If you are fond of the colors, charm, distressed look and imperfect symmetry of European cityscapes and scenes like I am, then Siena, Italy is the place to go. Left relatively untouched since the 1500’s, Siena’s architecture is second to none. On a recent trip I was particularly drawn to the many photogenic door-ways throughout the city. “Siena Doorway” is the first of what will be several doorway paintings from Siena. What drew me to this specific subject were the colors, the exposed brickwork, and the potted cactus. I also liked the juxtaposition of old and new with the more modern electrical and cable runs above the doorway. “Siena Doorway” is part of my Architecture and Cityscapes gallery and is available as an original watercolor painting (11X14), giclee prints, and greeting cards.
