Recently, I encountered a student from the Indian sub-continent who informed me that he was an ardent feminist. His mother and sisters were highly educated and he was all for women's liberation. However, he added, it was an awful pity that women in the West made themselves so cheap -- dressing like tarts and flaunting their sexuality. Did they have no self-respect?

The neat thing about this beautiful “glass” sculpture is that it is flexible and can be re-shaped again and again! Emily was so proud of her sculpture, and they are simple and frugal to make using materials you probably already have on-hand. I used wired cutters to cut a long piece of thin gauge wire, […]
For the second year in a row, my daughter is participating in a local event put on my town where vendors come together the first weekend in May to sell items. It’s kind of like a street fair meets flea market. There are food trucks, craft items, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and more for sale at this young entrepreneur's event. Last year my daughter sold brownies and lemonade. This year we are brainstorming what to have in her booth. I want her to be able to make it herself mostly but also be PROFITABLE. This pattern is now also available in English. Þessi peysa er fyrir ca 5-6 ára Ég notaði stærðir miðað við 6 ára þegar ég gerði þessa peysu, en 4-5 ára krakki getur vel notað hana þó hún sé svolítið víð. Prjónar: 5-6 mm og 4-5 mm. Ástæðan fyrir að ég skrifa þetta svona er að samkvæmt flestum þá þarf prjóna 5mm til að fá neðangreinda prjónfestu, en ég prjóna greinilega ansi fast, því ég þurfti að fara upp í prjóna 6mm til að fá þetta. Ekki í fyrsta skiptið sem ég þarf að nota stærri prjóna til að fá rétta prónfestu :) Prjónfesta: 18L = 10 cm og 24 umf. = 10 cm á stærri prjónana. Garn: Snældan, þriggja þráða (fæst í Litlu Prjónabúðinni ): Gult - 50 gr hespa,1 stk. Svart - 50 gr hespa, 2 stk. Milligrátt - 100 gr hespa - 2 stk. Ég notaði um 120 grömm í peysuna svo ef það er hægt að kaupa 50 gr hespur myndi ég kaupa 1x100 gr og 1x50 gr). Ég finn því miður ekki litanúmerin, en vonandi kemur það ekki að sök. Einnig er hægt að nota léttlopa í peysuna . This sweater is intended for someone about 5-6 years old, but a 4-5 year old can also use it even if it might be a bit large for him or her. Knitting needles: 5-6 mm / US 8-10, and 4-5 mm /US 6-8. I use circular needles and magic loop when the circle gets smaller, but of course you can use DP needles if you are more used to that. The reason I give this variation is because it seems that most people get the gauge in this pattern with 5mm / US 8, but I’m obviously a tight knitter because I had to use size 6 mm /US 10 to get that gauge. Not the first time I find I have to use knitting needles larger than most other ;) Gauge: 18L = 10 cm / 4 inches and 24 rounds = 10 cm / 4 inches on the larger needles (5-6 mm / US 8-10). Yarn: Snældan, 3tr. Yellow - 1 x 50 gr skein. Black - 2x 50 gr skein. Grey - 2x100 gr skein. I used about 120 gr of the grey color, so if you can buy 50 gr skeins I would buy 3 of them. I unfortunately didn’t remember the color numbers, but I hope that doesn’t matter so much. You can also use ISTEX Létt Lopi for the sweater or other Aran weight yarn.
Collaborative practice in the classroom can facilitate acceptance, cooperation and teamwork. This collaborative activity was created from the rubric of one of my most popular resources and will be offered "free forever" as part of my own collaboration with teacher/authors here on TpT who are committed, as I am, to teach and model tolerance, respect, empathy and compassion for all children in our classrooms and communities. The concept is simple – the results are awesome! Using simple materials such as colored pencils, markers, crayons, paints - each student works independently on his/her “tile.” Once completed, 4 students join their tiles together to form a whole. Simply trim away the excess paper and tape the squares together on the back. Easier still, tape them in place on a large sheet of colored paper. The completed piece is accomplished by turning each square 90 degrees clockwise and measures app.15½ x 15½ inches. Are you looking for some cute ways to ask a girl to be your girlfriend? I have compiled a list of some of the most unique and super romantic ways!
As your daughter gets off the bus, you notice her flushed face and her eyes are filled with tears. You ask what’s wrong, and the words come flooding out. “Julia said she won’t play with me at recess anymore. I don’t understand why she’s mad. I was just telling her the right way to play!”

Here is a super fun Halloween art project that you can do with your kids at home, or in the Kindergarten classroom. It all started when I asked my five year old to think of a project that kids in her class would enjoy. She said "cardboard ghosts!" So I went with this idea, and it ended up being a really fun project. When you hang the finished ghosts on a tree they will spin in the wind and the eyes create a fun effect. Scroll down to the bottom to watch a video of how they look when spinning!Mat
Nicole, kindergarten teacher and creator of Mrs. Ricca's Kindergarten, came up with this cute first week of school lesson to go along with David Shannon's David Goes To School that will help you address the issue of classroom behavior with your new kinders. The best part is, she provides free printables to go along with it! Using her printables, we revised the lesson a bit to suit our needs. While the original lesson shows the use of a pocket chart, we didn't have one handy so we simply pieced together pieces of scrapbook paper to act as a 'frame' for the lesson. Additionally, we created our own headings, mostly because we wanted to incorporate our own clip art to mimic our voting paddles {see photo below}. We wanted to create an interactive lesson, so the goal is to present the kiddos with each behavior option and have them hold up a "thumbs up" sign if they think it's a good choice or a "thumbs down" sign if they think it's a poor choice. The change in clip art meant we had to revise the cut and paste activity as well. We created our own activity sheet and used the original behavior cards to create new squares for students to cut apart and paste to the worksheet. [NOTE: We liked the continuity of using the same behavior cards in the review activity as were used in the original class discussion/anchor chart. We printed the cards in black and white and figured kiddos could use the completed discussion chart for help if they were unsure in which column the item should be glued. However, Nicole does provide a set of separate cards to use so you don't have to create your own!] Overall, we think this is a great way to discuss what positive classroom behavior looks like!
