Hey everyone! So as I've been prepping for my classroom this summer-- I've absolutely fallen in love with succulents! Not the cacti type-- but the fat, round, and colorful type. As a result every piece of decor I've been making lately has a shiplap and succulent theme! Take a look below: Most of the items pictured above can be found in my TPT store-- you can find them by clicking here. Now on to to the real reason you're here. Paper succulents. I'm not going to lie to you-- it is time consuming. And if you have a cutting machine like a Cricut or Silhouette-- you can save yourself some serious time (plus you can make larger sized plants). So here we go! Here are the supplies you need: Cardstock (I bought 2 packs of green cardstock from Walmart for $5 each), scissors, pencil (if tracing), and hot glue. Each larger succulent took about three 12x12 pieces of cardstock, and the smaller ones took two 8.5x11" pieces. This first succulent was made from a template I found online for free. I didn't really follow their directions-- so you can make them either way. First, I printed the 2 pages onto the color of cardstock I wanted. Next, I cut out the pieces. I laid the largest piece aside as a base. Next, I cut all the other pieces in half (and I also cut an extra piece of the smallest size). Cutting them in half let me make a small slit along the bottom-- where I used a small dot of hot glue to press the flaps together (giving them more of a standing look). You can see my process below... After that I began assembling my succulent: I tried to make sure the petals were overlapping in each layer as I glued the pieces together. The very middle is the hardest to explain because I usually played it by ear-- bending and gluing the smallest pieces (sometimes even trimming them) until I was satisfied. Succulents 2 & 3 were created using my Cricut-- but I was able to trace a template for any lovers of the "trace and cut" method. If you want to make them larger-- you could always set the largest piece down on some paper and trace a larger figure around it. Basically for succulent #2, I used the largest piece as the base and bent all the other pieces upward at the petals. Then you glue and stack, glue and stack-- and make sure the petals alternate (so you should see the previous layer in between). Here is my finished result with my original: The last succulent is my personal favorite! Also the easiest (in my opinion). It's the same process as above: Cut out shapes, bend the petals, and stack and glue the layers. Here is my original and the new one side by side: Hope that helped inspire you in your paper succulent making quest! If you have any questions or suggestions please leave them in the comments below-- and I will try my hardest answer them ASAP. Hope you have a blessed day!

Cactus Classroom Decor Theme The decor is much than the total of resources included And a bonus resource (not originally listed) is included! This is a beautiful cactus decor set for all cacti fans out there. It is created with a lot of love, since I started with several designs for my little cactus lover at home who urged to make some similar decor so "Everyone can enjoy this beautiful designs, mama!" WHAT IS INCLUDED A lot of the resources included in this bundle are EDITABLE. + There is a bonus file to help you make POSTERS. • Cactus Editable Labels - 49 pages of different designs and seizes, all EDITABLE • Cactus Binder Covers and Spines - EDITABLE • Teacher Toolbox Labels - EDITABLE • Bulletin Board Letters - Banners • Cactus Word Wall - EDITABLE cards • Cactus Table Numbers 1-8 • Cactus Alphabet Cursive Posters • Cactus Motivational Posters EDITABLE • Cactus Calendar • Cactus Clock Labels BONUS FILE: The following resource is included in the bundle only! • EDITABLE Poster TEMPLATES The idea of this resource is to compliment the Cactus Decor Bundle. As the designs can be suitable for various ages, I wanted to include versatile resources and skip the ones that are specifically for one or two grades as letter posters, for examples. On the other hand I wanted people to have the chance to use the design for what they need in their classroom. I came up with the idea of editable posters. Together with the other editable resources in the pack, this give you the option to create ANY piece of classroom decor that is not included. Thus you are not paying for multiple pieces you don’t really need and you can create unlimited resources you DO need. • Friendly Reminder - This resource is for personal use only. You may not sell or share for free resources you create with it. Yet, you are more than welcome to share a picture of your creation on the web and tag me (if you wish). Hey, hey! I hope everyone is having an amazing week! I am definitely enjoying the summertime. It's funny-once I've been out for a few days, my brain wants to start thinking about school again in a fun and creative way. Is anyone else like that?! I love my laidback summer days, but I also enjoy creating things for the upcoming school year and my TPT store. Over the past few weeks, I've been having a lot of fun making classroom theme sets. I change my theme out every 2-3 years, but I have a blast creating new ones every year. Over the next few weeks I'm going to spotlight some of my favorite theme sets in my store! I'm super excited though about the latest one I just uploaded to my store. It's CACTUS THEMED! Have you seen cacti (cactuses?) popping up everywhere? I have...at Hobby Lobby, Marshall's/T.J. Maxx, Target...they are definitely a trend right now! Here is a preview of my set that I made. I am so pleased with how it turned out...I am contemplating changing my own theme this year to match. (And then I remember the hours I spent prepping the black and neon posters last year, and I try to tell myself that I don't NEED a new theme. We'll see which side wins out by the time I go back to work in July!) Starting with the basics...ABCs and number posters. I started including cursive letters in my sets recently. I don't have to teach cursive, but I can definitely see this theme appealing to teachers who work with slightly older students than I do, so they'll have them if they need them! Don't you love the cactus border at the bottom of the posters? I created it using some beautiful clip art from an Etsy shop that I purchased. Here's a close-up: Here are some more posters: shapes, colors, and a welcome pennant. I'm not even exaggerating when I say that this welcome pennant alone made me start thinking about changing my theme. I could so see it hanging on one of my bulletin boards! Here's some more organization-ey stuff. Hall passes, name plates, table numbers, and labels. LOTS OF LABELS. I am obsessed with labeling things in my closet. I don't know if I've ever shared a picture of the inside of my closet at school. It is full of clear Sterilite tubs and every single one is labeled. When it's pristine at the beginning of the school year, it makes my heart so happy! (And then the first week of school happens. And then I am stuffing it full with all of the extra supplies my students bring in. Teacher truths!) Here are a whole bunch of printables for organizing a calendar display and center organization. Now, to be totally honest I haven't done much with calendar math in the past year. It's one of the things I had to put to the side when our math block moved to the afternoon and we dedicated a 45 minute window in the morning to intervention time. It makes me so sad, though, because I LOVE calendar time! I truly believe that the students learn so much from just a few minutes of regular calendar routines every day. Here are even more printables for the classroom! Schedule cards for the board or a pocket chart...a How Do We Get Home Display...a Classroom Jobs display...clip chart posters...and Where Are We? signs to post outside the classroom door. Speaking of class jobs...that's going to be a whole post next month. We are going to be a Leader in Me school next year and that's one of the things we were challenged to incorporate next year. (Anybody else do Leader in Me? I would love to hear your experiences!) Okay, now on to the teacher binder stuff. I LOVE my own personal teacher binder. I made it a few years ago and when I say it changed my teaching life I really mean it! Although, to be honest, I don't just have ONE teacher binder. I have the main one that stores all of my planning documents, notes, and a lot of other important papers, but I also have separate binders for data, lesson plans, and parent communication. Each of those topics is so massive I really do need the information organized in a separate binder. Anyway, here is a snapshot of the dividers and binder covers in my cactus set! I started off with the templates I've used for other sets but I was so conflicted because I loved the cactus garden art, too. I started playing around with it and ended up creating two versions. I couldn't decide which one I liked best, so I put them both into my set. There are divider labels/binder covers for every topic under the sun that I could possibly think of. It's a lot! I also created a bunch of forms for my own binder. Some of them are forms that I send home in my beginning of the year packet. Others are forms just to help me keep organized...and others are informational sheets for substitutes or student teachers (such as info about allergies and safety procedures). And lastly...I made a whole collection of quote posters. Some of these are based on things that I say ALL THE TIME in my own classroom, such as "You get what you get and you don't pitch a fit!" I understand that in some parts of the country, those words don't rhyme...but here in Georgia, "get" and "fit" rhyme more often than not. I have a friend who teaches in Chicago now who says "You get what you get and you're grateful for it" instead so I included that version also. Take a peek...I am really thrilled with how these came out! Since I know every teacher's classroom situation is unique, I also included editable templates of all of the teacher binder stuff and decorative files. There's always something I wish were included in decorative files I've purchased...editable templates fix that problem! Do you want this set for your own classroom? Then hop on over to my TPT store to check it out! You can click on any of the pictures to take you there or just click here. Thank you for checking out my little blog...Make something wonderful happen today!

Adorable cactus crafts for kids in preschool, kindergarten and elementary school. A fun craft idea for Cinco de Mayo.
I am moving to a new classroom this year, and I decided that I might as well have a new classroom theme! I love trendy and fun so I chose a Cactus Succulent Classroom Theme! I will be revealing my finished classroom in a later post. Since I can't get into my classroom yet, I am going to share with you the items that I plan on building my classroom theme around. So my sweet cousin watched my lovely kiddos one day and made me this sign for my classroom door! She is so talented! Find her on instagram here! I found this adorable felt letter board on Amazon. It came with two sets of letters (One white and One glow-in-the-dark) I can definitely see this being such a fun place to put messages to my students or quotes! The 12X10 that I bought is currently unavailable, but here is a similar board. No classroom is complete without borders, am I right? So in my new classroom I plan to layer the metallic green, black and striped border to create a classy and fresh look. I cannot wait to play around with these and see how it turns out. You can find the striped border here. And the metallic corrugated borders were a gift. I am sure they have them at any teacher supply store. Amazing Dollar Tree finds! While taking my weekly ( who am I kidding daily more like it!) trip to Dollar Tree I stumbled on these goodies. The cactus decals were such a steal! There are three per sheet, two on the front and one on the back. I think I will either use them on the walls or my front window. The succulents were a great buy and I plan on using those simply for decoration on a shelf. Oh bins...... What can I say, you ALWAYS need more bins. I plan on storing glue, markers, STEAM supplies and anything else that will fit in these babies! All of this cost around $23 at Dollar Tree so I call the a win. These tiny Cactus lights are EV. ERY. THING!!! I think I might put them around my smart board, or on the Birthday bulletin board. So many possibilities! I got these as a birthday gift from one of my sweetest friends. They can be found at Target! And Amazon has some similar ones here. And last but not least, this adorable rug that I found at a boutique in my hometown. I am thinking of adding a burlap ribbon or twine hanger to the top and making it a wall hanging. I know if I use it as an actual rug it will be wrecked mid year. SOOOOOO on the wall it will go! It can be found on Amazon here. It is a 24 X 48 rug so will make a nice large wall covering. Check out this Cactus Group Labels Freebie! I am planning on using these on my new Target Carts. Can't wait to share the finished product! They are super fun and fit in the Target Dollar Spot 3 X 5 Adhesive square pockets. Thank you so much for joining me and reading my Okie ramblings. I am so excited to share my classroom reveal with you! Hopefully they will let us into our classrooms soon!!
