Notable Names in Musical Theater and Broadway | 8 Printable Learn about those who created, or helped to create, some of the most well known musicals through history - from past to present! When I started my mixed age drama club, I found that many of the members did not have any prior knowledge of Broadway history! The majority had hardly ever been exposed to a musical of any sort. Thus started my goal to incorporate theater appreciation into my drama club. Every few weeks - I would set a movie day in my plans. We'd learn about who created the musical or play - and then watch either the film adaptation or pro-shot of the stage show. It was truly wonderful to see my students discover the wonderful world of musical theater. These printables are simple and can be used as a complement to many different types of lessons or activities. I would hand one out prior to viewing their work. (For example, handing out Andrew Llyod Webber's as we started The Phantom of the Opera) However, this can be used to help initiate a research project, to be displayed on the wall, materials to study for a quiz, etc.. The choice of how to use them is up to the purchaser! This packet covers 8 notable names in musical theater history: Stephen Sondheim Lynn Manual Miranda Jonathon Larson Andrew Llyod Webber Sara Bareilles Stephen Schwartz Rodgers and Hammerstein Cole Porter
