Inspired by the Brandywine River in the Hobbit, which signified the boundary between the known and the unknown, let these socks take you on your own unexpected journey! I used almost all of my two skeins, so if you intend to add height or length you might want to have a third skein handy. Socks as written are 7 inches high before heel flap, and the foot is 9.25 inches long.

This 933-acre park is divided by grey stone walls built of local stone in the late 1800's. At that time the property was a dairy farm owned by the du Pont family. This unique area became a state park in 1965, one of the first parks in the nation to be purchased with Land and Water Conservation Funds. The park maintains 14 miles of trails for fitness, wildlife observation, and photography.

The pattern is worked in a simple lace pattern from tip to top, so that you may use greater or lesser yardage with ease, to produce a smaller or larger shawl of your choice. Pattern includes both written and charted instructions. My sample shawl shown blocked to 56 x 23 inches using 450 yards of sock yarn. Notes: the larger needle is used for bind-off only. There’s a great little video of the bind off on youtube here . Thank you, Roxanne ! Here is the link to a document that shows the stitch numbers for each chart row.
