Learn the up-close and personal story of Call the Midwife as told by the cast and crew. A Labour of Love is a moving journey through beloved series and features personal reflections, stills of fan-favorite moments, and anecdotes and insights from co-stars, producers, technical crew, and guests. Each chapter, spanning each of the ten years of Call the Midwife—set from 1957–1966 and filmed from 2011–2021—takes a deep dive into the themes, locations, fun times and technical challenges from each season. Author Stephen McGann, who plays the indefatigable Dr. Turner, intersperses personal interviews with key cast and crew about their feelings, thoughts, and memories of filming key moments of the drama.
Emily Nussbaum on the PBS series, based on a memoir by Jennifer Worth, which delves into female reproductive experience in postwar London.
You are going to fall in love with this Call the Midwife blanket! Inspired by the British BBC (aired on PBS in the US) TV show, Call the Midwife, this timeless crochet baby blanket is a nice pattern to crochet for babies. A lightweight white yarn is used, which means it's also a perfect christening blanket to give as a homemade gift. This crochet baby blanket measures about 30 by 35 inches, but the size is easy to adjust by adding or subtracting from your starting chain. It's a surprisingly simple afghan to crochet, despite the lacy design. Make this for your next baby shower or to donate to the preemies at your local hospital. The delicate and vintage style is still loved by modern mothers and will keep the newborn warm and happy.

Many of you probably know the show "Call the midwife" on the BBC television? Lots of nice crochet baby blankets are shown here, probably the reason this show is also popular among us ;-). The very popular pattern of "the midwife blanket" you can find HERE. It inspired me to make a nice little birthday bunting. Makes a nice gift for newborn babies don't you think? And I made this foto tutorial for you. Laten we beginnen: Dit zijn de gebruikte afkortingen: l = losse st = stokje v = vaste Haak 4 l. Toer 1: haak in de 1e l een st (foto 1) haak 3 l, keer het werk (foto 2) Toer 2: haak 1 st in 1e steek (= meerdering) (foto 3), haak 2 st op "stokje van lossen" van de 1e toer (=totaal 4 st), 3 l, keer (foto 4) Let's begin: (this pattern is written using UK crochet terms) These are the abbreviations I used: ch = chain tr = treble dc = double crochet st = stitch Chain 4. Round 1: tr in first ch you've made (picture 1), ch 3, turn (picture 2) Round 2: 1 tr in first st(=increase) (picture 3), 2 tr into last tr (made of 3 ch in round 1) (= 4 tr), ch 3, turn (picture 4). Round 10: 1 tr into first st, 4 tr, ch 3, 1 dc into chain space, ch 3, skip 2 tr, 5 tr, 2 tr into last st, ch 3, turn (picture 10) Round 11: 1 tr into first st, 6 tr, 2 tr into chain space, ch 3, 2 tr into chain space, 5 tr, 2 tr into last st, ch 3, turn (picture 11) Round 12: 1 tr into first st, 8 tr, 3 tr into chain space, 9 tr, 2 tr into last st, ch 3, turn (picture 12) Round 13: 1 tr into first st, 22 tr, 2 tr into last st Haak 2 l, haak nu langs de lange zijkanten van de driehoek een toer van vasten (foto 13). Dat zijn ongeveer 26 v langs de eerste zijde, dan 5 v in de punt (foto 15), en dan weer ongeveer 26 v langs de andere zijde (foto 14) Ch 2, make dc along the long side of the triangle (picture 13). This is about 26 dc on the long side, make 5 dc into the corner of the triangle (picture 15), and make about 26 dc on the other side back (picture 14). Dan haak je 4 l, 1 st overslaan (foto 16) 1 st + 1 l, *1 st overslaan, 1 st + 1 l*, Van * tot * herhalen, eindigen met 1 st op 1e vaste van de toer rondom. (= totaal 14 st, 13 openingen) (foto 17). Hecht af. (foto 18) Then ch 4, skip 1 tr (picture 16) 1 tr + ch 1, *skip 1 tr, 1 tr + ch 1*, repeat from * to *, finish with 1 tr into the first dc of the dc round (=14 tr in total, 13 chain spaces) (picture 17). Fasten off (picture 18) Zo, nu is het eerste vlaggetje klaar! Before you crochet the flags together, it's important to block them first. I always use my ironing board, pins and a plant spray. Especially the right upper corner needs to be shaped in a good way. To crochet the little flags together you begin with ch 40, then use the dc stitch on the upper side of the flag, between the flags I did ch 10. I hope this tutorial is clear to you and I wish you a lot of crochet fun! Tot gauw! See you soon!
