House sitting opportunities lure us to a lot of places we’d never heard of before; remote mountain communities, small villages, suburbs on the outskirts of big cities. This has helped us discover hidden gems off the beaten tourist trail. Places that the locals, the hotel owners, and restaurateurs choose to live. Sometimes our assignments are close enough for us to visit nearby cities more popular for tourism. One house sit lead us to a small town in South Western France close to Toulouse, the capital of France’s southern Languedoc-Roussillon/Midi-Pyrénées region. Toulouse is at the center of the aeronautics industry in Europe.
