It is never a joy when one must deal with the loss of a loved one and recently, I had to prepare two sympathy cards. I wanted cards that could be quickly prepared and opted to use the same design for both cards. When going through my stamp collection to find an appropriate stamp, I settled upon the Stampin' Up! Butterfly Basics set and Butterflies Thinlits Die from the new Occasions Catalog. Personally, I like to think of butterflies as a symbol that a loved one is near so I was drawn to the set. Subtle colors were used but

Happy Thursday!! Isn't this butterfly just awesome! And honestly, I am not a butterfly fan- but there is just something about this stamp set & coordinating framelits that I totally dig. It is just so elegant!! And I have made alot of different cards in various colors & combinations using it over the past 4 months. stamp set: 'Butterfly Basics' card stock: Mossy Meadow, Blushing Bride, Whisper White ink: Mossy Meadow, Rose Coral ColorBox Chalk pad supplies: Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, Butterflies Thinlits Dies, Basic Pearls, Doilies, Dimensionals, Spring Flowers Embossing Folder other: Dryer Sheet This card is one of the many projects from my Spring Fling event last weekend. +++++ Wow- Brayden had an awesome soccer game last night!! He scored at least 2 times (maybe 3). You can tell he has been practicing with Mike. We were so proud of him. His last game is Saturday morning. And then we'll be going to baseball games starting next week. From Brayden's soccer game we were off to the races! We had a late night as I went to get groceries afterwards. But Nathan looked fast! He had a good night. He got 2nd in his heat & he was scored 3rd place in the main- but all 3 front cars were 3 wide & within inches of each other. I was sitting at the finish line & I would disagree with the scorer on where he finished. If he had a white nose on the car would that have made a difference? We are the purple #52 car with the black bumper cover (nose). I'm off to pick up the boys. Brayden will be here after school tonight. I've got to get his Crispix "Wood Cake" made so we can celebrate his birthday. Gosh- I can't believe he will be 7 tomorrow. We are going to get a few flowers planted tonight. And then I'm going to spend the rest of the night a stampin' away for my upcoming class I have on Sunday. I hope you have a delightful day!! Happy Stamping! Hugs! SUSIE
I had great fun with the Butterfly Basics stamp set and some butterfly dies and other bits n bobs! I made several cards, some just in a different colour scheme, others with slightly different elements (ribbon, die cuts, jewels, pearls...) but I love this one as the colours are just so pretty/vintage/ice-creamy! Yet again I have used one of my favourite pinks - Melon Mambo - only downside of that one (and Blackberry Bliss) is that the inks do make a mess of your fingers! And they also stain your photopolymer stamps, but as long as you clean them properly this does not affect the colours you stamp next. I am adding this card to the following: Suzy Bee's Bloomin' Challenge - #123 Anything Goes with a Twist - Add some pearls A Bit More Time to Craft - #17 Anything Goes Cupcake Inspirations - #353 Photo Inspiration my inspiration was the pretty colours Stampin' Up! materials used: Stamp sets - Butterfly Basics, Gorgeous Grunge Inks - Melon Mambo, Early Espresso, Sahara Sand, Old Olive Dies - Bold Butterfly framelits, Butterflies thinlits Ribbon - Mint Macaron dotted lace trim Card - Whisper White A4 thick cardstock, Vellum Embellishments - pearls Butterfly Basics Photopolymer Bundle [138865] Gorgeous Grunge Clear Stamp Set [130517] Melon Mambo Classic Stampin' Pad [126948] Old Olive Classic Stampin' Pad [126953] Sahara Sand Classic Stampin' Pad [126976] Early Espresso Classic Stampin' Pad [126974] Bold Butterfly Framelits Dies [138135] Butterflies Thinlits Dies [137360] Mint Macaron 1" Dotted Lace Trim [138424] Whisper White A4 Thick Cardstock [140490] Pearl Basic Jewels Embellishments [119247]
Making beautiful cards with butterflies is so fun with the Butterfly Basics Bundle! The trick with the Butterflies thinlits is to use four dryer sheets in between the cutting plate and the card stock for easy removal of the card stock from the die! Here are some more cards I made on my mass produce note cards weekend just gone. I made up 20 of these and used a few different sentiments so I have cards on hand. Don't be put off because the die looks intricate. I find it easy to get a good cut with these dies if you follow some steps: I use injection foam on my more intricate dies, which really helps with getting a clean cut which pops off the die. Make sure you have a firm 'sandwich' in your Bigshot. I placed the base magnetic plate, the acrylic...
Have I mentioned how much I have used this set and how very much I love it? lol I made a set of cards and an envelope box to put them in. I made the box with the envelope punch board. 9 1/2 x 9 1/2 piece of cardstock Envelope punch board: line up at 3 1/2 inches, punch and score, then at 5 inches, punch and score again Rotate cardstock 180 degrees, line up at 3 1/2 inches, punch and score, then at 5 inches, punch and score again On the two sides that you haven't punched/scored, line up at the two score lines you see, and punch & score Crease all score lines Envelope and back of card Inside- this card was supposed to be a thank you, but I stamped Happy bday on the front. So I stamped the greeting, punched it out and glued over the thank you.

And today is the final installment of the Flowers and Butterflies swap card from our Stamping to Share Demonstrator Group. Laura's card has an interesting 'cut' to it. She stamped the Swallowtail background stamp onto the left side of her front panel and then trimmed away all of the panel that was to the right of the butterfly. It makes for a lovely and surprising way to enjoy this card. Dorene made a lovely little treat that celebrates everything spring. These pastel m&m's fit perfectly into our 1'x8' cello bags. She also Papillon Potpourri to make the perfect butterfly accent.

I was in a monotone mood when I created this card yesterday. This is a good thing, because it's very peaceful and relaxing. I was thinking about what I would do with the CAS(E) this sketch
Hurra, es sind Pfingstferien. 2 Wochen Erholung. So genug geschmarrt.

It's my turn to post over at the Country View Crafts Project Blog and I have a card today that incorporates some of Tim's new products, Perspective stamps and Mixed Media Thinlits. I have more photos and details there if you would like to see them. Listen to your heART and have a great week. hugs Brenda xxx Updated with details from CVC Isn't it lovely when the postman delivers you one of those pizza boxes filled with goodies that you have ordered from Susan and when I opened a parcel of pre-order products and found the new mixed media dies from Tim Holtz in it, I just had to have a play. Before the idea for this card came about I was in the process of making some journalling pages using the brand new stencils from Tim Holtz and using the reverse of the sprayed stencil on some spare card. When it had dried and I picked it up to put away in a bits box I immediately wanted to use the new mixed media thinlits dies, so I ran it through the Big Shot and cut it down to size and I really liked the effects. I gathered some elements together and began putting things together. I stamped the butterfly using the French Flight Framelits set on the background and on another piece of card, cutting it out and adding it over the other one. You can see the grungy background under the frame below. Some music paper dipped lightly into inks, a ribbon and wishbone finish the embellishing. I also used the new Perspective set of stamps from Tim Holtz for the sentiment, which was stamped in Olive archival ink. The piece I found to use for the underneath of the die-cut area was originally created using distress paints and walnut stain distress ink. I don't throw anything away ....... lol. I really love the effects these mixed media dies create and you get four different designs in the packet. Happy crafting. hugs Brenda xxx Ranger Archival Ink Pad - Olive Wendy Vecchi Archival Ink Pad - Orange Blossom Tim Holtz Distress ink - Rusty hinge Tim Holtz Distress marker - Vintage photo Tim Holtz Distress Reinker - Peeled Paint Tim Holtz Distress Reinker - Stormy Sky Tim Holtz Thinlits - Mixed Media Tim Holtz Stamps - Perspective Tim Holtz Framelits w/stamps - French flight InLinkz.com
