours of time this afternoon and had a little printing party with myself. I then had to force myself to quit and clean up. I felt like someone had just told me my parents had come to pick me up... early. Despite having limited time, I did manage to try something new with my plate. I was inspired by a fantastic instructional video on the Gelli blog that showed me how to make stamps with craft foam. Yesterday, I kinda went nuts and made ten 8 x 10 stamps using heavy foam as the backing and thin, stick-on foam for the designs. Here they are all clean and new. As I played around with each stamp, I learned that these work best with a very thin coat of paint. I also learned to keep inking and pulling until the design is completely gone. To my delight, I was able to pull up all kinds of layers and colors for surprising effects. These circle prints are my favorite, especially the two on the right. Both were created by using extremely thin layers of paint over previously pulled designs, kind of a lightly re-inked ghost print. One of the other things I love about print-making... the "trash" is pretty too. These brayer papers will go into my collage pile. I use deli paper to soak up excess paint on both the plate and the stamp. The result is a stack of beautiful, tissue-like prints that look gorgeous when layered in collage. I can't wait to play with all my new papers. Not sure what I will create, but I know I'll have fun!

Is your classroom such a fun and amazing place that your kiddos won't stop talking about it? What a wonderful feeling right? Until the noise level gets so out of control that you can't even hear yourself think! Sometimes it's tough to establish clear voice level expectations, so the Blabber Brush is here to help! The Blabber Brush is an easy tool that will help you establish clear expectations with your students about where their voice level should be while they are working. All you have to do is attach a small piece of velco to each colored paint and the brush, and move the paint brush to the color you would like them to be at. Each color means a different level: Green(speaking at an indoor voice level) Yellow(whispering quietly to their neighbors) Red(quiet and mindful work) With the same concept as a stop light, your students can clearly see at all times where you would like their voice level to be. This is not a classroom management tool that is meant to be used when your kiddos get too loud. Meaning, it is not intended to have your students start on Green, and if they get too loud they get moved down to yellow or red. Instead, it is up to you to explain to them that when the Blabber Brush is on Red, that simply means that you would like them to be quiet and extra focused on their work- they are not in trouble (IMPORTANT to explain that!) This 'Blabber Brush' comes in 3 different formats (JPG, PDF, & PNG) and 3 different sizes (18"x24", 11"x17", & 10.5"x11).

Bossy Behavior - Social Skills - Circle of Control Every classroom has at least one “bossy” student. The other kids avoid working and playing with them. It seems like no matter how many times we try to explain how it’s affecting their relationships, they just won’t stop. This resource can help! Typically, kids don’t WANT to be bossy. They want to create friendships, not lose them. There are many factors that can cause them to act this way. Bossiness is a natural way for humans to try to control their environment or situations that they find themselves in. Some people are more flexible; therefore, less bossy. But others tend to face more anxiety about if a situation will go the “right” way. First, this resources walks students through identifying WHY they’re acting this way. Then, it teaches about what IS in their control and what IS NOT in their control so students can learn to only focus on what they can control. Includes: ☑️ detailed lesson plans ☑️ colorful & engaging lesson slides ☑️ class or small group sorting activity ☑️ individual circle of control activity Get Unlimited Access to the entire store HERE! Prints play a huge role when you’re shopping for clothes. Sometimes the main reason why we’ll buy a piece of clothing is that we like their printed pics or logos, but sometimes it’s the opposite. If we stop loving the print or it starts to fade away, it doesn’t mean that we need to throw out the clothes immediately, we can just try removing it instead. We at 5-Minute Crafts picked the best ways to remove the print from shirts.
