Inspiration is taken from the Cornish landscape and works viewed by the artist in Tate St. Ives. Part of an ongoing series, this original abstract painting reflects on the artist's time spent in St. Ives, Cornwall, particularly the Tate gallery and surrounding area. The surface quality and materials used, including oil and pigments on plywood, are integral to the work. About the artist Both living and working in Bristol, Clare Thatcher is a figurative painter influenced by the landscapes and locations that have a profound effect on her, particularly those in coastal areas.

In some places prefabs, put up as an emergency measure to re-house bombed-out families during the war, have proved more enduring than was at first envisaged. Countrywide I suppose most must have gone by now, but in Bristol at least, one or two pockets survive. Those that are owned by the local authority have been renovated with pitched roofs and uPVC windows, which should guarantee their survival for some time to come ...albeit in an inauthentic form. A few, presumably purchased from the authorities by their tenants under the Thatcherite "right to buy" scheme, perpetuate original appearances with some fidelity. This one still has a flat roof covered only by roofing felt and what look like aluminium window frames.
One question that inevitably comes up when creating a plan to pay off debt is: “should I continue to donate to charity &/or tithe to my church?” As a practicing Mormon, I have paid a 10% tithe since I … Continue reading →
Located in the South West of England, Bristol is a colourful and vivid city, with a long and prosperous maritime history. Very popular among the youth, Bristol is a multicultural place with emphasis on its varied music scene, arts and cultures.I lived in the Bristol for the past five years and I'm yet to meet another soul who doesn't love it. Here, you can enjoy either a stroll through the forest, a visit to the museum, a walk to
Blaise Hamlet is a collection of nine unique and picturesque cottages laid out around an open green. The hamlet was built in 1811 to accommodate retired staff from Blaise Castle estate in Henbury. Designed by John Nash, the hamlet was one of the first examples of a planned community and there is a stone sundial and water pump on the green which commemorates its construction. Although owned by the National Trust, the cottages are rented out and not open to the public.

Bristol obviously isn’t short on things to do that come under the eco/green/sustainable banner but when you’ve only got so much time, there are some unmissable things that should be on your Bristol bucket list.
If you’ve set up home on a lake, chances are you're there because you love to be outside. Your days are most likely spent outdoors, so you don't need much as far as a house goes: a place to lay your head, cook dinner, and seek refuge when the weather takes a turn. Amenities are nice, but when you already have so much at your doorstep, they take a backseat. It’s no wonder, then, that there are so many incredible lake houses with small footprints. We wouldn't mind heading off to any one of these tiny lake houses for a long weekend (or full summer) of fishing, boating, and relaxation.
This grand Bristol cinema demolished long ago. The site is now a Waitrose Supermarket and a small multiscreen cinema called "The Orpheus" in memory of the old building. The original cinema was opened on February 28th 1938 it seated 1400. and in my opinion was the best cinema in Bristol. I am seeking photos of the lobby and upper lobby areas, and the atrium, which were exceptional, please do let me know if you have any. This shot shows the cinema not too long before closure when it was showing "adult" movies, the decline had begun….
