We are currently starting our final projects of the year. [I can't believe it!] But for now, let me catch you up on what we just finished... 5th and 4th grade have been working on the same concepts for the past two projects. Both grades participated in a school wide Egyptian art unit by creating Egyptian sarcophagi. They reviewed SYMMETRY, and learned about hieroglyphics. After that, they learned about creating TINTS and SHADES by making an undersea painting. You can find these handouts here- http://www.teachandshoot.com/2015/02/art-room-handouts-round-3-value.html I would have let the students have more freedom with other colors, but I really only had blue left, and underwater came to mind. Thanks for visiting! 3rd grade also participated in the Egyptian art unit by creating Egyptian PORTRAITS! This might be my favorite project from this year. What a wonderful job the students did! After that, 3rd grade made ORIGAMI frogs, but I forgot to take photos! After origami, 3rd grade started creating ASSEMBLAGE art like the artist Louise Nevelson. They are just starting to paint their sculptures this week! 2nd grade created a fun pyramid COLLAGE as part of the Egyptian art unit! After that, 2nd and 1st grade both created ABSTRACT Picasso PORTRAITS. 1st grade and kindergarten created Egyptian necklaces and learned a little bit about PERSPECTIVE by drawing the pyramids. Kindergarten just finished learning about weaving by creating some alligator WEAVINGs!

I've been falling in love exponentially with the Krokbragd technique and with the pass of time I've been creating patterns and motifs that gradually became more and better. I started offering a couple of woven bookmark patterns, then a small ebook and now after working for more than six months on the biggest Krokbragd motifs bundle to mix and match ebook I've ever made, you can finally say with me: it's ready to share! It's delightful and it's more than I've ever expected to make in regards to this magical weaving technique. Hopefully you get to enjoy it big time. This is a 200 pages downloadable ebook in PDF format with 136 motifs, plus 4 full pattern projects to weave on your frame loom. ----- Main contents in this ebook: [Intro] - About the author - About Krokbragd - Guidelines for grid/pattern reading - Understanding the sequence - Yarn interlocking (selvedges) - More learning resources [Get ready] - List of materials & Yarn recommendations - Using the motifs to create a design - Blank grid for printing Lets weave (Motifs) - Figurative motifs: Trees, plants & flowers | Fruits & fungi | Animals & insects | Landscape | People - Abstract motifs (categorized by complexity): Low | Medium | Medium-High | High Lets weave (Patterns) - Bookmark - Wall hanging - Christmas ornaments - Halloween small wall hanging ----- What materials will you need? - A frame loom - Yarn - Yarn needles - Comb (a fork is always welcome as well) - Scissors - Dowel rod (depending on what you weave) ----- Krokbragd is a Scandinavian weaving technique that gives as result thick and compact textiles with plenty of colour usage. Scandinavian women used to wove rugs, blankets and tapestries with this technique, among other homely textiles for the daily life. It's a very interesting technique because with the same sequence that always repeats itself, and just by changing colours you can create unlimited variety of designs. It's magical and really impressive! This is ebook it's oriented to weavers who already have a basic knowledge about frame loom (how to warp it, how to tabby weave, extract textile from loom, basic terms such as warp, weft, beat, etc.). Nevertheless, I've added a beginners learning resources list that includes several Youtube video tutorials that are free to watch (audio en Spanish, subtitles in English). Also, if you are just jumping into the frame loom weaving world I suggest you my "Weaving Guide - Creating my first woven wall hanging on a frame loom" >>> https://www.etsy.com/listing/1066415253/weaving-guide-creating-my-first-woven It's all the basics you need to know. ----- Doubts?
