A client was using these paper goods for her son's 1st birthday and asked me to make something to match. She wanted the cake to be in a #1 shape, so this is what I came up with. It is a marble cake with custard filling. She wanted a "messy" smash cake for her little guy. This is a chocolate cake with chocolate custard filling.

Hi! We are so happy you have found us and to say thank you we have a special 20% Off Coupon Code for you to use JUNGLEPARTY20. We have everything from outfits to decor for the Lumberjack Theme and who doesn't love to save money? HERE IS A LINK TO OUR JUNGLE PARTY SHOP THAT HAS EVERYTHING FROM OUTFITS TO SUPPLIES AND DECOR The jungle theme first birthday party is near and dear to my heart because this is what we did for Noah's first birthday...now I am over here thinking of what to do for his 5th birthday party? Where in the heck did the time go? Even though it was almost four years ago, I still prefer the more bold colors like the oranges, greens, browns, yellows and the cute animated characters, so I wanted to do a blog on this same color scheme. The jungle outfit is one of our classics and it never disappoints. It is so cute for pictures, the cake smash and the party and yes it will hold up for all of that! Invitations Now, how cute are these passport invitations? What a creative way to invite friends and loved ones to feel like they are really going on an adventure. I made my own by getting kraft cardstock and then printing my design on my own printer. Cut Out Trees with Burlap Background Looking for a cute but simple, easy to put together backdrop for your kiddo’s birthday party? You can never go wrong with DIY cutouts. How adorable is the little monkey swinging from the vines?Construction Paper can easily be found at your local Dollar Tree or Walmart. You can get 2 yards of burlap fabric from Walmart or Joanne Fabric (don't forget your coupons) for a very reasonable price. Guest Tables I just love the orange and lime plates and the fake fern plants running along the middle of the table. The contrasting napkins placed inside the cups is so simple but also adds some extra texture to the table. Chocolate cake w/animal toppers & monkey cupcakes Then of course with any birthday, the main attraction, the cake! Whether you plan on having just a cake or cupcakes or both, here are a few deliciously creative ideas. I just love these cake toppers! It’s as simple as whipping over to a Target or Toys R Us to find these little animal figures and setting them on a cake. Oh and look at those cupcakes! Such a great idea to use vanilla wafers to make the little monkey faces! I also love the animal face cupcakes. These are a super easy way to make a dessert table look full and decorated at the same time. Toys/Gift Boxes We literally bought all of the fun little giveaway stuff online and the prices were very reasonable. With animal masks and DIY binoculars, little ones can let their imaginations roam free playing safari animal or explorer. Snacks/Drinks If you’re thinking of a healthy snack for the little monkeys, fill a bowl with bananas or these adorable tiger tangerines. For the adults, you can fill pitchers or these cute dispensers with some fun cocktails. You can also use the dispensers for kid drinks of course like lemonade or punch. All of these ideas can easily be implemented while being budget friendly. I find Walmart to have very reasonable on prices for the plates, napkins, plastic tablecloths and favors.
"OCTONAUTS, Report to your stations" Well, with a little boy obsessed by Kwazii Kitten and Dashie Dog, there was no guessing what theme he would choose for his 5th Birthday Party. Before I could begin a thing, I had to sit down and watch one of our many Octonaut's DVD's and Matthew gave me the run down on who was who. I met Captain Barnacles, Tunips the vegimal and many more funny little sea creatures. From that point on, my mind went into over drive and I survived on very little sleep over the weeks leading up to the big day. I wanted the guests to feel like they had stepped into an undersea adventure. I decided that the dessert buffet needed to be positioned so that it was the first thing the guests saw as they entered the room. With an underwater backdrop and sand colour table cloth to replicate the bottom of the ocean, there was an immediate sensation of being in an underwater world. The Tissue Paper Tassel Garland gave a Seaweed effect to the table. These are extremely stylish and easy to make using Favor Lane’s Garland Kit’s which come in a variety of different colours. The food on the dessert buffet had to represent the characters. So we had Captain's Cupcakes and Kwazii Cakes which were made by the very clever Mabel from Sweets for my Sweet. These were displayed on stunning Rosanna Cake Stands from Favor Lane and sat on a bed of raw sugar for a sand effect. The Octoron's (Macaron's) by Dee's Sweet Boutique were a hit and as always, looked and tasted divine. The main attraction on the dessert buffet was by far the "Octonaut's Gup Cake" made by Sweets for my Sweet. It looked amazing. Other goodies on the table included, Octojello served in our Mini French Apothecary Jars. Our Vintage Striped Wooden Icecream Spoons in Sea Breeze were attached with natural twine. Shells were scattered over the table to compliment the ocean floor effect.Dashie Dog and Peso Penquin were not forgotten. A very clever friend made iced cookies as seen below. To say the kids loved them would be an understatement. Upon arrival each child was given an Octonaut's Party Hat, Kwazii Eye Patch and Octonauts Flag from Favor Lane. Before the children got stuck into all the yummy dessert treats, we served some funky oceans nibblies such as, "Octorolls" (Nori Rolls), "Sea Urchins" (Potato Gems) and "Sauci dog rolls" (Sausage Rolls). This was washed down with some "Octojuice". After eating, we played "Pass Peso's Parcel" and "Put the Patch on Kwazii". Kwazii was drawn by the clever Mr Favor Lane. An activity table was also set up with Sea Creature Play Doh Shape Cutters, Octonaut's Colouring Sheets and Cardboard Goggles to decorate with lot's of under the sea stickers, glitter and more. Each invited guest was given a Favour Bag to thank them for coming. Inside were many little treats such as an Octonauts Notepad, fish sharpener, Arnott's Under the sea shapes, crayons and a sea creature stamp. All items available from Favor Lane online party boutique. In addition each child was also given a tin pail as they were leaving which they filled with "Barnacle's Beans" and "Octopods". They also received a Retro Swirl Lollipop - Favor Lane. This was a nice way to make sure siblings didn't miss out. Special guest and birthday present "Bluey" the Japanese fighting fish was the star of the day. We were under the sea after all :). With a limited space and budget, it’s not always possible to buy new plant containers or garden art but you can still achieve a dream look and great functional growing spaces by ‘turning old into new.’ One clever design trick to use is adding interesting features, repurposed containers and collections. Here are some ways to learn from nature's 'No Waste' policy and reuse items to save money and add character to your garden.
