Hello Lovelies! This week I am sharing my Shabby Chic Christmas Home! This is actually a repost from last year as this year I have not had time to take new perfect pictures! As you all know, I just adore Christmas! This is my living room tree where I put up a vintage style white Christmas tree with pretty gold, pink and white ornaments! I love how this years tree turned out! I added a pink and white flocked poinsettia topper with the prettiest bridal lace and soft pink tails coming down the fronts and sides! In the center I gathered the tails and added more bows to give it that extra razzle dazzle! I am also in heaven over the moon for my darling ruffled tree skirt, made by Rhoada's Ruffles on Etsy. Click here for the link to her Etsy store, Rhoadasruffles! Here is the closeup of my tree topper!!! Lots of fluff, flowers and my sweet sparkling bird in her perch! I also Shabbydazzled up my mantle this year.... ...and then hung the stockings by the chimney with care! Of course I had to add some gorgeous trims and bows to my stockings! For my dining room I used a pretty pink tree trimmed in the tulle from my bridal petticoat! Ooohhh la la! This is my Thanksgiving day table! I will have new pictures for Christmas dinner! I host both Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners, so during the Holidays I have a house full! ~~giggles~~ In my cottage kitchen I used some Sugarplum colors! This is a smaller Princess angel tree in my living room! I am in love with cherubs this year!!! A pretty vignette in my living room! ~~~Angel Kisses~~~ Tussie Mussies and Lollipops! Our day 18 activity on our Christmas Count Down was making a Santa beard, it was very easy to do and the results were extremely cute :-) Bubble was a bit put off by the feel of the cotton balls to start with, but warmed up quickly, especially when she saw that there was glue to squish! WE USED: * sheet of white felt * craft glue * scissors * cotton balls * white wool/string/ribbon/thin elastic * paint brush * air erasable pen First I drew a beard shape on the sheet of felt using an air erasable pen, then cut it out. Then I put a slit in each top corner by folding over a small section of felt and snipping it with the scissors. Be careful not to make the slit very big. I then threaded a doubled over length of wool through each slit and tied them in a loop. The idea is that the loops slip over your child's ears to hold the beard on while they are wearing it. You could also use thin elastic or ribbon etc... I thought wool would be the most comfortable though. Bubble then got (very!) busy with some glue and cotton balls. She did a wonderful job covering every available space :-D We then hung the finished project from some cupboard handles and it dried in a bowed shape perfect for wearing. You could also use a large drinking glass or a jar (with the beard laid over the top) for the same effect.

In spirit of speech therapy and Christmas (and the fact that I LOVE that I can incorporate holiday's into my job), I just wanted to share a fun activity that I did with both our aphasia and dementia group this week. It's called "Christmas Jeopardy!" Sure your fellow coworkers or classmates (in my case) may make fun of the idea (and the fact that you know too much), but it was a great activity to promote conversations and language! Jeopardy Board made of: construction paper, foam board Lesson Plan: Goals/Objectives: · Enhance topic initiation and maintenance among group members · Target both asking and answering questions to maintain active participation in a conversation · Encourage any opportunity to expand off of game questions Activities: · Reminiscing/Sharing: Clients will be asked how their week went. Ask client to share one thing with other members. · Bring in baked goods for “Christmas Party” · Discussion o Share a Christmas /New Year/Holiday tradition that is unique to your family. o Do you have a new years resolution? What and why? · Game o Holiday Jeopardy § Choices will also be provided. This will be a good opportunity for clients to prepare for upcoming holiday events and occurrences and become familiar with everything. · Purpose: Group members will be using language to perform creative thinking, solve problems, and reminisce of traditions from their past /present. Rationale: · Group treatment for individuals may facilitate generalization of functional communication to natural environments. A group environment promotes interaction among members, which in turn should foster pragmatic skills including improved turn-taking and communicative functions or speech acts. The group environment also provides the opportunity for more natural tasks. o Discussing current and past events is a very common conversational topic that many people discuss. Allowing group members to share important events in their life and their opinions on what goes on in the world today and in the past are natural tasks that everyone should have the freedom to express. · Exchange of information can be enhanced by several techniques including gestures, drawing/writing, or graphic choices. Members can also bring in props, such as photos or souvenirs to facilitate discussion. NO WAY... the circus isn't over, I'm just moving over to the carnival. After you grab your ticket you can have a piece of Cheesecake. Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake! It was totally worth the ride~ Chocolate Peanut Butter Cheesecake! This was one of my favorites of the carnival. This and the Hot Diggity Corn Dogs. Chocolate. Peanut Butter. Decadent. Cheesecake. Do you want the recipe? Okay. CHOCOLATE PEANUT BUTTER CHEESECAKE From Better Homes And Gardens Makes: 16 servings Prep: 40 mins Bake: 300°F 45 mins Cool: 45 mins Chill: 4 hrs INGREDIENTS 18 chocolate graham cracker squares, finely crushed (1-1/2 cups) 1/4 cup butter, melted 2 tablespoons sugar 2-8 ounce package cream cheese, softened 1 cup creamy peanut butter 1/4 cup sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate pieces 2 tablespoons milk 1/2 teaspoon vanilla Peanuts (optional) DIRECTIONS 1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees F. Combine crackers, melted butter, and 2 tablespoons sugar. Press into bottom and 1 inch up sides of a 9-inch spring form pan; set aside. In bowl beat 1 package cream cheese with electric mixer until smooth. Beat in peanut butter and 1/4 cup sugar until combined. Fold in 1 lightly beaten egg; set aside. 2. In saucepan stir chocolate over low heat until melted and smooth. Remove from heat. Cube remaining cream cheese; add to chocolate. Stir to combine. Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth. Fold in 2 lightly beaten eggs. Spread half the chocolate mixture into pan. Carefully spread all the peanut butter mixture over layer. Evenly spread remaining chocolate mixture. 3. Bake 45 minutes or until top is set when lightly shaken. Outer 2 inches of the top will be slightly puffed and dry-looking; center will look darker and wet. Cool in pan on rack 15 minutes. Use a small sharp knife to loosen crust from sides; cool completely on rack. Cover; chill 4 hours. Let stand at room temperature 15 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with peanuts. Makes 16 servings. Since the Peanut Butter Cheesecake was SO decadent, I served it along side Fresh Fruit and Ragin' Cajun Snacks. A ticket for the fruit! Puff Pastry Cinnamon Sticks were served right along with the fruit. Just glue tickets to the party picks. No ticket needed for the Ragin Cajun Snack Mix! More carnival rides to come and you've got a ticket to the front of the line! Buckle Up!
