Most toy photographers have a place in their hearts for Star Wars. It doesn't matter if that toy photographer is in the United States, the United Kingdom, Brazil, the Philippines or Malaysia - Star Wars is the common thread that runs through most of them. I use the toys as a jumping off point to other stories, adventures and humor. The Star Wars toys have been a way for me to tell a variety of stories by combining them with toys totally unrelated to Star Wars (also known as "mashups.''). A blood thirsty Rancor with Simba from The Lion King? Yes please (and sorry, Simba)! I love presenting iconic characters in unexpected ways, so a hardcore Star Wars fan would do well not to expect images from me that are accurate and faithful to the original movies and characters. With that said, my images are absolutely a celebration of one of the greatest adventures ever told in film. And one thing I think we can all agree on, it's dangerous being a Stormtrooper!

Selfies are known for being awkward close ups snapped by celebs or teenagers, but experimental artist Alex DeForest brings beauty back to the self-portrait.
One artist has imagined what the internet’s biggest services would look like if they were made for a bygone analogue era, whether it’s an Instagram-branded Polaroid camera, or a Spotify cassette player.
HOT POT MATS The cheats way! There are a lot of fabrics, especially Japanese prints which make fabrics ready made in quilting squares, the one I have uses I brought from a Fellow Folksy Seller, but tons to be found on Etsy. These squares are 2" square and as the pattern repeat was every 4 square I have made them 6" square. You will need Fabric cut to size 6 1/4" x 6 1/4" Wadding/Batting - over sized Backing fabric - over sized Bias Binding - up to 30" First lay the backing fabric face down Then the wadding / batting Last Top fabric face up, and then pin together (I have used 2 layers of batting in mine, as I wanted them foolproof and a little spongy!) Starting from one corner edge, I have my machine needle in the middle, for these small ones as I want my lines closer together, but for larger ones I would put the needle over to the left. Set the stitch for a straight line, I use the same stitch I would use to sew most things! Start sewing following the edge. When you get to the next corner, I may take a couple attempts at making sure your needle is far enough along, but you need to stick to the edge of the fabric, repeat this until you reach the beginning. You now will continue to follow with the sewn line on the right, around and around, until your squares get smaller and you reach the middle. Secure last stitch, back and forth. The Lines on the front The sewn lines on the back, easier to see the sewn line on this side. OK your mat will look a bit like this before trimming Trim you excess backing fabric and the wadding/batting fabric Next attaching the bias binding, I use what I sell which is single folded 25" Open out one edge and pin to one edge of the mat on the front. Sew down the open fold, until you reach near the end (which is the distance you are sewing away from the edge) I somebody has a better way of doing this let me know, as I do like to make my own way of sewing as I go along! I then remove it from the machine and place the binding on the next edge, as in the photo Another glimpse how the binding will tuck, pin if need for ease. Following from where you left off sew down the 2nd edge, repeat the for all four edges End of the fourth edge, I sew right off the end. Turn over to see what you have achieved so far! Last bit, and hand sewing, pin the back of the bias binding and slip stitch closed, folding your four corners as you go (I really do need to do a binding tutorial!) One thing I forgot to mention is insert a piece of ribbon across one corner on the reverse before you start sewing, so the mats can be hung on hooks in the kitchen! If you think I have missed anything let me know. Happy Sewing. Kx

Have a virtual show-n-tell with your students while working on language skills. This visual is great because it targets “wh” questions, describing, and expressive language naturally during a fun activity. Students LOVE showing their pets, favorite toy, favorite snack, and other treasures they have at their house. Play along and share something with them (and model the questions on the visual for them!) You could use this activity as a warm up to your speech therapy session! This could also be done in a group setting! There are two options included in this download: A virtual show-n-tell visual and an articulation find-n-tell visual. Articulation Find-N-Tell: Tell the student to find something in their house that contains their speech sound (have them write it in the box at the top or you fill it in beforehand). When the find it and show it to you have the answer the questions about it and practice the word 5 times (they can place a stamp or check in the box with the annotate tool). If they find 5 objects that will be 100 trials! This is also great to email to parents as a home activity. Variations: If too much time is being spent on searching for objects here are a few tips: Prep the parent before hand and have them place some objects close by with their speech sound (give them some suggestions using the child’s specific sounds, example for /k/ cup, candy, cookie, cat, car, etc..). Use books or magazines pictures: tell the student to find pictures in a book or magazine and hold them up to the camera to show you. You find things in your house with their speech sounds and show them! Instructions: Pull up the PDF on your screen. Select screen share in your platform (some platform say “present” instead of screen share). When students show you their item, have them answer the questions on the page and check the boxes. I have them check the boxes with the annotating feature in Zoom but you could also use the annotation feature in other platforms of PDF editing applications. You could also have them put a stamp in the box if your program has that capability. ***Important: If you want to use this in the iBooks app, please email me [email protected] and ask for the password. You will need to enter it before it will let you annotate.
