Second half of the week
just a quick little blog post...i've been super busy with three graduations this week! my little sister, my niece and my stepson! and 3 days in a row, too! BUT, in between all this fun graduation madness, i wanted to post a few journal pages ... excuse the out-of-order sequence, but they all pretty much happened in the month of may. and they are FULL of my most favorite supplies. a mix of old and new ephemera. tags, labels, stickers, washi tape. all the usual goodness. some have more white space, others are plastered with color and pattern. just playing with different styles. oh, and i had to include this photo of my FAVORITE new mini journals from cavalini & co. (they're coming out with some of their own washi tape, too. check it out on teesha's post here). they are like moleskine journals but with awesomely CUTE covers. (there are different themes like, too. this one is the numbers set). they come in packs of three and the inside of each are different kinds of paper (one is blank, one is lined and one has GRID paper!!) eeee! i am giddy just thinking about the possibilities. such a craft nerd, i know. ;) and i'm glad you understand. :)

I was surprised with the amount of support that My Bullet Journal related videos have been getting. I sincerely thank everyone who have viewed and liked the videos. Bullet Journaling has been a big fun part of my life and I am happy that the community is very welcoming to beginners like me. Anyhow, today is another installment on the Basics of Bullet Journaling. We are through with How to Set Up Your Index Page and Keys as well as guide on Monthly Page. Now our focus will be on Weekly and Daily Pages on Bullet Journal. Weekly and Daily Pages are the core of your bullet journal system. Without a good weekly and/or Daily Set Up you can organize and plan your life. Weekly Page vs. Daily Page Now others prefer doing a Weekly Page that also acts as Daily Page while some does both. It really depends on your own preference and what works for you. I for example create a Weekly Page and Daily Pages. The reason why I chose to have both pages is because I love seeing a summary of my week at a glance and I want to plan without limit everyday. As always I consult Pinterest and Intagrams for inspirations but since May I settled for a Weekly Page layout and the only thing I change every now and then is my Daily Pages. READ: June Bullet Journal Set Up Weekly Page A Weekly Page gives a quick glance of the week. This consists of all days of the week and a space to put appointments or reminders. You can also put a Weekly Habit Tracker, Meal Plan for the Week or Budget of the Week. If you are using the Bullet Journal for School you can also add your subjects for week and any recitation or exam that will occur. Daily Page Now Daily Page functions as your own planner of the day. You can use this to write down your tasks of the day, any notes you need to remember and meetings or events that will occur. Your daily page can also be used as sort of a reflection/diary page. How to Set Up Your Bullet Journal Weekly Page You can choose to have one page or a spread in doing your Weekly Page. Make sure to search first on inspirations before doing any actual work so you won't make any mistake and waste a page. Add seven boxes for each days of the week. You can do this vertically or horizontally depending on your preference. Each box write down the day of the week and the date. Once you have set up your week you can now add any special dates, holidays, birthdays and/or appointments and meetings you have. Customize your Weekly Page by adding a Habit Tracker, Meal Plan and/or Budget. You can also add other elements like a spot for Quote of the Week or Weekly Review. Make sure that you have listed your priority to do list of the week. Keep your weekly set up as simple or as creative as possible just make sure that it works for you. How to Set Up Your Daily Page It was setting up my daily pages that I struggled a lot. At first I keep it extra simple by just dumping everything and introduce them with the corresponding bullet. Then I started to get inspired from a lot of great bullet journalists in the internet and I learned to prettify my entries. It is not overly done but I believe my Daily Pages now is soooo different from before and I love it. Write the name of the day with the actual date. This is important to introduce a new day in your Bullet Journal. Create your weather icon if you like to add decoration. You can also doodle on free space. Add a Time-Tracker which basically works for you to divide the time of the day on certain tasks. You'll find yourself more productive because you know now until when do you do an activity. Brain Dump your tasks of the day. This is the part where the bullets matter a lot. An open square that indicates an OPEN TASK A closed square that indicates TASK DONE An open circle that indicates an Event/Appointment A closed circle that indicates a finished Event/Appointment A dot that indicates notes An arrow for tasks or appointments moved An "X" for tasks or appointments canceled Tips for Your Weekly and Daily Monthly Page Follow the layout that you like and that works for you. Don't let others ruin your momentum. If a layout is not making you productive or happy anymore don't hesitate to stop or to change. Use a notebook you really love and you see yourself using. A note: All the highlighted words in my blog are clickable links. I recently came across a blog from Tami Taylor about keeping a Five Year Journal. She prints a list of questions every month for you to work on, just one a day. Tami does this on index cards....but as a Filofax user...this is another great excuse for a new Filofax. So my Filofax this time is, the beautiful A5 Imperial Purple Finchley. At £125 this one doesn't come cheap.....unless you find a used one on e-bay OR contact The Filofax Shop in Neal Street, London and get a bargain (like I did) for £40. The Finchley is a beautiful Filofax, it feels heavenly and the colour is rich, only downside is the 25mm rings. I would love this to have had 30mm ones. But look at how flat it lies! So inside, I have kept it clutter free. The red card insert is from the journal cover I used, to make the Filofax paper I did here. It is only there so I can rest on it whilst writing. As you can see, I am using the 25mm rings to the maximum. Under the flyleaf, is a yearly calendar I designed. Most yearly calendars have the months down the left hand side, I wanted days of the week in that place instead. I haven't started the journal yet, but once I do, I will mark off each day with a highlighter so I know what days I've completed. I went onto Tami's Blog and printed off the questions. So far, there's only January to August, but she adds the following month's questions around the middle of the previous month, so September is due any day! I decided to print the questions out on patterned paper, but to be honest, I'm not sure I like this format. I was going to add tabs to them with the months written on and use them as dividers but decided against it. Next I had to make the pages, in hindsight, it would of being so much easier printing these pages on plain paper and punching the holes to fit the Filofax. Drawing the separation lines and writing in the years, took me the best part of two days and four A5 White Ruled Notepads On the very top line, I write the daily question. We haven't been given the October questions yet so I wrote one with a Frixion pen (so I can erase it later), to show you what it would look like. I used this date for obvious reasons. lol So you can see how this journal is going to work, I can imagine each answer for the same question will be different every year. I've added divider tabs using Avery stickers, using the same format I did in my Homemade Label Blog. So now I am really looking forward to using it! Even though we are 8 months into this year, I am still going to go back and try and answer the questions from the previous months, using notes from my daily dairy/journal.
